2022 it’s been one of the best years in this community just because of you. I’ve considered twice become a Patreon myself and one of the beneficiaries must be you…
Picked up my Filson cruiser a few years back based on your thought that it might go up in price. Sure enough in 6 months or so it went up $100! You’re on it Carl!
Carl, because of your recommendation I began looking into the Weather Wool Al’s Anorak and finally bought one. Thank you making me aware of this great product and company. Everything you say about it is true. It’s unbelievably comfortable and I never want to take it off.
Bro I have the AAJ (All Around Jacket) from weatherwool. This company is amazing. I live just under an hour away from their headquarters in NJ. Ralph and his wife Debbie are the sweetest people. They really know their stuff. Their outerwear is amazing and is totally BIFL. Smoothest wool ever and the construction is impeccable. I put myself down on the waiting list for the women’s coat (gift for my wife) and he’s got a peacoat in the works that I might want. Anyway, glad to hear you like weatherwool as much as I do.
The Jim Green African Ranger are a killer boot for the price .. and a good cause .. I upgraded the insole they are very comfortable!! I sprayed them with Saphir waterproof spray
Love my heritage tankers! Sadly I wasn't able to get the special sole version...but cest la vie. Most comfortable boots I've ever owned and agree, the lack of laces is amazing!
Picked up a Heat Straps Truckman off of your rec, have loved it so much that I ordered a Chief in Tan with the cord collar. I love that on spite of being rugged work pieces you can dress them up or down.
I've been thinking a lot along similar lines, not so much what is a must buy as what are the things I already have and need to pay attention to and care for for the rest of the my life. This list is great for things that I'm missing, however. An anorak is the ultimate hoodie, and you have identified a great brand for that. Thanks for the video.
Great stuff! Just wish a lot of the products were more budget friendly. Budget work shirts, pants, button ups. Maybe I have missed them since I just found your channel. I can't factor $500 casual boots into my life honestly
Another great video, partly why I have Jim Green boots and a pair from Franks boots. That Ciano farmer chore coat you mentioned awhile back can be had with a wool liner. That or the Heat strap/weather wool from this video are my next to get.
The Jim Green African rangers are great Just got a pair .. up graded the insoles and longer generation laces I’m that dark green .. Saphir waterproofed them
Great video Carl! Really got me thinking abou those Ruitertassen bags now. Also love to see Dehen getting some love in this video too! By the way it is pronounced Dee-En. Thanks a lot for this top 10. Happy holidays!
If I'm spending that much on work pants (my current primary pair are) they're getting everything I can throw at them. May be why my custom double knees are paint and poly speckled, but they reflect my life through and through
Cool vid bro, now do a poor man's version! The Jim Green rangers are the only thing on your list I could afford. Leatherman Skeletool pocket knife is $40, ultra light, slim, and razor sharp. We broke out here.
I can throw you a few: Tanker boots - Corcoran. That's what the real US Army tankers wear. Double-front work pants - Carhartt. Still MiUSA Anorak - Asbell Wool. G Fred Asbell is a LEGEND in the traditional bowhunting community. His stuff's the real deal. And waaaay cheaper. Bags - Frost River. Tough as nails. Great value for MiUSA bags. Sweater - LL Bean. I think Carl mentioned that in his other cardigan video. Small pocket knife - Gerber LST. Best $20 I ever spent. MiUSA too!
Hey Carl, Another cool feed here man. Love your channel, I’ve stopped using leather wallets like 20 years ago because they tend to make your ass sweat in that spot in the summertime hah! I use the tin cloth Filson wallet and they last me years. On another topic, I’m finally breaking in my Nick’s Urban Loggers here and I love them man, thanks for your awesome reviews 🤟
I appreciate your top buy it for life items, that being said… if it’s not 100% American made I personally don’t consider it a buy it for life item. Anyone else can say or think what they want but the prospect of handing down foreign made stuff (with few exceptions) does not excite me whatsoever.
Carl, did you guys make a pact down in Austin to try to match Siers’ yeard? I noticed that not only is Mike trying to grow a beard period, but you and Taylor (Tay-Tay) are growing out your length. Looks like you’ve got some good potential for a wedge going on there.
The Jim greens are nice, unfortunately I think I ended up getting a half size too small as changing out my insoles into something beefier resulted in the end of the tongue jabbing into my big toe when walking.
I could definitely tell the beard was getting longer, and it looks great! Definitely cracked a smile when you said you're getting married to the Himel Bros wallet
I'm glad Weatherwool's anorak made the list - I own one of their all-around jackets and it is AMAZING and even more flexible than the anorak - I think their clothing is about to go ballistic viral and be like the shipp jacket and soon unobtanium -- Nice job as always, Carl !!! (PS, Own a pair of Jim Green's too ! PPS -- that chief coat may be sturdy, but finally goes over the line in ugly IMHO)
Just got my Patriot coat. (Chief coat with wool lining) and it's an amazing coat. Water resistant, but even in heavy rain it's closer to water proof. The wax coat is very effective. Very warm. Only downsides are that it's heavy and stiff when new, but I don't mind one bit.
I have, and I bought one. Their big selling point is their collabs and new colors every few weeks. Quality-wise theyre decent but nothing to write home about.
Aw damn it this video cost me some money. I knew if I watched this video I would have to get my wallet out! The only thing I could afford on the list is the Jim Green boots, they look nice quality and I needed an extra pair of boots to wear. BTW I have recently bought a Pro-Tech knife not the model that you reviewed l love that thing by the way! But you are correct the action on their automatic knives are insane. My Pro-Tech knife flies out of there scary fast!

