Oh yeh, as a kid gowing up, watching my beloved Liverpool, Steve was my hero, I chose # 9 because of him. I hear he is somewhere in Florida, I wish can find out where, I like to go meet him.
I was right behind the goal in the anny rd end for that first goal, I remember Ray Kennedy's eyes being shut as he headed that in, I felt as if I could touch him
I watched this game in Germany (on a German tv channel). Liverpool took Gladbach apart and the next day my German chums were raving about Liverpool's relentless attacking. This was a great Gladbach team, but they could hardly get out of their own half.
I can't believe the amount of space players had back then. The way you could get away with heavy touches. Amazing goal by Case though. Ray kennedy had a great game too.

Monchengladbach won more Bundesliga titles in the 1970s than Bayern Munich. They won five Bundesligas and also got to four European finals. Bruges beat Juventus in the other semi final. Bruges also got to the 1976 UEFA Cup final and were 2-0 up at half time before Liverpool won 3-2. They were a very good side. Talent was spread around all over Europe back then, not just in a few select leagues. Your 'knowledge' of 1970s football is non existent.
Think you're forgetting, in them days, you had to win the League Championship to qualify for the European Cup. Or be the holders. Of which Liverpool were. Champions of England and European Cup holders of 1977.
In 1978, Borussia Mönchengladbach were a very good team, considered one of the best clubs in Europe at the time. The late 1970s were part of the club's golden era, during which they consistently challenged for both domestic and European honours. They won more league titles in the 70s than anyone, including Bayern. In the 1977-78 season, they finished second in the Bundesliga, narrowly missing out on the title to 1. FC Köln, despite a remarkable final-day victory, where they beat Borussia Dortmund 12-0. This was one of the most memorable matches in Bundesliga history, but it wasn't enough to win the title due to goal difference. During this period, Mönchengladbach were also regular competitors in European competitions, having won the UEFA Cup in 1975 and 1979, and reaching the European Cup final in 1977, where they lost to Liverpool. So, Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1978 were a very good team, and a dominant force in both German and European football...far from crap!
I remember watching so many European games at Anfield on TV in the 70s and they made everyone look crap. Liverpool were the team more than anyone else who learned from Michels and Cruyff about pressing and constant movement. They just used to pulverize teams who were simply unused to the pace and athleticism
Some of their players admitted the Anfield atmosphere got to them. They akfoy had a complex against Liverpool, after having already lost two finals to them.
RIP to Paisley, Smith, Kennedy, Clemence and Hughes. Thanks for the wonderful memories
Quel plaisir de revoir King Kenny Dalglish! Merci beaucoup.
Ray Kennedy. One of my earliest LFC heroes. What a player he was. Gone but not forgotten.

Mein Gott, dieser ruhige Kommentar ohne Geschrei und Theater, wie sehr vermisse ich das!
VFL Borussia Mönchengladbeck, du bist een Jefühl.
Stevie Highway has and always will be my favourite Liverpool player of all time
We were brilliant , the greatest football club in history bar none 💪
European royalty
A brilliant football club. Would put Real Madrid at the top personally
No
Rubbish! Ajax Amsterdam was tremendous and Liverpool would have been no match for Johan Cruyff's Ajax
@@paulrandle3837why ?
Bob Paisley was 💯 right. Infact Bob's Knowledge of Football was way something of levels above others. Proved it. We love Liverpool we loved PAISLEY
When football was a simple game to enjoy.
What a team that was. King Kennys pass for the Kennedy header absolutely quality.
MAGNIFIQUE FOOTBALL EUROPÉEN,

Wonderful memories.
Liverpool have had some great teams over the years no orther team in England gets anywhere near them for talent
Souness and McDermott being confused by the commentator!
He finally worked it out by the end!
Mullet, moustache, easy to do
Look at the Kop a sardine wouldn’t fit in there.

Ray Kennedy scored like a real striker. In fact he played as a striker at Arsenal.
I remember watching this live on tv....
has that commentator just called the king ' dogleash' 😊
Un gran equipo el Borussia que no tuvo la suerte en sus enfrentamientos con el Liverpool
Berti Vogts .Solid defender
Nothing but foul playing all the time. Always...whole career.
The 1977 final revenge!
Those days when back pass is legal.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Simonsen etait-t-il déjà à Barcelone ?
@@MrJeepsters I think so. He certainly didn't play in either legs of the semifinal.
El portero alemán, una ruina.
Vive liverpool fc !!
Dogliesh ? Very funny but still great commentary.
YNWA!!!
Киевлянам в этом финале ничего не светило.
They had some tough matches in those days and the mighty Club Bruges in the final a decent second division side would probably have won it 😂

@@erniescullion8452 exactly. Bruges and Gladbach were top quality teams. Liverpool always beat them but had to play at their best to do so.
