Yet another stringline derailment involving empty centerbeams. Will they EVER learn not to put those anywhere near the head end of a train. Good grief.

The Caterpillar tractor is one of the side boom pipe layers modified for derailment work. The empty center beam car may have been pulled off the track. It is called string lining. The train make up is complex and run in of slack and run out slack on the tight radius curves can cause derailments. Center beam cars and auto rack are two of the most common cars to derail.

Tight degree jointed track really can pop wheels off the railhead -
But even if it's cwr things can go wrong

String line derailment. Empty bulkhead flatcars in the middle of the train.

Interviewees lately seem to have embarrassing talking skills. Anybody else noticing this other pandemic?

Top heavy, too fast, old tracking taking on a sharp turn.

Incorrect. The physics of this is of too much tension from both ends of the train on too-light cars that shouldn't have been in the middle at slow speeds causing them to be yoinked right off the track to the _inside_ of the turn.
