This is very hard to do, but these women do it so perfect. It's really beautiful to see. I saw the Rockettes do this in the Passion Play for Christmas 1983 at Radio City Music Hall. It was absolutely Beautiful! Great job, ladies. Keep doing it.
When I went to see it mid way through the fall they had a mishap and started actually falling very fast, but before the whole line had fell someone had regained balance and they continued normally.

Plus might've been more of a challenge had you've been in her shoes with only a pillow to fall back to. A "great job!" Applies to every one of the team nonetheless though! I just saw this last week at Radio City Music Hall during their fabulous Christmas Spectacular show. I was amazed to see the soldier fall because back in 1957, when I was in second grade and taking ballet lessons in Leavenworth, KS, about a dozen of us little girls were marching soldiers in the year end recital "Snow White". I always assumed it was somehow part of the Snow White ballet (for whatever reason!). So here was the same choreography, costumes, and music 64 years later and it turns out that this originated with the Rockettes in the 1930's. But it was so funny to remember how our ballet instructor tried so hard with us little marching soldiers to pull off this falling routine and how the last half of the girls always got squashed and burst into tears! So they dropped that from our routine. I think the Rockettes are amazing when they do it! It is not easy!!
Hahaha as a retired competitive dancer/cheerleader, I’ve also experienced overly ambitious dance teachers 😂🤦🏼♀️ their intentions are great but trying to teach kids/teenagers who do dance and cheer as a hobby, or even competitively but they also have a life, is very hard haha! Dancers like the Rockettes have to give up their whole life to rehearse and perform, and since they’re adults, they have a lot more years of training. My coaches and teachers always tried to push us but sometimes you’re like “really, girl?” 😂🤦🏼♀️ hahaha
By far the best performance of the Radio City Rockettes when I saw them in person a week before Christmas. I highly recommend to anyone visiting NYC around the Holidays to take in this performance. You won’t be disappointed.
As a dude I went along to the show, not really expecting to enjoy it, but it turned out to be the best show I’ve ever been to. It was just so much fun to watch.
I watched the rockets at Opry when I was a girl scout and I'm so glad I did. I watched a piece of history. All the women are beautiful and I cant tell they work so hard. Makes me proud to be a woman
What a lovely video. The girls are doing an amazing job, learning and performing so complex a series of falls. And it is an iconic part of the show. Hats off! Or on.
always dreamed of being a rockette as a dancer myself but knew it was futile because i’m not tall enough. i remember one coming to teach our dance class years ago and learning how to do the kick line. they bring out the child in me. love it.

I've seen the xmas show 4 times from 7-15 years old and the soldier fall NEVER GETS OLD - love love love it! muhahahahahahah it's like a cartoon come to life!
I briefly dated a former Rockette. She was originally from Syracuse. She was in her late 40s while I was in my early 30s. One evening at her place it was getting late, so I told her I had an early morning and needed to leave. Her response was, "You aren't going anywhere tonight." I replied, "I'm sorry, but I have an early appointment." Her response was, "Then you can go, but I'm not taking you." By the time I got home it was nearly 3:00am. Never date a Rockette!
Having only seen the DVD version of the Christmas Spectacular, This is my #2 favorite moment. #1 is the 12 Days of Christmas (when the ladies stop and pant, then go right back into the choreography). I am not sure that I could handle the awesomeness of seeing this show live (not kidding). If I don't pass out, I'm sure I would hear an usher whisper, "Ma'am, we need you to either calm down or wait in the lobby" ☺ But it's on my Bucket List. #Fan4Life

The first time I saw this I was intensly curious about how they would get back up. 😅 They do that after the curtain closes. They have to feel all that weight together. It's really something. The whole routine. Just waiting for that someday when I get to see the Rockettes perform.
Wouldn't it be better if they linked arms all at the same time so you don't see each individual one struggle to quickly slide her hands through? I mean this is already really impressive but I think they could improve it a little.
I used to want to be a rockette as a child, I even got to meet them backstage when I was younger. I honestly don’t remember what changed but I still choose to stay in show biz so 🤷🏾♀️ . It’s still so magical to see even as an adult.
I hope the dance lines aren’t as horribly cruel and painful as they were in distant and not so distant history. Rockettes, Vegas showgirls, ballet, (especially cruel, that..☹️😞) and yep strippers as well, those women and men absolutely abuse their bodies for the stage. It takes pain tolerance, inhuman strength and dedication to please the bosses/directors. Yes I speak from long ago experience. I love to dance, and to get to do it as part of my gym workout and just in my home to feel happy, is a complete 180 from the strain of professional dancing. Always adored the Rockettes. Since I saw them 1st in 1973. ☺️

I admire these women so much. I saw concentration, no giggling, serious dancers getting a beloved routine down pat.
These women are athletes and I love watching them. If I ever get to New York City again, I'm definitely going to try and see them. Iconic!

I remember in the 80’s they did this very fast & spaced the dancers apart. That was the appeal of the show.It’s done too slowly now it looks stupid.
