@@pubrally I have 5 R/C boats but have never raced them. My wife and I met racing sailboats so it is a great way to still enjoy sailing in a land locked area (Colorado). we sail 45-ft cats for fun on blue water. THe RC boats are different because you don't have the same feel of the wind, but they can respond quickly if you watch for shifts coming across the water.
Rich B It looks like a blast im definitely gonna give it a try . I dream of sailing a nice big cat someday . My wife and I race a 1983 Catalina 22 for fun up in SF bay . Sadly all the races are cancelled for the Time being .
@@pubrally I started racing lightnings. The RC boats are fun and they are not toys. They really sail well. Look for a wide beam to reduce heel. The RC lasers look pretty good, but I have not sailed one yet.
wow-that was great to watch ! that quick tack right after the start for the #25 boat was amazing - in so many classes you couldn't pull that off, but in these IOMs-it works. then that #09 boat slips by him downwind.....arrrrrrrrrrrg!
There are two servos. One controls rudder, and the other controls the sail trim on both the main and jib. On downwind points of sail you will lots of wiggling as the skippers try to get the sails to lay up just right.
The theory is exactly the same, however due to size and weight, these little RC boats respond to much faster to inputs and to shifts in wind. A large boat can take a while to recover from a bad tack whereas these boats can catch a breeze almost instantly.
Spent all day in the dinky retrieving wayward yachts and moving bouys at this event I remember it was bloody cold out there!
Exciting stuff , but I wish the camera had stayed with the leaders . Specially going round the windward buoy .
I never knew I wanted to get into mini sailboat racing till now . This seems like a blast .
Do most these folks race regular sailboats as well . I feel like this would be great training for that extra edge on my fri night beer can regattas?

25 lost in the 2nd upwind pressing too much to windward.
Che cosa serve quella pallina 🥎 sull’antenna ? Bellissimo 👌🏻
This is Americas Cup in 10 years. Only they will be 20 meter long and will go up to 150 knots of speed.
super la cours .quel tipe de bateau c est
The Brits drive on the wrong side of the road and go around the track clockwise! Is anyone going to tell them?
Such a nice race!, which one is FRAKTAL?? there's any list about Number -> skiper -> boat??
Regards
This looks like fun! what controls do they have , apart from the obvious one of rudder?

Which one is Stuart little in?
How much if a difference is there in RC sailing than actually sailing from in a life size boat. Is it harder or easier to read shifts?
Im a new sailor (Actual not RC) and i do both 420 and J-24, both are really fun to race! but what exactly are you asking?
Its very similar in all respects.
you swim more often when sailing a full size sailboat .especially when sailing dinghies

i prefer the rc ducks
