Tip: if you take off the shroud above the radiator, you can reach down in from above and get some of the top clips.
you do a really good job on these videos. So calm and methodical. I just bought a 4runner and your videos have been very helpful.
Best videos ever. Thanks brother.
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Brother great job best vids I’ve seen on a TRD 4Runner keep it up make more!!! Got my support!!! Killing it!!
Thank you!!
very good job.
Looks Sweet! Ill install these after i jack up the OEM silver ones a little more LOL
Now I just have to buy a 4Runner❤️
True lol
Do it!!! You won’t regret it
Looks so much cleaner than the glossy TRD Pro valances. I'll be ordering a set for my '23 ORP in magnetic gray!
Yeah I'm not sure why Toyota made the valances a gloss black but everything else a satin/flat black.
Wow, is that how the TRD OEM skid normally mounts, with a bunch of loose spacers? What a pain it must be to install by yourself.... Totally agree that the matte black Valance looks much better than both silver and black OEM.
Great video, by the way!
The TRD skid comes originally with 2 spacers. We had to add extra spacers due to the diff drop we installed but we might just remove that. Doesn't benefit you that much. Also, Thanks!
The spacers are there because a front differential drop kit has been installed. That is typically used when a suspension lift is installed. Keeps the axles and ball joints happy. But yes the spacers are a pain!
What size drill bit should you be using for the license plate on the front? And I assume you should be drilling the holes from the inside of the valance? Don’t want to screw up that part 😂🤔🙏
Side note- What kind of taillights are those...morimoto? They look amazing!
Awesome tutorial video. Very accurate but Dang those front clips are a pain to get out. Fingers are screaming!
Lol yeah it can be a pain!
@@yotaxpedition 2023 has a foam thing blocking them, what model did you do this on in the video? I dont think this is possible on some 2023 trims (off road) without removing the entire bumper
I just swapped my front grill to the heritage style, and noticed with the grill out you can easily reach the top valance clips from above. Fyi
Wish I would have done this all at once. Those top clips were rough.
Doing the grille and valance at the same time is a good idea!
Thank you so much! I couldn't get it from the bottom but had no problem finding everything from above.
@@WWG1WGA17 Just got back in from doing mine and the top sucked especially the middle ones 😅
Same!!!
Good stuff! Just sux you can't ship to Hawaii. I had to buy the oem from the factory. 😭
Sorry! Until we having all the shipping sorted out it has to be that way.
Question Unrelated to the valance. After you took off the skid plate you took off another plastic piece. Is this piece necessary to have on when you have a trd skid plate installed. Thanks. Great videos.
When you install a TRD skid plate the plastic piece is not necessary.
@@yotaxpeditionThank you.
What were the wheels on this 4R? They look similar to OEM, but not OEM
I believe these were TRD replica wheels
I just finished installing but the rear valance doesn’t clip in the center, there is a small gap.
If you're still having problems, please reach out to us at support@yotaxpedition.com
Excellent job! Too bad the back end takes so much work. Definitely doable.
The rear is really not bad to take off. Once you do it a couple times, the bumper can be off in 5 minutes.
@@yotaxpeditionI’d really like to do this mod to my 4Runner but would like to practice on somebody else’s first.
Does your valance match the matte black emblem overlays?
Yes it does.
❤
Still has holes for license plate? In Colorado you can get ticket for not having front plate.
From the back side you can see where you need to drill for a front plate.
Just slap it on the lower part of the grill
Hi, I followed your video on removing the rear bumper, I installed back but I noticed that the rear wipers stopped working. Do you think I disconnected some wires or something else??
There is no wiring connected to the rear bumper so something else caused the issue.
@@yotaxpedition thank you so much
Try lowering and raising your rear glass. Might solve the problem
@@Dlp1776 thank you 😊 that was the issue 😅
Where are you located to do customer installs?
We are near Allentown PA
Rear valance, easy. Pro grill install, easy (after having anxiety attach trying to detach clips near headlights). Front valance makes me want to throw the 4runner off a cliff. I don't know how on earth you get those damn clips off. I got like 3 of them. There is so much stuff in the way on the ORP and trying to single handed manipulate some of those clips feels absolutely impossible. I am just going to take the whole front bumper off at this point.
Lol. I feel your pain. After you do it multiple times it's easy. Front valance is tough with the bumper on but can be done in about 30 mins. If you want to take the bumper off, it will definitely help.
I did my front yesterday, I depressed the tabs with one hand and pulled with the other. Once you get the feel for it, it'll take about 10 min to pull them all out.
Would this fit year 2024model?
Yes it would
so I have a 2023 4Runner off road premium. The only way to replace the valence is to take off the front bumper, there’s absolutely no way to get at the clips with that bar running across.
What bar
@@JattAnmoli so I looked it up and it seems like it’s called an impact bar. I could be wrong on the terminology
@MD-sg4oc is this some new addition to the 2023s? I have a 2023 too and I wasnt aware that anything was added. Damn that sucks. Are u gonna take off the bumper?
@@JattAnmoli same from the videos it seemed like there wasn’t anything there. When I got under I saw it and was thinking “there is no way” so I needed up removing the front bumper and rear bumper. Wasn’t bad. Defiantly time consuming, I guess it will make it easier when I do more and have to take the bumper off.
The crash bar is on all the 4Runners. You can still get the clips out. Feel around back there and you'll find them all.
Already sold out on the rear bumper?
Yes, we didn't order many on our first run just in case there was issues. Which there was and we sold them as blemished parts for a discount. Our next run will be bigger and hopefully fixed!
Would it just be easier to plastic-dip the rear valence without removing it? The front valence is so easy to replace, that is probably the way to go. The rear valence could probably be masked and sprayed on the car. Thoughts?
When we painted our valances awhile ago I was going to paint the rear with it still installed but then I decided to take it off to paint it. I found it easier to just remove it vs taping everything off.
can the clips go back in either way
Yeah, doesn't matter which side they go in from.
I put them back in based on what I thought would be easiest to take off again in the future.
Ah. So I got to cut some holes on my front bumper. Damn it.
If you have the sr5 bumper and want a valance then yes
I would just paint it black.
I don’t trust myself taking off that rear bumper 😅
Its not that hard! You can do it!
@@yotaxpeditionyou were right I did it! Wasn’t too bad, however I did make a small chip of the paint at the edge of my door but it’s barely noticeable. I opted for OEM since your website doesn’t ship to Hawaii 😏 haha
And…now I have 11 plastic clips… 😅
🤣 I have one less myself
At this point I rather just get it wrapped
Video makes it look simple. Just finished the front and it was a nightmare and that’s being nice! I didn’t take the bumper off but finished in nearly 4 hrs and there were 3 clips I just couldn’t get to.
The process convinced me to NOT buy the rear valence.
back bumper is a breeze...
front bumper is absolutely impossible to get off without pulling the whole bumper off.
The front is possible with the bumper on but can be difficult. I've done it a few times this way. But it is easier if you pull off the front bumper.
Just finished front valance w/out removing bumper...pure pain in the butt
@@robertreynolds6043 Glad to see I wasn't the only one whop thought so.
