  • Having trouble figuring out how to combine vocal takes into one?
Today I'm going to show you the process of *comping vocals from multiple vocal recordings in FL Studio.* This is combining audio clips in FL Studio. It's basically merging audio tracks together in FL Studio, or Vocal Comping, to make one cohesive vocal track. Once you consolidate your vocal recordings, then you can process that track as one, which is convenient later in the mixing process, rather than having to keep up with lots of audio clips.

Hey Production Dan. Like your videos, you are a great teacher! What do you recommend for someone who just wants to record vocals and acoustic guitar? I have been playing around with FL studio for many years so I kinda dont know any other DAW at all. But noone is mentioning FL studio as the best one for my purpose. I have only watched three of your videos, so I dont know if you are using anything else as well. With tutorials with a quality like you made here I can see myself using FL studio.

Should I merge all my vocal takes dry and then tune them and add eq and compression so all my effects are constant and don’t sound different

Hey man... Love your videos... Can you do a single video covering all the basics including making a beat video? Would be helpful.
By the way, love your videos. I have been following them and has helped me as I am a beginner. Would love if you make a single video combining all basic elements of the software.
I think you should connect an Instagram channel to your channel which would help asking some specific questions on producing music not possible here.
    Much love mate.

I have definitely been thinking about doing a start to finish - making a song kind of video. I will add that to the list.

my challenge been is that my vocals seem off by a mini second, and I'm wondering if its mean that's not on par with the beat. This happens after the play back though. During recordings it sounds on key, but multiple play backs, sound off a mini second. I'm wondering if this is common, and what are yall thoughts on solving this issue, thanks again family.

There are a couple things you can try. First is to adjust the buffer size. Go as low as you can without introducing clicks and pops in your recordings. You can find the buffer setting by pressing F10, going to the audio tab, and then selecting the smallest buffer size you can do. I find that 512 is usually a pretty good starting point.
The other thing to try is to adjust the playback tracking below the buffer size. You can push the audio forward or backward using the slider until you find you are hitting it right in the playlist.

    • @ProductionDen

Make sure you zoom in far enough to see them. Sometimes when you are zoomed out too far you can’t see them.

How can I automatically set recordings to be in the crossfade option?

    • @ProductionDen

I haven’t looked into that. But that would be a really good idea for the vocal parts.

Something that helps me is to think that this is the best that I can do right now, but as long as I keep growing as a musician, singer and producer, then this will not be my best song ever. I will have lots more songs ahead of me.
