I have the older version. Best piece of kit I've ever had. Living in Scotland it works a treat in winter conditions with good merino layering. Also a hard shell on top if it's really throwing it down which it does frequently here..
A merino layer underneath is perfect 👍🏻 love that combo as well!

You like the AR just as much as the LT? I am looking at getting one of those as well.
@@rmkvisions I do! When it’s about 30 degrees or below for sure the AR, but LT is everyday above that
I'll have to look into getting one then maybe I could do a comparison between the two for the channel!
@@rmkvisions definitely get one, for the colder days! A comparison would be awesome, you can definitely fill the weight of the AR insulation.

Just bought 2018 version from REI for $120 on clearance rack... (one and only Arc'teryx on the rack).
Great brand also worth a mention is Carinthia jackets too.

I actually just bought the Atom AR. I'm really pumped to have my first piece of Arcteryx gear. I have a low tolerance for cold so I wanted to go warmer but if I feel it will be too warm, then I'll likely go with the Atom LT or Proton LT.
I don't think it will be too warm, I think that's a good call. It is still a very lightweight layer. Let me know how it works!

What did you think of the AR?
@Earl Grey warm for sure but arcteryx stuff fits too right under the arm pits for me in much of their jackets. It's a turn off for me it constantly bugs me.

But I have the doubt what brand of pants you are using in the video and if you have other recommendations about pants that can be used for hiking as a daily use.

I'm glad it helped! The pants I'm wearing in the video are the Prana stretch Zion straight. My absolute favorite pants for hiking and everyday

@@rmkvisions it’s something to add to the wish list/research …😅. This morning I actually saw one in a shop and it’s definitely something to seriously consider if the ol’ credit card can take it. It’s ridiculously lightweight. They say it’s a wind shirt with very thin insulation on the core and I have to agree. For places where it’s under 35F(3C) approx is common it’d be a staple for any endurance activity and if you get a neutral colour like grey/black can be worn around town in milder weather.

How wind proof is it? I work construction outside and the wind is more so what I’m worried about. I’m also in the south so it was between this and the atom AR but figured I’d get more use out of this warmth wise

The Atom AR Is is going to be more warm as it has a bit more insulation and other than that is pretty same to the Atom LT. It is fairly windproof but it's still a soft fabric and made for lightweight wear. If you were looking for a more windproof hoodie I think a soft shell or even our Arc'teryx's wind stopper fabrics would be better!

I have heard amazing things about the men's kappa hoody. I've been thinking about getting one myself, the Atom line is great but I have a parka with Arcteryx's windstopper fabric and it's honestly night and day. The kappa hoody has the wind stopper and a fully waterproof Gore-Tex line, something else that the atom does not have.
@@rmkvisions I think I looked into the kappa. Something about it made me think twice. Maybe that it had a lot of reviews on backcountry but that they were form years ago? Didn’t want an outdated product. Will check again
And they have just had the old model, the one I saw on Arcteryx'swebsite looks updated and has pretty solid reviews. Let me know what you decide!

It does!
How would you rate durability of new version of the jacket? Does it show any wear on high abrasion areas?
I’ve worn this a ton this past year and it has been excellent. No problems with durability so far
Do you sell any of your old gear?
I do sometimes, just depends on how I got it and in what sort of shape it's in. If I originally bought it myself I'll typically sell it if I'm not using it anymore
Does the newer edition have a stitched or reflective logo?
New one is reflective!
what color do you have on the 2018 model?
I can't remember the exact name of the color, I want to say it was either rust or something of the sort. It's a very standard red though
If the older LT had a printed (reflective) arcteryx logo, is it fake possibly? Same red color as yours, ALSO AND OLDER MODEL.
I recommend the LEAF version of the Atom LT. Slightly better materials, a non helmet compatible hood so fits much better and a subtle logo.
A lot more heavier. Not really lightweight

Arms are a little long but my chest is quite large along with broad shoulders. Might be why it fits me, I've just gotten used to having long arms on most of my jackets and hoodies due to this haha. - Trevor

Only thing I don't like about Arc'teryx is on my Gamma LT Hoody jacket the arms are way too long and I'm 6ft4 46 chest in an XL.
Arc'teryx definitely tend to run a little long but I think on this Atom it's perfect on me with the Large

oh man I'm 6ft3 46 chest and I first bought Gamma LT in XL but the sleeves were just too long. So I bought same colour in Large and the sleeves now fit very well but it's a bit tight under the armpits (not restricting unless I put too many under layers) on T shirt and one thinner layer fits well. The XL is now on eBay. But I also have Squamish in XL and that one fits OK. ( trimmed fit Gamma is regular fit)
@@rustypipe Arc'teryx need to offer different sleeve length, and some jackets are hit and miss size wise sadly.
@@Legionnaire7777 yeah, the jackets are made with longer sleeves as this is a mountain brand. The sleeves are longer so that climbers can keep their arms covered while climbing.
