Dont know where you are based, Try local piers , watch how locals do it and talk to them
Try work your gear as low as you can without getting a snag the squid usually sit deeper and work your jig slow

@@teeanahera8949 I’m not talking about the lead weight at the bottom of the jig. It looks like on one of his jigs there is a weight that he’s put on the head of the jig. Iv seen some for sale but they’re only for negative buoyancy. I’m looking for a weighted jig head

Do you think colours actually make a difference when squid fishing?
That’s an interesting question, most colours are made for the fisher person rather than what fish/squid see. Colours can be seen in shallow water but if you’ve ever been a diver you’d know that the colours disappear one by one (each different wavelength is absorbed by the water at different depths away from the Sun), blue is the last colour to go (why we have a blue sky). So in deep water only blue can be seen. Some species would see in ultraviolet and infrared so we can’t even make those colours and if you could you wouldn’t be able to see them, (the Predator from the movie could though).
