I don't like all the female byleth negativity here in the comments when she and male byleth are literally the same person especially the implication that only simps would be mad about people insulting her when there are a lot of women who love her, including myself 😑 Also Jeannie did an excellent job actually and I'm sick of people acting like her performance is somehow worse
Female byleth negativity? Bruh, Male Byleth's the one's been getting shit for the last two years. This game is probably the first time I've seen people not mock him and put Fbyleth on a pedestal.
It's an odd situation for sure. Female byleth is undoubtedly more popular and picked more often for... differing reasons. But especially now that we can see an actual talking byleth, meaning the full version of byleth, people seem to generally agree that male byleth fits the bill better than female. His voice is more monotonous, his facial expressions sharper and more stoic and his design fits a hardened merc more than that of female byleth (blame the designers for needlessly sexualising it). Male byleth is simply more believable as "ashen demon" because of his overall presentation. And you really feel it in the cutscenes of 3 hopes. He actually feels intimidating. Female byleth has more "personality" in her voice, softer facial expressions (those big eyes lol) and ofc her controversial impractical attire. It doesn't help that they really feel like entirely different characters even though they're supposed to just be carbon copies of each other. One with boobs, one without. Same thing with shez tho. They feel like entirely different characters as well. Although in that case I personally prefer female shez. Not in terms of design, but in terms of voicing. So my personal go-to Setup would always be male byleth and female shez.

Tbh I really disliked Hana from Fates and I always considered her my least favorite character from FE, but wow oh wow Leonie really took the cake when I first got to her support with Byleth.
This support truly shows how Byleth is... someone's child. She isn't just a mentor, a badass warrior or a teacher, but also someone who looks up to her dad... I really love it!
I’ve played as male!Byleth most in my Three Houses game because I liked his design more than female ( I don’t hate her )and I’ve grown quite fond of him from replaying Three Houses many times. Hearing him speak just makes me feel more sad that he was robbed of being able to speak for us the players to hear, I think if he actually “talked” people would’ve liked Byleth a bit more. Also this support is so wholesome. 😭
There was no reason to make him a silent protagonist. The Byleths had so much character (despute being the "robotic" type, they still had a lot of charisma and sweetness) that even being silent they could express a lot
The one good thing they do with Byleth in this game and the very small amounts of supports they have (with shez and jeralt) is that we get to see a bit of the character arc Byleth was always intended to have. An emotionally stunted person (from Rhea’s experiments and rough mercenary upbringing) learning to feel, express themselves, and care for their students. (The first solid relationship they ever have in their lives). Eventually ended with them finding love. Unfortunately this went over so many players heads because of the silent protagonist thing which is my biggest gripe with OG three houses Had Byleth been full voiced and got the same amount of care and attention every other main character in three houses got they easily would’ve gone down as one of, if not the best, FE protagonists of all time

In a game with no character customization, why not go the Alm route and make him his own character? I’d understand for Corrin and Robin but for Byleth there was less of an excuse
@@Rexis102 I'd say it was due to backlash from Robin and Corrin's characterization, specially the latter. They are meant to be avatars and not "their own characters" unlike Alm and Celica, to name a few examples. And it makes sense in a way, you can customize the avatar, yet they have their own dialogues and therefore an already established personality (even if a basic one), so it works a bit awkward for a self-insert. In response, they made Byleth silent so you could slap in a more "self-insert personality" more easily but they neglected the customization. Also, I believe this game got released close to Persona 5 so they kinda followed that trend, that's why so many people compare the two for some strange reason. I don't think the silent treatment is bad at all. Byleth actually has a couple of main personality traits they develop throughout 3H but also leaving some things up to personal interpretations. Although I agree that having a full voiced dialogue would have helped to flesh them out more for the people that don't seem to be able to fill the blanks themselves.
I’m so very happy to hear these supports! I adore how gentle Zach Aguilar voices male Byleth and firm Jeannie Tirado voices female Byleth; hearing them like this makes me understand why the Academy folks in Three Houses really trusted them, like they’re the warmth of the sun!
If they do a remake of Three Houses someday it would be cool to see Byleth speak and an alternate cutscene where having enough supports with Jeralt saves him.
I wasn't really too attached to Jeralt in Three Houses because he just seemed quite bland and just crammed in by the writers and killed off to advance the plot. In Three Hopes though, I mysteriously liked Jeralt. I couldn't tell though if they made his writing better or if Byleth speaking made Jeralt have a little more personality via parenting.

