Thanks for this Dan. Prepping for a shoot tomorrow and was playing around with Slow Mo. Was scared to crank the iso up to 6400 as was quite low light but worked a dream so thanks for your tips here man!
I record in 1080p, it makes the batterys last longer, critical for my kind of event work. Usualy clients want to output to social media so recording in 4k is prob an overkill. (FOR ME)
I have the Canon R6. You talk about 120fps and 4k 60 fps. I only see (high frame rate) 100fps and 4k 50fps???.. When I shoot 100fps, 1/200 and ISO 800 the quality is soooooo bad!! What am I doing wrong? And why can’t I see 120fps or 4k 60fps?
The quality of the Canon R6 in 120fps and 100fps is not the best...however make sure you set the shutter speed to 1/200 for 100fps and 250 for 120fps....I prefer shooting 4K 60fps and slow it down in post. For what concerns the fact that you can't find 24, 60 and 120fps....check out this video and it's ll solve this th-cam.com/video/91BlvLg1SUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HdqwNCd_ZrWDlh3D
Thank you you are my first video I am watching to learn slow motion video. I am a photographer of wildlife, however so these settings would not be for outside am I correct?
Hi Dan, this is Luca from Roma, I’d like to have your opinion. I’m not a professional photographer and I have a Canon Eos Rp. Do you think is better change my Rp with a R6 or keep my Rp and buy another second hand camera like Eos R or another brand like Fujifilm XT4? Is the R6 a really game changer? I’m most a photographer instead of videomaker. Sorry for my bad English. Thanks a lot in advance
Hi Luca! If your priority is photography, the EOS R is a wonderful camera, I use it a lot for stills. The R6 is great but if you're not a professional and you're not much into videos...i would get a Canon EOS R if I were you (which is really good for both photos and videos anyway)...and don't worry, your English is good. Forza Roma! (Waiting for "some reason" for the 25th of May...)
@@DanFrullani thanks Dan, as usual your answers are fast and helpful. Regarding to our waiting for the 25th of May the reason is the same. “🎶🎶🎶 I tuoi colori sventolo, i brividi mi vengono, no mi stanco mai di te, Forza grande Roma alé🎶🎶🎶”👍🏻
I dont have them frame rates in my r6 settings. I have 1080 i can only go to 100 fps and in 4k 50 fps. Is thia because of uodates. Is that a fix for over heating or an i missing something. Thanks Andy
That's because you're probably living in Europe, UK or any other country where the default video system is PAL. Look into the settings (I've made a couple of videos about this) and switch to NTSC...and you will hav 24, 30, 60fps and 120fps for super slow motion. But again, watch my videos about this topic because there are situations where filming in PAL (25,50,100fps) is a better choice. Have a great day!
How did you do that little speed up of the duck at 6:58 ? Where you filming in 120 frames the whole time and then made it go faster in post ? Or did you switch back to 24frames ? Also are you using a gimbal ? BTW thanks for your videos they are amazing and helpful with my canon r6! 😊
that was shot in 120fps and sped it up to real time speed in that sequence. I never use gimbals for my TH-cam videos unless I have to talk about a specific gimbal and show how it performs with a specific combo camera/lens. I tend to use gimbals exclusively for professional works, but not always. Thank you so much for watching my videos and have a great day!
i need some help, i did a video in 120p with my R6 but my client want the video on regular time. i can't find the % correctly to use in premiere pro. can someone help me?
Hi Dan. Thanks for all your great and entertaining videos! In another video I watched on TH-cam someone said that the R6 will automatically set the shutter speed needed when switching to high frame rate mode without any manual changes being made. In your video you state that shutter speed needs to be changed to 1/250 manually after entering the high frame rate mode. Can we help each other clarify what is valid and not please. /Peter
As far as I know when switching to high frame rate the shutter speed does not automatically set itself to the one we need but rather, be default, to 1/125...but for high frame rate 120fps we need 1/250.... Also...when we disable high frame rate...the shutter speed goes again to 1/125 no matter what frame rate we select...we ALWAYS need to adjust the shutter speed manually and it has to be double the frame rate: for example when we shoot 24fps the shutter speed has to be 1/50. Thanks for your comment.
I will call Canon official tech support and ask them. I will get back here and tell you what their answer to the queston is as soon as they have replied 👍
I have now talked to a Canon representative at Canon Tech Support team and the answer they gave is that the camera in high frame rate mode tries its best to set a matching shutterspeed automatically but they recommend the photographer, despite this, to set the shutter speed manually since the camera can guess an inaccurate setting from time to time.

This is because you're using it in PAL, if you switch to NTSC all the other frame rates will come out. Can you do a video where you show how you physically move along with your camera when shooting at different frame rates?
Is there any way to prevent light flickering when shooting in 120fps?
To prevent the flickering when shooting in 120fps in a country where the system is Pal...you should use continuous lights only such as LEDs.
I shoot a lot of live performances at nightclubs and DJs, the lights always flicker on the DJ board and if there are any colored LEDS in the clubs
I record in 1080p, it makes the batterys last longer, critical for my kind of event work. Usualy clients want to output to social media so recording in 4k is prob an overkill. (FOR ME)
