To anyone who wants to know. Barbara Reddick (the "lucky winner") passed away on May 15, 2023. She became 62 years old.
I don't know how she died or how many really loved her in the end. But I hope she became happy with all her money. The price she was willing to pay for it, was high.

I remember seeing this clip a while back. The nephew ended up giving half of his winning to avoid any further court proceedings. One thing to consider is the attorneys incentive. Whoever picked her up as a client is incentivized to drag this to court as long as possible, especially knowing the aunt is siting on a million dollar potential. Where then would she be? Just goes to show that age is just number. Settling this amicably would have been the best approach.

Imagine getting 600 thousand dollars and being this upset over it, while also decided to give away a big chunk to a lawyer that's going to drag it on for as long as possible with no guarantee of winning anything, but certain guarantee that both she and her nephew will lose tens of thousands of dollar on lawyer fees. What could have been 1.2 million among the both of them will now be at least 100,000 less for both of them. The lawyers are the only winners here.

@@mrtacticool4946 30-35% is the standard flat rate lawyer fee for money won plus maybe a couple other small lawyer charges that don't amount to much so that means he got 195,000 and the lawyers got 105,000. So yeah lawyers are expenseive in financial settlements. By the way that's if you settle outside of court, it can get more expenseive but alot of lawyers don't charge much unless they win you money and he lost money, he'd still have to pay court costs though and maybe her's as well which would suck if he did because then he'd have to pay a little more than what I said up above. Those kind of lawyers aren't cheap and and there's other things to look at too.

For those interested, she really did take her nephew to court. They settled on splitting the money 25/75 in the woman's favor. According to the news article I read she and her nephew are no longer speaking and she regrets letting him have any of the money at all. Poor kid, least he found out her true nature sooner then later.
