The number 1 most infuriating thing I hate about the average police officer in this country is the condescending way they speak to citizens. Whether they’re right or wrong. Whether said citizen they are investigating is being polite or not, they always feel the need to assert their authority while speaking down to everyone as if we were children. I’ve experienced it myself firsthand. All while I was being nothing but extremely polite and respectful to them in return. I almost wish I was able to hold a mirror up to them so they could get a taste of how demeaning it feels to basically get called stupid to your own face all while doing nothing at all to provoke it
I’ve experienced the same thing! I called for help and was very polite when they showed up. They immediately treated me like I was some scumbag criminal. I was VERY confused as to why they acted that way. Then they twisted everything I said to incriminate me when IM the one who called them for help…..no wonder nobody trusts the police. I legit thought they were there to help. They aren’t. :(((( they’re assholes.
So let me get this straight. Plainclothes cops don't have to provide their name and badge number because this would "blow their cover." And now their faces have been broadcasted over the worldwide internet, so everyone in the world can see what they look like. I'd say they've blown their cover.
His comment about "oh you're the expert, I've only been doing this job for 20 years" was ridiculous as well. He's not a lawyer. The man isn't a lawyer. They're both on even ground in terms of legal expertise.

Once the undercover deputy has verbally identified themselves as a Sheriff's Deputy, who is acting in their official capacity, with a specific agency, they are no longer considered to be undercover and should be required to identify themselves, just as any uniformed deputy would be.
@@ashir555 It actually is that simple, and most (but, not all) departments I have had dealings with require it, by their policy (but, not by law). Once you put on a big ol' vest that identifies you, to the world, as a Deputy or Police Officer and you start performing the duties of a Deputy or Police Officer (acting in an official capacity), you lose the anonymity that comes with being undercover (being unidentifiable as a Law Enforcer) and should be required to provide the public with your identifying information, upon request, for accountability purposes.
They all had clothing or self identified as law enforcement. So with that, they wouldn’t be covered under that statute and should have their identities disclosed. Definitely an issue I’d press
As a side note When Mclynas ran for Sheriff he went around the county and pressure washed the sidewalks using a stencil to basically put campaign ads all over the place at almost no cost. brilliant!
It's wild how quickly they drop everything to get in the face of a person filming. That they pretend it was because he was walking in the street is made obvious nonsense when they completely ignore the woman walking through the exact part of the street that the filmer was.
There is only one plain clothes officer there (not really giving orders or handling the case), and a few unmarked cars. Undercover is just a wrong term to use but it makes it easy for many to understand what you're talking about.
They are not in uniform but the moment they might perform active police duties they need an identifying mark for them not to be mis identified as one of the suspects...or they might get fired upon by fellow officers responding but not part of the undercover cop group...

as for the undercover guy that says you cant walk in the middle of the road and tries to explain you need to not be in the middle and that its a civil infraction?
But if the officer doesn't identify himself, then how are we to know that he is really an officer? If they are giving you orders, they will be identifying themselves in a scenario. I noticed that the statute cited for the infraction was in regard to a Highway. In my state, a distinction is made between highways and residential roadways. *ARREST THAT MAN FOR FICTITIOUS MERRY MAKING*
I almost wish I was able to hold a mirror up to them so they could get a taste of how demeaning it feels to basically get called stupid to your own face all while doing nothing at all to provoke it
Yes, and they take that kind of attitude home. That's why it eventually turns too domestic violence on their part.
The job attracts morons and psychopaths for a reason.

I’d vote for him. Clearly cares about professionalism and right/wrong policing
"Well you have to ID". When the cop said that without missing a beat, that just shows how effortlessly he's told that lie many times. They can't claim ignorance, that kind of thing is taught to you in the academy.
if your not doing anything wrong, there shouldnt be any issue with showing id..
@@JoeGrunt9 except that you have the right to not show it.
@@JoeGrunt9 absolutely, but it should be a personal choice if it's not required by law. Cops are people like you and me, and strangers to most people they come into contact with. Let's be honest the only reason they care is because he is recording them.
I think the liberty interest of recording this interaction far out weigh him being in the road.
They were paranoid of being recorded because they were doing something unlawful

I live in a gated community in Florida. The number of people who leisurely walk in the road, without being accosted by cops, makes this whole video a joke. Makes you wonder what they were ACTUALLY doing, instead of "investigating".
How the hell are they "undercover" when they're in their uniforms and basically dressed like military commandos!?
One of the cops had a tactical knife on his rig. 😆

The case in New York is real, the guy was denied a job with the police, all because he scored too high on the entrance test.
The instant the citizen asks "am I being detained" he has just opened himself up to future harassment.
In my opinion, this video would be much better had the citizen simply replied with one "no" when I asked for ID and then, just continued, silently, doing what he wanted to do.
Saying anything to those tyrant cops gives them an edge.
there is some intention of those auditors to escalate to some level. But... escalation to an officer can be looking at them, while they are not at all escalating when up in your face.

When you wear a vest that says "Sheriff", and you wear that vest in public, you're no longer under cover. ijs
These cops can't handle a guy peacefully filming from the street. How can they be trusted to handle a real emergency situation. They escalated a simple situation.
You can trust them to mess it up.
Escalating gives them the opportunity to go hands on and arrest. They love the endorphin rush.
If it turn out to be unwarranted and generates a lawsuit then whatever, doesn't cost them anything. Taxpayers pay again.

I live in Pinellas county... this is nothing new. Got pulled over by a cop for having a headlight out at 2pm (that I didn't even know was out (I know no excuse but didn't deserve the following to happen)) and because I said "hey dude" (I say that to everyone) when he walked up he lost his mind, started pacing and yelling/threatening me say dude one more time etc. When I went to pull out my phone to record his tirade he threatened to pull me out of the car and arrest me stating that recording an officer is a felony. I filed a report on him and his supervisor showed up at my door early in the am the next day asking me to explain to him why I filed the report. He said there have been multiple complaints about this officer but a year later I still saw him out there harassing people. In fact, he was screaming at some old lady he pulled over who went through a blinking crosswalk after the person who was using it was already a good 15 yards past it altogether. Same thing pacing, screaming making a scene...
Thinking I should have just pulled out the phone and hit record no matter the consequences... People like these cops in the video and the one that I spoke of need to be held accountable. I know it's not illegal to record here his supervisor said so but at the time I didn't know for sure... Florida has some weird laws and doesn't always follow federal guidelines.

Argumentative and petty. Just the kind of person you want to be running your sheriff office. It would have been far more appropriate to move to the other side of the road and done his filming there. If he'll argue that he has the right to disobey rules as a private citizen then what stops him from doing the same as law enforcement.