Yessir African Rangers all the way. I wear mine everyday for work, school, and everything else.

Tell me about that Flannel shirt you have on. It’s nice.

Hello Carl, can you make a video on what boots you prefer when riding a motorcycle? And what heritage brands do well on the road?
Nothing like high quality heirloom products
Great video as always
What kind of flannel are you wearing!?
What shirt is that Carl?
I like the Ariat Rebar tees!

I hope to one day be able to buy something from Dehen, they got beautiful pieces
I hope so too, they're unbelievably good.
Im very interested in the shirt you're wearing in this video.

I could definitely tell the beard was getting longer, and it looks great! Definitely cracked a smile when you said you're getting married to the Himel Bros wallet
Hahahaha I hope we'll be very happy together.
The chief coat link goes to the nicks site. There has to be a lead time which i dont see
Is the dehen 1920 itchy like most other things wool?

I have their AAJ. Weatherwool is freaking awesome. It’s an inside brand for us BIFLers. In a way I like it like that. Our little secret.
Forgive me for asking, but what the heck is "BIFLers" I could only find a French slang term. I'm thinking I didn't find the one you're referring to!
As far as the chief coat goes... is it practical enough to use as a casual coat for new england weather?
Just got my Patriot coat. (Chief coat with wool lining) and it's an amazing coat. Water resistant, but even in heavy rain it's closer to water proof. The wax coat is very effective. Very warm. Only downsides are that it's heavy and stiff when new, but I don't mind one bit.
Any recommendation for size 16 boots? I think I have to go custom. I have two pairs of Red Wings but they have very limited options in my size.
Great style and taste my .man!!
Thank you kindly!
going to be reviewing any truewerk coming up?
Yes indeed!!!
Have you ever considered trying the Tin Duck Denim co. Trucker jacket? I ordered one a week ago, I can’t wait for it to show up!
Yes, absolutely! And I'd like to compare it with the Ship John and Heat Straps.
Nice to see a Newenglander! where are you located?
Central Connecticut, I love this region of the country!

Do you think the tankers are popular enough that I can wait to buy or should I just bite the bullet?
I think you can wait, it seems like Nicks is going to keep them around as a standard model without all the special details.
Hey Carl are you going to do socks review ? What better to go with expensive good boots than socks 🫣