The 2nd conversation was EXACTLY how I imagined Byleth and Jeralt's supports. I really love these. I've been having fun taking Byleth out on expeditions. He's so cute.
Watching this helps me understand why Byleth's chosen love interest in Three Houses is usually so surprised he/she reciprocates their feelings and the proposal. It also makes people like Marianne look even braver in my eyes for proposing to someone who doesn't show many emotions.
I still don’t like the idea that Byleth doesn’t get to be among the others versus the bonds they build in the original. But this is sweet. Really, really sweet. With a hint of bittersweet since I heard you can only kill Byleth… And their mention of what could’ve been…
This is awesome but I wish Byleth had like I don't know more support convos with different characters, like I wasn't expecting Byleth to have convos with every single characters but I would've assume he would have ones with the lords at least... Sigh oh well
Well rhea created Byleth’s mother to be nothing more than a body vessel for sothis. So makes sense why they would struggle with their emotions. Only through jeralt (for Sitri) and Byleth students (In the OG three houses) do they learn to feel and care for their loved ones. At least that was the intended character arc for Byleth (which is why you decide who to S support at the end. Byleth finally feels enough to love someone). Unfortunately because they chose to make Byleth a silent protagonist this went over so many players heads. Had Byleth been full voiced and gotten the attention that every other main character in three houses got they could’ve gone down as one of the best FE protagonists of all time. Instead most people think they are a boring self-insert (which I don’t blame them for) because of how lackluster the silent protag feels next to all the other main characters that are so fleshed out and fully voiced with amazing voice actors
It’s more fitting for Male Byleth than Female Byleth since male version is incredibly stoic & emotionless, & I love that since it fits his name “The Ashen Demon” perfectly well for him.

I already liked Byleth in Three Houses, but I now even like this character even more in Three Hope since they have a bit more personality. I think Byleth has now become one of my favorite Fire Emblem characters, especially the male version because he sounds gentle & that stoicalness fits his personality perfectly well. I like Female Byleth but I don’t like her outfit much, plus her known as the Ashen Demon is less fitting than the Male Byleth since he’s emotionless, which fits his him well & I love that.

I feel like im missing something here, people keep saying Byleth had no voiced lines at all in three houses when im pretty sure thats not true. as I for sure remember her speaking her surprize when she discovers her hidden talent in faith. But regardless she is much better portrayed here in three hopes.

@@29go in dialogue options in three houses Byleth dose speak sentences it's just that his or her lines were not voice. But in three hopes you're not playing as Byleth and because of it you get to hear their voice more frequently.

Watching this helps me understand why Byleth's chosen love interest in Three Houses is usually so surprised he/she reciprocates their feelings and the proposal.
It also makes people like Marianne look even braver in my eyes for proposing to someone who doesn't show many emotions.

Yeah you can save Byleth and Jeralt, in fact it seems things only get worse if you don't.

It's not weird for Byleth to call Jeralt by his name rather than "Father". Most characters just call their parents by name.
So wait Byleth is also mostly emotionless just by regular genetics!? Like their mom was just like them!
Well rhea created Byleth’s mother to be nothing more than a body vessel for sothis. So makes sense why they would struggle with their emotions. Only through jeralt (for Sitri) and Byleth students (In the OG three houses) do they learn to feel and care for their loved ones.
At least that was the intended character arc for Byleth (which is why you decide who to S support at the end. Byleth finally feels enough to love someone).
Unfortunately because they chose to make Byleth a silent protagonist this went over so many players heads. Had Byleth been full voiced and gotten the attention that every other main character in three houses got they could’ve gone down as one of the best FE protagonists of all time.
Instead most people think they are a boring self-insert (which I don’t blame them for) because of how lackluster the silent protag feels next to all the other main characters that are so fleshed out and fully voiced with amazing voice actors

I already liked Byleth in Three Houses, but I now even like this character even more in Three Hope since they have a bit more personality. I think Byleth has now become one of my favorite Fire Emblem characters, especially the male version because he sounds gentle & that stoicalness fits his personality perfectly well. I like Female Byleth but I don’t like her outfit much, plus her known as the Ashen Demon is less fitting than the Male Byleth since he’s emotionless, which fits his him well & I love that.

I feel like im missing something here, people keep saying Byleth had no voiced lines at all in three houses when im pretty sure thats not true. as I for sure remember her speaking her surprize when she discovers her hidden talent in faith.
But regardless she is much better portrayed here in three hopes.

for some reason male byleth's actor sounds....robotic in this conversation but likely cause of who Byleth is and Jeannie Tirado Byleth sounds more emotional but again likely cause who Byleth is in Three Houses and their circumstances during that, F!Byleth x Jeralt is better in my opinion here

They always talked. Intsys was just dumb and made Byleth's lines unvoiced.
@@nuibaba280 well he was supposed to be a self insert character and choosing a voice for you can sully the immersion, that being said I mean he really talks, instead of just one liners and nods, he speaks full sentences
@@29go in dialogue options in three houses Byleth dose speak sentences it's just that his or her lines were not voice. But in three hopes you're not playing as Byleth and because of it you get to hear their voice more frequently.
Hes a silent protagonist in 3 houses, but a secondary character in 3 hopes, secondary characters tend to talk more in this kind of games.
@@29go Byleth spoke full sentences in the original game. The dialogue wasn't voiced however.
