My dad and I love this track for different reasons:
My dad likes it because it’s a simple oval.
I like it because it’s hell in a oval.
I like baby park because THE 7 LAPS
I'd think the lap number becomes a sprite because:
- A lap number is just a sprite. Digits only go 0-9, so there are no more after 9.
- It tries to access the 10th sprite after the sprite for 0. There's no bound check for this array access and it continues into other sprite storage and grabs the sprites located sequentially in memory.

Well, that digital seven for the lap count explained itself. Despite the displays glitching, it was able to keep track of the number of laps!
I think the reason that the lap counter becomes the item sprites is because I think the number sprites for the lap counter are stored on the same sprite sheet as the HUD item sprites, so when you move on to lap 10 it goes to the next sprite on the sprite sheet, which would be the green shell, etc.
The different font for numbers is for the speed meter
Imagine a track like this in real life and having to cycle 58 laps in total and face the biggest amount of dizziness

Edit: to keep from getting infinite errors, disable Panic Handlers in Configuration. Enhancements should be fine.

This video is a glaring example of why I don't, & never will, like Baby Park. No matter what you do on that track, it all comes down to item luck. Besides, its one. Single. Loop. For 7 laps. How do people enjoy this?!

Yes, they were ultimate items exclusive to the respective characters.
Big Banana, Bowser shell, Green fireball, eggs and heart never returns. Fireball is basically fire flower and chain chomp was going to be in MKDS but was later changed to the bullet bill.

There are no textures for the board with lap numbers larger than nine, so it reuses the last one.
It seems to be pulling images off a imagemap of some kind. doesnt look like 58 laps covers all the images. i would love to see what happens if you go over it.
i tried to increased until 255, sometimes there are random crash but it's worked ! (255 = FF in hex value)

Let's do some math,
So I've seen that it takes 1 minute and 15 seconds on average to complete a lap on wario colosseum in 150cc, so 58 laps of that will take 58*75 seconds. That number will be 4,350 seconds to complete, which is 72.5 minutes which you'll need at least 1 hour and 12 minutes to complete.
And with items, it will likely be about the same time as the length of Land Before Time X (85 minutes).

Most likely cause: Mario Kart Double Dash crashes in the Dolphin emulator after 58 laps, possibly because the 59th graphic that is used to display the lap number doesn't exist, and so the game reads garbage data that makes it crash.
