They are totally independent and everything is done in house.
This is Geoff's arrangement. Whoever does the arrangement has total responsibility for the project, storyboard, costume, makeup design, set, location, everything.
In the past it's been Geoff and Layne, the beatboxer taking turns month to month. Eli, the rock tenor has done a few arrangements and will be doing more going forward.
No label, no manager, just them. They bring in makeup artists for anything elaborate like this, and camera crew when they need a steadicam. The credits are always below the video, it is always a short list.
Fun fact on this one. Jose was not the original featured artist. Covid stopped the original artist from getting there, Jose is local and has worked with them before. His voice, though, did not fit the rocking beast sound that Eli did. He had already recorded the part that Jose sang. It was pitched and Eli did that amazing vocal part. Floored a bunch of us.

You could almost say it knocked some reactors out of their pants! LOL! Also, I'll add Voiceplay has access to some amazing sets and costumes, because their beatboxer Layne and their former baritone, Tony Wakim, own the channel "Pattycake Productions" which does a lot of Disney stuff, and Voiceplay and Geoff Castellucci (bass) in his solo work (do check out his channel, you would be doing yourself a disservice not to!) can use their props and stuff.

Oh! And now that I know who that original artist was, and love him dearly, but I simply cannot imagine this without Jose. Fate took a hand, there, I think. Or a conductor's baton, I guess you could say.

@@ilonadever8249 I agree! Jose is such a charming rogue type! Sailor, Pirate, Viking...perfect roles for him! Also I love how they talk about The Black Pearl at the beginning of the song! "Some men have died, and some are alive, and others sail on the sea!" Referring to The Black Pearl's undead crew!

Their production team is Geoff’s wife Kathy. We call her Queen Kathy because does production for Voiceplay and Geoff’s channel. Occasionally she’ll be in the video and she has to wrangle the boys all while being a wife and mother

This is when we found out that Cesar and Jose were in the same theater class in high school. Jose is a couple years older. Geoff was so funny in the BTS video of this. You will find most of you questions answered in the credits below the video.

Not only do they do a remarkable job of singing, they do almost all of the other work, arranging, set design, lighting, costumes. IMO makes their videos even more amazing. When jobs are done out of house it's noted in their comment.

Thanks for your reaction and coming back to Voice Play! As other Voice Players have stated in the comments, they are completely independent and do all of their own arrangements, editing, and overall production. They are experienced professionals coming from Orlando Florida and working as performers at Universal and/or Disney theme parks. Geoff, his wife Kathy and several others worked the "Beetlejuice Rock&Roll Graveyard Review" and the annual month long 'Halloween Horror Nights' at Universal theme parks so creepy makeup, costumes and theatrical performances are something they are very skilled at (occasionally longtime friend, Rick Underwood, that did their makeup when they worked at Universal will do their more difficult makeup especially if prosthetics are involved). Usually Geoff and Layne alternate but Eli has done a few and plans to do more (Eli always does the lighting and technical effects). Geoff's wife, Kathy, is their production manager. I think you would love their cover of "Valhalla Calling".

They are fortunate that Jose had already gotten home. He had been appearing in Hamilton in Chicago but they closed it down due to Covid. He still appears in VoicePlay productions from time to time. He previously was a member of the first a cappella group I ever remember hearing other than barbershop: the famed Rockapella. This piece always reminds me of what opera should be: incredible costumes, beautiful music, and a storyline.

The song their gonna sing is usually done by them at.
Arrangements from concept to TH-cam is done by Geoff or Layne. Sometimes Eli.
The one doing the arrangements does costumes, editing, directing, etc except intricate makeup, audio mixing and cameras.
This one was Geoff's baby. It was filmed at Pattycake Productions where most of their videos are done. Some are a various locations.
Their older shorts were done at Pattycake. The newer ones in the Oviedo Mall in Orlando FL where Pattycake is located.
The Halloween ones are usually Layne.
Geoff also does all his videos himself as well. Most are filmed at Pattycake. Some are filmed at various locations.
His Folsom Prison Blues video is filmed at the Indian River Correctional Institute in Vero Beach FL. Closed in 2022 and then bought by some people that eventually want to turn it into an algae farm. Until then they rent it out.

