- To celebrate Metra's 40th Anniversary, the agency turned one side of a bi-level gallery car into a museum, exhibiting antique schedules, model trains, tickets, car and locomotive blueprints, and a display of locomotive controls and gauges, among many other items.
On the other side of the car, there was a display of seats that will be in future orders of bi-level cars. Not only will they not be able to switch directions, like present seats, do, but the seat backs will have -- cup holders. Exactly what isn't needed during major events like Lollapalooza and Riot Fest.
The traveling museum visited all the downtown commuter stations on various Saturdays, pulled by a Metra switch engine. July 20 was its last stop, at the Metra Electric Randolph Station. If you couldn't get downtown to see it, enjoy!
Happy 40th Anniversary Metra family of the Metra Rail. 🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆
I was there and man I had a great time, I hope Metra has more fun activities coming up.
That's Me... 😊
