Was totally expecting a "Magicians never give away their secrets" moment. But on a serious note, bro you deserve a lot more subs, i spent a good half hour binge watching your comedy playlist. solid gold!
Wow dude. You deserve some severe respect for actually giving away your process of recording and editing. Most youtubers don't seem to want to do that. I've always wanted to get into this stuff but never had the balls to, it just seems like it's too much happening at the same time. But thanks to you, it's not really as complicated as I thought. You deserve a hell lotta more subs than 70k. Cheers, mate!
My advice for anyone who wants to start with guitar video/channel etc... is it focus on the audio quality and lights. As you said, almost anyone has access to relatively good camero with the smartphones. Buying a couple of soft box and focusing on audio quality will make the difference!!
Hi, if you film your face you also have to train your facial expression, like somebody who speak to an audience for example, it looks stupid in the beginning but then you will improve
Wow. This was perfect. I’ve been looking for videos on how to do this and most just ramble on and never get to the point, or either they skip through important details and they take up like 20 to 30 minutes on just talking about themselves. Ive been frustrated because I can’t find a good video. This is the best. Simple and straight to the point!!!!!👍🏼👍🏼🔥🔥 thankyou so much!!
This is the best explanation I've seen yet for beginners in the basics of recording audio/video. I think most assume people know things they don't. Really good job!
it wasnt even that detailed yet but you got it down concisely for us as far as "what to get" and "what it does" is concerned! thank you! will be waiting for that detailed run down though! :)
Thank you !!!!!! Thank you very much man !!!! I always wanted to know how you guys record the guitar and also the HD video... Man the Audio-Video Sync thing literally enlightened me !!! Mind = Blown Thanks a lot again !!!🙌
EXCELLENT video!! will be referring to this video dozens of times I'm sure, up to now my vids cosist of me on an iphone and that's it! thanks for posting this tutorial!
in terms of syncing, filmmakers use hand clapping or a film clapper if to go fancy :). 70d (I have it from my photography past) can be tricky for using a zoom lens as the auto focus makes annoying sound, just something to keep in mind, I did a dance film once on it and only realized while shooting it (planned to use the audio right from the location but had to substitute it with a track because of that, which worked ok but extra work).
Ohhhh yes play a like chord at the beginning so I can easily synchronize the video with the audio, how did I not think of that.. all that time I've been trying to sync them by the stuff that I play (which is repeated many times in the clip) which is so hard... Thanks for the idea.
As soon as I started using natural lighting, the quality of my videos sky rocketed. Of course, investing a bit of time on learning how to edit your videos and properly implement music into it is recommendable.
The SD card also has to be Class 10 which you have there. You can see the 10 inside the C but sometimes there are cheaper ones, class 4 and class 6 or 8 I forget but you can only use Class 10 for film or you will also get skipping dropped frames etc.
Funny to see Taylor with that older style of lighting, cheap sounding mic and with a beer in his hand. 😁 Current videos are much different, much higher quality. 🤟🏻
Hey Tyler! I don't know if you're gonna read this, but could you please make more videos about your time at Berklee? I'm considering attending it but I don't really know what to expect. I know you've made a video about it already, but I would love seeing more videos about your time at Berklee. Keep up the nice vids!!!
Nice one dude when i had drums recording was easy as had all the plugins for videos but guitar been having problems but youve explained everything i need 😀👍
love your channel. big inspiration for what I want to do with my channel. I have to stick with putting all my content out with my android right now. oh well one day... haha cheers!
Ok but no one explains how they are recording video separate from recording the audio (as in different takes) and making it look like the video take was the original version of them playing the song (even though you can often see the guitar is unplugged and the player is not sitting in a position ideal for recording).
This was super insightful thank you. I am curious as to how you are positioning your lights. I am getting glare from my maple fingerboard. Curious to know more or less how you place your lights.
I know this is a bit of an old thread but from a camera perspective, what you've said assumes you're just generally filming yourself. What about fretboard shot and that type of thing? Is that done with a Go-Pro with a mount? If so, how do you mount? I quite like the mixed video where there are down the fretboard shots. Any insights?
Bro it was very helpful and thanks a lot for making this, But cam I ask 1 thing? I want to make bass lessons and for that I have to show fretboard notes how can I do that?
Hey thanks very much for this video. It really helps bring some light to me. Would you be kind share if the sony ecm-cs3 plugged into a smart phone would be good for recording the guitar from monitor speakers?
Very nice video buddy. But I have couple questions now. first, when u plug your guitar to pc does it have a sound lag?? second, is there a lot of tone/fx presets and amplifier presets in logic pro x?? third, is it possible to plug your guitar without audio interface to pc??. Sorry for my bad english tho.
I know this old video. So, the Ultra Plus 80mb/s 32 GB sd card would be choppy? I've heard different. But have you compared SD cards like the Ultra Plus 32 GB to the Extreme Plus before deciding on you choice go to SD card?
Just to understand..I record myself (video) with the guitar, then I separate the audio from the video to make the sound better, then I upload the video on the Final Cut to add the "new audio" to the video, then I save everything and last I share it on the social. Right??? I think I need 6 months only for 1 video. I really hope there is a faster way to make accettable guitar video.
For some reason I really thought audio and video could be done in one program...In relation to guitar recording, for me it still has to be with speaker and micro...and wet-dry-wet
He mentioned a little mic connected to the canon , but then he said about a proper big mic that goes into the conputer .Where does that get recorded .I assume on the DAW at the same time the guitar signal is going in .? Aww i dunno 😄
This is a fantastic guide. Thanks for sharing this. But I have a question. I have almost all the necessary gear to make videos , but I don't have a shotgun mic and lav mic, I only have a condenser microphone. Can I use that to record my acoustic guitar as well my voice ? Thanks
Nice dude! Can you do also how to program drums? I have cubase 7 and additive drummers but i cant decent drum tracks, i dont have a a midi keyboard, just my keyboard :) Thank you ! keep rocking!