Great reaction! The credits for each production are in the description and sometimes with some pretty funny commentary on the music or video. Whoever takes on a project is totally responsible for the entire thing as stated by other commenters.

This song is from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. So they're down in that region, presumably. The lyrics--'The King and his men stole the Queen from her bed and bound her in her bones'--are referencing the mythology of the Pirates series, and the song itself serves a couple of important functions within the film.
Geoff arranged this one, and as is their custom, he was in charge of the set/lighting/etc; when Layne or Eli does the arrangement, they'll take the lead. But Geoff's wife Kathy is their production manager for every video.
It was a fortunate accident they they wound up with Jose as their Captain here; another artist was scheduled to be their feature, but was unable to make it due to a Covid-related situation, and Eli had to take over what would have been that person's part because it was out of Jose's range. IMO it couldn't have worked out better if they'd planned it all this way.
Check out their prequel/sequel to this video, 'Drunken Sailor,' also featuring Jose as well as an old VoicePlay friend and alumnus!

This song was written for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It was a simple song in the film, VoicePlay have made it something special. It's usually either Layne or Geoff who chooses a song and then does the arrangement, and produces the whole thing. Eli has also done a few. This one was Geoff's baby. But read the credits, they tell you who did what.

Pirates of the Caribbean 3rd movies so you were spot on the pirates. Usually Geoff or Layne alternates on who is doing what project is going to be done that month and that person is responsible for all of the production. The next month it will be Geoff. Eli will be joining the rotation (he had originally done Eleanor Rigby) and recently is responsible for Creep. He will now be picking up some of the projects. Eli has taken on stage lighting and any AI, computer gen, green screens in the past couple of years for anything that needs to be done. The group really does everything themselves and what they feel they need for the audio or video, extreme costuming or makeup/prostheses, they hire in. VoicePlay is outstanding on arranging music (see them do In The Hall Of The Mountain King).

Ah, my second favorite Voiceplay song! It was in first place until "Valhalla Calling" came out. Nevertheless, this is my most listened to Voiceplay song! I sleep to it, literally! So last year, Jan-Nov, I listened to HTC over 43,500 times (nope, not kidding, Spotify counts), and am still listening to it in my sleep. EVERY night. "Valhalla Calling" has some serious beat to it, so it's not as conducive to sleep. But I *DO* listen to it every other night on repeat for hours. BTW, this is my first time on your channel, I think, so how many Voiceplay songs have you done? If you're ever interested, I've put together a collection of Voiceplay "rules" to increase your viewing enjoyment of them. But I won't post them without a reactor's permission. I've only ever had one have a problem with it, even though I clearly said it wasn't intended to critique their reactions. But he got ticked off, felt I was telling him how he should run his channel, which anyone will tell you is NOT my way at all! So now I wait for permission, and honestly, they're "more of guidelines than rules." (I can't believe no one has gotten that reference! Especially with THIS song, hint hint! Think apples!)

It happens differently from song to song. Sometimes Geoff or Layne have an idea they want to pursue - they kick it around with the group in their regular meetings, and then take it and run with it. Sometimes it comes from brainstorming or patreon members. But once the initial idea takes form someone claims it: typically Geoff or Layne. Once claimed it's theirs, and they have full artistic direction. Others can state a dissenting opinion, but all final decisions belongs to the artist who took on the project. No arguments.

A lot of them are done by Geoff(Bass from the world) and Lane (beatbox master) have a lot to do with choices and arrangement but I think they all have input

It is a very group effort. They all bring in parts and ideas. Often, Layne has done the arranging, although the rest get their chance as well. It appears the lights are planned and carried out by Eli. There are a few vids where they show how the plan them out.
