What a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful álbum. This is why life is worth living. To have to opportunity to appreciate and experience these beautiful things.
Idk. To me, this song feels like I'm talking to God, "As a shore I ever seem to sail to" is referencing just how much I rely on him to help me. This entire album has been so heart warming and uplifting, and spiritually healing in so many ways. I'm not going to lie, I actually have been avoiding this song. A lot of me just feels like I'm never worthy enough to listen to it, to feel like I'm talking to God. Especially right now in my life. The main reason I especially like this song is the lyrics though. Specifically the phrase "Afraid of the empty, but too safe on the Shore" really just ties into my religion in general. I was taught that we *needed* to be sent to Earth to learn about trials, suffering, courage patience; all human attributes. Repenting and learning of the mistakes we make on Earth is such a key place in our doctrine. In order to experience happiness & joy, you need to experience grief and sadness, which is why the lyric I mentioned above fits so well with my life. After Robin said that, he starts listing things that happened in life that meant a lot to him, I presume. "I remember- I remember- I remember" Everything happens for a reason, and its meant to help you learn about life. Even though we all experience different things, we're all still humans on Earth going through different things, highs and lows, depression, exhilaration, anger, fear, hope. All these things just to help us learn to be better people. Its what gets me through life, to be totally honest. Just the feeling, and the knowledge that whatever you're doing, whatever you're going through, you're doing it for a reason. Even if we don't believe in the same God, even if you don't believe in one at all or you believe in many, it's a key truth to human living. Everything you do in life affects something or somebody else. Everyone affecting you right now has been affected by something. Whatever affected them, was affected by something else beforehand. If whatever is affecting you is negative, then you yourself have a chance to change that! Forgive others, get rid of an addiction. You can do it! If whatever is affecting you is positive, then pass it on! Smile about your circumstance, laugh about a joke. You are here. You are experiencing things that are unique to you, and thats what makes you, you. Make yourself the best *you* that *you* can possibly be, it may in fact be your only chance too
All those lines at that segment feel so hauntingly resonant. 'I remember hoping I'd remember nothing, now I only hope I'm holding onto something', such a touching line that could represent a lot to a lot of different people.
Been listening to this album for a month basically, still feels like I'm journeying to its center and uncovering more and more richness in it. beautiful beautiful stuff
I dont know if i have an old soul but fleet foxes is timeless for all ages 😭 i can imagine after i graduate hs still appreciating their music. Bless you robin and ff. 🤍🌷
WHY AM I JUST DISCOVERING THIS GROUP NOW? Better later than never, though...also, from what I've gathered so far, FF fans are just the nicest people ever, i want to hang out and cry w u all
Glad to have you here experiencing Fleet Foxes! I wish I could listen to this album for the first time again!!! Check out his cover of crayon angels. Or Wild Mountain Thyme, two of my favorites! Only on youtube 🙄
Love the orchestral composition! I think that's what I've always admired about this band. The dynamic instrumentation perfectly suits the lyrical themes
The ocean to me is the perfect cover for the album. The depth and mystique and all the moving parts.. but that’s not unlike the other albums at all! It’s like they’ve singled out certain emotion of other albums and dove and had an exploration . But also it is obvious how much inspiration is in the music. Don’t know how to describe it exactly. It’s a wonder how music can be so expansive, enveloping, and just beautiful.
Absolutely incredible, inspiring album and what a finish! tying back in with Sunblind's tributes in such an emotionally cathartic way, with such rich imagery. unbelievable, thank you so much
Hearing this song, especially the final, gave me the same emotions that I had watching the final of Vanilla Sky. A flash of my life in seconds. Absolutely marvelous!
what I posted on my Face page..I am in love again..FF has come back to haunt my spirit with dreams of summer shores and mystic mountains and love on the wind and magic water..thank you for helping me to fly
The atmosphere of this is so rich, and so thick you could cut it with a knife. Absolutely gorgeous.
I agree! Such a beautiful heaviness to this song. Really makes me just stop everything and listen.
Two hours after this was released and I'm still at a loss for words. This album is beautiful.
Lucky we are
Its absolutely gorgeous- the word stunning comes to mind

Couldn't have said it better myself!
God that hits hard, worth living for... And you are right, this album has me reeling back to life.

What an absolutely beautiful comment. Thanks for sharing.
This is beautiful, thank you so much.
A masterpiece. Fleet Foxes, man.. what else is there to say except "Thank, You."?
Robin: What can I say! except.....
“Afraid of the empty
But too safe on the shore”
😢😢
“I remember meeting Clementine and weeping” is such a sweet line.

''I remember meeting Clementine and weeping'' - now I know she's Robin's niece, I wanna cry too 😭

This was me in 2018 when I graduated. 😅
Grown Ocean / Shore. We've come a long way.
I feel like I’m praying in a church by the ocean on a windy evening. So soothing with hint of mystery.
It's funny you say that, this piece is based on debussy sunken cathedral, which is about a church that rises from the ocean
May we transcend space and time together here, stranger.
WHY AM I JUST DISCOVERING THIS GROUP NOW? Better later than never, though...also, from what I've gathered so far, FF fans are just the nicest people ever, i want to hang out and cry w u all
Better late than never, this was easily one of the most beautiful things to come out of 2020

Wait until you hear their first and second albums.
And the Sun Giant EP.
the emotion of almost going down with the waves ... and then there's ... the SHORE

Thank you for making this album. This song, and all the others.
Thanks again Fleet Foxes for the goosebumps! Every album is an experience one cannot forget!
I really enjoy the sound design and the ambience in this. The feelings conveyed through this lyrical poetry is such a fresh breeze.

This album is my pick for 2020-when I am old and think back to this time. This is the album.
This album made me feel a lust for life again. It also made me feel a bunch of things I hadn't felt for the last 7 months.
And i see flowers on top right every video with the meaning of it oh Robin you beautiful soul
Aha “now the quarter moon is out “ line refers to how this is FF 4th album. That’s my interpretation. Can’t wait for #5!
The quarter moon was the phase on the day this album was released, though you might be right as well.
This is a receipt of how I was here 40 minutes after this was uploaded. Tears will dry on their own.
The references and mentions of David Berman make me tear up.
Somehow I see my life flashes before my eyes while listening
I haven't listened to it yet and, I am beyond excited to sit back and get lost in this album tonight.
“I remember hoping I’d remember nothing” yeah.... been there before
It's a beautiful thing!
I can imagine listening to this on a cliffside
perfect closure for an album
and I added this album to my bandcamp collection after the music is over
this album really deserves it
your band is mad-good
You guys make the most beautiful music.
A beautiful ending to a beautiful album
Beautiful
I remember Prine.

Robin just needs to keep producing every album.
Skye's work was great.
☁☁☁ dreamy song
This reminds me of how Grizzly Bear typically ends their albums.
And I'm completely okay with that.
Their drummer is all over this album- maybe there was some inspiration there...
@@DarkeningSkies1 Definitely Chris Bear on this track, especially the outro.
Qué bello... 🌜
When will this concert disband? I'm not sure when it'll happen.