agreed and I have watched his funny videos too
he got that subs

And for a DAW I would recommend Reaper for PC users
@@KaoswareMetal fl studio or ableton
My problem: I'm good at guitar, but I suck when I film myself
Same
I can relate to this
Same
I'm bad at guitar but good at editing and making film
Hi, if you film your face you also have to train your facial expression, like somebody who speak to an audience for example, it looks stupid in the beginning but then you will improve
Can't wait till I can afford stuff like this.
Aidan H I hope you got what you needed. You can get an interface for $50 bucks, daw is free, $30 LED light from amazon, and film with your phone.
Lance S which interface are you talking about?
@@ken-vd6ye I have a berhinger umc22 is cheap and have the job done

@@LanceSummer Thanks man! Im looking into stuff like that now

One of the most informative videos on TH-cam... ever!
Dude your cool, i type a query and you appear with the answer. Kudos to you
Very helpful tutorial. This is the most easy to follow process. Thanks for sharing.

I’m having trouble getting the SD card in my iPhone.

Man the Audio-Video Sync thing literally enlightened me !!! Mind = Blown
Thanks a lot again !!!🙌
Great video! Specifically I was struggling with lights. I think I need stronger bulbs in my soft boxes
Great video! Very informative and great demonstrations with the audio quality differences and such. Many thanks!
I have a Final Project in a computer systems class. This is going to help, thank you.
That’s an Ace video mate. Thanks for taking the time to do it. I think I’m going to try doing something my self. Just for fun.
Great video! :D
The heartbeating focus at the end gives me anxiety hahaha
It's so exciting when you realize you have all of the equipment already
EXCELLENT video!! will be referring to this video dozens of times I'm sure, up to now my vids cosist of me on an iphone and that's it! thanks for posting this tutorial!
Dude, thanks so much for doing this. It's really helped me understand this a lot more.
Thank you for this video man..really happy to see this ❣️❣️
love your channel, I always find the exact info I need in a palatable way from you!!

Very helpful indeed. Just starting my foray into creating videos and this is great info. Thanks for sharing. You have another grateful subscriber 👌
Please make a video on the whole process.
Dude!!!!! I literally posted videos a few hours ago and was wondering how to do this!? Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Ohhhh yes play a like chord at the beginning so I can easily synchronize the video with the audio, how did I not think of that.. all that time I've been trying to sync them by the stuff that I play (which is repeated many times in the clip) which is so hard... Thanks for the idea.
Using a click track/metronome is another great way to sync audio and video.
As soon as I started using natural lighting, the quality of my videos sky rocketed. Of course, investing a bit of time on learning how to edit your videos and properly implement music into it is recommendable.
Great, informative video! I especially like the part about playing in tune. That’s essential:)
Killer vid thx for posting. Appreciate you pulling back the curtains...Cheers
Dude. This was EXTREMELY helpful. Thanks a lot
That Shirt is from Costco. I have it as well. Thanks for this video. Excelletn stuff!
Great video! Very informative. I wonder if your process has changed in the past 6 years?

love that mayer solo !
I actually had a beer in my hand about to put it to my mouth when you brought that bottle up. Cheers!
This is what I needed 😊
I use Screenflow for all my video editing and it works great.
Movie studio platinum is really good for guitar covers
Funny to see Taylor with that older style of lighting, cheap sounding mic and with a beer in his hand. 😁 Current videos are much different, much higher quality. 🤟🏻
Thanks man this was very Helpful
For once someone explains recording clearly and straight to the point. Thanks!
You are the coolest dude! Thanks!
Thanks man. Very helpful video!
Great ‘diving board’ video for beginning creators! I was trying to see what craft beer you had there @ the end but my cam resolution didn’t get it.
it says "Funkin Ale" Cant seem to find it on the web though...
Thank you Music Is Win now i can start making guitar Cover .

To add to that, would you generally do that and then layer it, i.e. do two takes or have multiple cameras and do it all at once?
Great video.
