- One of the most evocative and emotional ballets I ever made was to this sumptuous Ravel score, "Ma Mere l'Oye." Originally choreographed for my Los Angeles Ballet in 1980, I revived it with very few changes for the student dancers of The Portland Ballet, in Oregon (not to be confused with the school with the same name in Maine). I think the ballet is clear as is. A bit of trivia...the original little bird that eats the breadcrumbs dropped by "Hop O' My Thumb," was the nine year-old Darci Kistler. The live orchestra conducted by Ken Selden was a luxury, as were the costumes by Mary Muhlbach, lighting by Michael Mazzola, and gorgeous sets by Liliya Drubetskaya.
Wonderful
Mother Goose, complete ballet
One of the most beautiful Ravel's music
I got tear in my eyes❤
Greeting from California! Thank you for uploading this! I love Ravel and this is my favorite score of his, but have never seen an actual ballet to pair with the score! I hope one day to take my twin daughters to see this ballet 😊
