    When you mentioned "Lard" I think half the audience screamed and some fainted! I have some sitting right by the stove and will be fine. (you can sometimes get lard at Mexican meat markets and restaurants, they make it on the spot, maybe every day. It's different in every place). Anyway, you can get them back I think if you show a picture of a cute animal, possibly feed a piece of pancake to a puppy. I happen to have some good fresh apples, and hope to try this this week, or at least before I just eat them all. HM. I bet my dry yeast is like five years old.... Anyway, looks good!

    How far ahead can you make the batter? I do have a yeast dough recipe that says overnight although it says in a pinch a couple of hours. Yours may be more practical. And thank you thank you thank you for admitting you use lard. So much better than some molecular cesspool. Although I would probably use butter and olive oil for these, or even ghee. BTW, is there perhaps a Polish recipe for pancakes with sauerkraut and sausage? Served with sour cream, it would be delicious.

    Greetings from Minnesota!
    Those look REALLY delicious. I'm a sucker for butter and syrup on my pancakes, but I can see powdered sugar and maybe a touch of butter as being quite tasty! I was surprised that there wasn't a dash of cinnamon in these apple pancakes.
    I must admit I didn't consider hot dogs as part of breakfast, or is that another name for sausage links?
    Anyway... thanks for the delightful recipe and have a wonderful day!!

      Hi Greg! I can see how cinnamon would be great in this recipe, I'll have to give it a try next time. Hot dogs for breakfast is just as you would imagine, hot dogs not sausage links. The difference is we eat them bun-less for breakfast. Take care!

    I think the description may be wrong. This is not a "hot cabbage dish." The apple pancake recipe is interesting. I never worked with a yeasted pancake batter before. I imagine one has to be very careful to make sure these are not served raw on the inside. Would it not be better to slightly nuke the apples first, allowing them to pre-cook and release some of their liquid? That apple liquid could be added to the water before adding it to the flour. Some recipes for apple cake use this pre-cook method because apples release so much water during the cooking process, the water around the apples can prevent the yeasted batter from cooking properly. It seems to me, if the pan is too hot, the batter will brown too fast on the outside, and the inside will not have enough time to cook properly. Pan temperature and cooking time seems to matter in this recipe. This may not be as easy as it looks.

    • @PolishYourKitchen
      @PolishYourKitchen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for letting me know about the description. I made an oops I guess. There is no reason that you can't cook the apples a little first if you like, it won't hurt anything. The temp of the pan is definitely important for these. Too hot and the middle won't cook and the outside will burn. The first few I make usually find their way into the dog dish for that reason ;)
