    "HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!?!?!"
"Do you remember when you were little, and you believed in santa? and then when you learned he wasn't real it took some of the magic out of Christmas? if I tell you the key, it takes some of the magic out of the magic."

Thats exactly what i tell the persistant friends that just want to know how, but dont want to get into magic. "Imagine if i tell you one little secret..but then all magic tricks will be ruined for you..i made the mistake..now i can do all the tricks..but i have no joy seeing magic anymore (LIE)..do you really want to pay that price?"
Most people then then get it and say "oh..no..its ok...but damn.."

When someone asks me if what I do is magic my favorite response is "Depends on what you define magic as" because while there is one big overarching definition of magic, everyone has their own view and definition of what magic really is. Personally, I think that anything that can bring wonder, like card tricks, is magical because it makes people feel great no matter what their mood was. That amazement replaces their previous feeling and you have just magically changed their emotional state and given them something new to try and figure out. Sometimes they'll even be stuck on your trick for a while.

I'm very new to magic but I just wanted to say thanks for these vids. I successfully performed a card force for the first time the other week and the reaction was the best feeling. I've been in a terrible depression for about a year now, due to some awful stuff that happened to me. Pulling off a trick made me feel happy for the first time in a long time. Even better, it made a couple of other people forget about their problems and smile as well. As cliche as it sounds, that's the real magic. Thanks again for your awesome content.

Damn, I don't know why but during your intro, when you say 'Welcome baaaahck' it sounds so laidback.
Which makes me repeat it over and over.
Maybe I'm just weird, but for some reason it makes me see you more like a friend, than a youtuber.
    Thanks Chris

I am not a magician myself but I know a common Russian phrase that can serve as an answer for questions like "How did you do that?" or "Is magic real?" It's "Ловкость рук и никакого мошенничества". Transliterated like "Lovkost rook i nikakogo moshennichestva" and translated as "Sleight of hand and no fraud". I personally really like it.

I remember I did a simple trick for someone at a collage class once, had the whole class captivated. I finished the trick and the main guy I was showing was reacting and I remember him saying, "Man where did you learn to do that?". The entire class with eyes on me I say, "You-Tube" in an exaggerated flat tone. I've never heard so many people laugh at once. Once the best things I've ever had happen, and it was a simple trick. Magic is wonderful.

Awesome. Thanks. My favored response to "Is magic real?", and "How did you do it?" has been, "For me, and what I do, magic will be one of a few things. So easy it's overlooked, more complicated than you think I would go through the trouble to make happen, slight of hand, mathematics, or a skill I have you don't think I do. There is no such thing a psychics, everything they can do, I can do with one of these five methods."

I prefer tricks that requires lots of practice over tricks that use gimmicks/prep which IMO don't require much "skill" to perform. Of course, combining both is fine.

Another one I use if they say "Oh, I know how you did that" is "Oh, I do too - but don't tell anyone because that would ruin it for everyone else. Afterwards, we can talk about it and maybe you can give me pointers to help me in the future" Personally, this compliments them (even if they are correct or not) and both of you are on the "same side"

I've had a spectator spot a double lift, called me out on it and I just said "oops, the cards got stuck together" and just did a top change on the off-beat. If things go wrong, jazz with it. Or pull out an invisible deck and reveal their card as the only face down card. F*ck ups often produce a better effect. Just stay calm and be charming!

Looking at the comments and seeing the majority asking to be taught the coin trick rather than adding or reflecting thoughts on the subject matter says a lot about part of this community, and it kind of saddens me. The secret of magic is almost never the trick, it's always the actor presenting the trick.
That being said, it was a great video. I think more conversations/thought processes like this one should be made much more than tutorials, because it gives insight to newer generations of magicians looking to be more serious about the craft and to become workers such as yourself.

I got caught doing a trick customer said they saw how I did it and I didn't know how-to approach it. thanks to you now I do. I've got a question maybe you can address in a future video. when I first got into card magic I was a beast learning everything I could as fast as I could. then when I felt there wasn't anything new and I had practiced the tricks enough to be convincing I kinda petered out. I went a few months without even touching the deck. my question is how do you keep interest in your magic to practice it all the time? and further when you approach a new spectator do you still get nervous? i feel often that I'm just wasting their time or something. I haven't been doing card magic since childhood or anything. I actually started two years ago. so I get very nervous. therefore I don't really put myself in front of a lot of people as I like to. I would love any advice. and I think a video in the subject would help a lot of people in my situation where you want to do the magic but find yourself too nervous to do so. thank you and again I love your videos.

I had this trick I used to do laying cards on top of coins and making them jump from being under one card to another, as though I was “invisibly” picking them up and putting them there... it was the trick I was best at so when people would ask how I did it I would just slow it down and tell them you move the coins without letting the spectators see, which IS what I was doing, but even slowed down they couldn’t see my actually moves... when they wouldn’t “catch on” I would act impatient and do it even slower but that wouldn’t help them lol... some people would laugh, some would get pissed off like I was making them look dumb.

Every time i've been asked the "Is magic real?" question, I always say "It depends. What I do? Well no, it isnt, it's just hard work and mechanical practice... but there are other things that are hard to explain. Magic could be real, there are things science has yet to explain..... but these card tricks are not one of those." which i feel like can satisfy a lot of people. Those wanting it to be real still have hope, those that believe it is just unexplained science are left believing ot will get explained in due time, and i dont have to lie

advice for situations where people say "I know how you did that": here's a story to demonstrate a little better. Once I was doing the cups and balls routine and just before I revealed the final part where a ball had jumped from one cup to another, a lady said "(exact way I did it)". In that moment, I said "Ok, that's really good. Just one question, if that's true, how'd I do this? I then proceeded to show her the ball had changed places and she looked baffled. She said something along the lines of "wait, you're right....I thought I had you". All I did was make her think she could be wrong and the fear of being wrong overtook her so she retreated back to merely being a spectator.
