Amen, Brother Dave!!! Thanks for drawing attention to this issue. It's also problematic to select the correct aftermarket tires from USA based suppliers of the excellent tires the manufacture or distribute. With many of these cars ans the myriad of wheel designs and arrangements that they are supplied with it's very difficult to determine.which aftermarket tires will fit. And though they are not expensive I, for instance, am reluctant to order (the probably 2 dozen or so) sets I need to get because I can't be sure they will be what I really need! And shipping costs of such parts I can't use is too expensive, sometimes more than doubling the end cost of the parts ordered. I could go on "whining" here but i think these are legitimate concerns the retailers AND manufacturers need to address and clarify. Thanks for the rantal space!😤😭🤪😜
I know exactly what you mean. WASPSlot do a reasonable matrix of which tyres fit which cars, but it's not exhaustive. Others could do the same or better. I hesitate buying tyres because I'm just not sure what fits what. I only recently bought some NSR tyres for my Carrera GT3s because Dave gave us the exact part number to order. I've since bought four sets. Information = sales.
Never seen one that severe. However, have many that developed “flat spots” from just sitting. You can try to store them off the tires but I’ve noticed the tires still degrade very quickly. My solution has been to replace with Paul Gage tires. Actually, I won’t purchase a Carrera car without a replacement set.
I love carrera, my track is carrera, most of my cars are carrera, but their tires are garbage!! Also, like you were saying the lack of parts (tires, good tires, wings)is pathetic! It's like the U.S. Market doesn't matter to them! I mean seriously zero advertising, I'm 60 and most people younger than me don't even know what slot cars are! At least scalextric makes a Ernest attempt for the U.S. Market, if I was running Carrera I would be advertising during Indycar,IMSA,T.A.,and Nascar races. I have most of the scalextric vintage T.A. cars, and Indy cars, I also have all the Ninco C.A.R.T. Era cars, all on display as shelf queens as well as more if each I use for racing ,l may have a problem lol. Anywho thats just my opinion.
Tyres is a massive problem- I collect a wide rage of Vintage to Current cars - I have been trying to get tyres for cars I had when I was a child - Playcraft Champion cars - no joy tried everywhere- if you can advise of anyone that could help, I’d be delighted Ken
Hi Dave I have a question for you I need replacement pinions for my ninco anglewinder motors where can I find them or a replacement to keep those cars running ? Thank you in advance Sam
Is this the reason why Carrera does not print Tire Mfg. names on tires anymore?? Did tire mfg send a seize and desist order as people could draw conclusions from "branded" slot car tires to the real product?
They don't make slots like they used to. I still have my Aurora AFX track sets and cars from the early 80's from my child hood and other than cleaning and what not, it good as new.
This is why, in my previous slot car life, I made molds of all the Carrera tires on my cars. That way, when the stock tires eventually liquified I had exact replacements in urethane. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep those molds. But I am going to start doing it again with my current cars.

Thanks again for putting a spotlight on this issue.
Of course, this is an important issue.
Well said Dave!!!
This issue has caused me to severely reduce my purchases from Carrera. I need about 20 sets of tires for the vintage Nascar and that is ridiculous.
Making molds for the vintage tires is looking more.n more.a necessity. Thanks dave..happy Sunday
Old school Carrera cars had decent rubber tires. The newer tires seem more like vinyl than rubber.

That's why Paul Gage, Quik Slicks, covers their carrera, fly, all manufacturers....
Thanks Dave very good info.
Glad it was helpful!

Unfortunately, I’ve reduced my Carerra purchases for this very reason unless I lnow I can replace the tires from a 3rd party manufacturer.
yep its a problem thanks
My Ferrari sits in the bench because if melted front tires
G'day big problem 😮😮

If you have an original tire, you can make your own. It’s not hard at all.
@@shotgundaveslotcars Thanks! Can you point us to a youtube video or other source for how-tos?

anglewinder pinions are pretty much the same. find a replace with the same number of teeth and you should be ok with a brass one from NSR or Slot It.

I can’t say for sure, but yes I’d be willing to bet it’s licensing issue like you mentioned.

I've never had this happen. Maybe because I don't buy Carerra products. 😅
Sure could be.

You'd have a market keen and waiting.
