@@inyourdreams3739Schneider and Luongo Miller Silovs and Demko McLean Markstrom Most of the time Vancouver has had great Goaltending Too bad Benning didn't get any picks back for Markstrom like a 1st Round Pick that Calg got back for him
Great video Clarky was heavily headhunted awhile back and thank God Benning said name your price and gave him 100% control of everything, including who we draft or trade for, goalie wise. Scary thing is Tolipilo according to Ian has the most raw tools he's ever worked with, along with his size and athleticism that's nuts
This man needs a raise and quickly. He is a one man factory. And he should have a school for teaching other goalie coaches after retirement. Until we got him, we were a goalie graveyard and ever since, we have options as trade bait and anytime one of our goalies deserves a major raise, we can trade him and we always have a spare. This man has created a coaching position that rivals no one
@kleung9717 you’re looking at it from a narrow lens. He is the Director of Goaltending. All he can control is the performance of a single position, he has no say in roster construction, tactics, matchups, etc. He can only be judged by the performance of his goaltenders. Bobrovsky won a Vezina in his first year under Clark, and then again 3 years later. Luongo was a Vezina finalist, and now Demko is as well. That is a proven track record.

He is a great goalie coach. Sad that his books are so hard to get. My goalie has one of them and we have done everything we can to get the other two including contacting the Canucks and attempting to contact the man on LinkedIn. Being a goalie in Australia means getting goalie coaches is difficult. Wish there were more books available!
Great video, really enjoyed the clip selection. It's a little outside the scope, but would be interested in learning how Luongo's style changed between Clark and Rollie Melanson.
0:51 - You have to think that he didn't reveal his entire methodology since he is helping the Canucks compete for a Stanley Cup. It's like giving away your full recipe to the competiiton. And I would assume that he has developed more advanced training since the book which he has yet to reveal and won't until he retires.
They said Markstrom would trend downward just like Bobrovsky did when they got traded away from Clarke. Didn’t this guy literally write the book on goaltending? I remember when his contract expired a few seasons ago and Van gave him what he wanted to stay with the Canucks. Probably the most sought after goalie coach in the league, Vancouver is lucky to have him.
I didn’t like how the first one came out months ago, so I redid it. Made it one video instead of splitting it, and added highlights to show what Clark teaches.
Yeah and Jerry Rive became great not due to raw skills, but the man's work ethic was insane and he became number 1 all time. Practice, practice and more practice!
lol has nothing to do with goaltending….its how the league organizes things.., to make teams look good…teams are games are all predetermined…hahhaha plus so much more
As a ex Flames fan I can tell you Vancouver has always had outstanding goaltending and now I know why. Thanks.
always ? they were a goalie graveyard for a number of years
@@inyourdreams3739 I think they meant once we got out of those graveyard years, we have been blessed with great goalies
Prehistory, McLean, skip about 10 years, Luongo, Schneider, Miller, Markstrom, Demko, Vislov? Pretty decent for last 18 or so years.

I’m also excited for Tolopilo. I think he will be Abby’s starter next season.
good up and coming goaltenders make it known they want to come to vancouver because of clarke. lock him up for as long as he wants to work.
I was so happy to hear that he re-signed a year or two ago. He is the best goaltending coach in the league, and the Canucks are lucky to have him.

what is his track record? i dont get it, who are his cup winning students?

This is a great dissertation of the position and their mentor, well done fella!
Love this breakdown. Most channels focus on Offence or Defence. Goalies are always a mystery.
More goalie content coming this weekend!
I agree, i think Markstrom was at his best his last 2 years in canucks
great video. so much talent has come out of vancouver
Cant wait for him to get Silovs to the next level especially those Point shots that Edm scored on us
Excellent ! Thanks

Thanks for the idea!
Clark is the best coach!
None of this makes any sense to me as a skater but god damn Ian Clarke is the man, so glad he stayed with the club
Best man out there is.

Great vid!
he was also my goalie coach and I'm sitting on my ass working an office job
We never had any elite goaltending but 1 now maybe Demko
Schneider and Luongo were Elite
Demko was a Vezina Finalist
Silovs will be solid
We've had some great Goalies
Good work guys

meanwhile, the leafs seem to have the anti-version of this guy.
Curtis Sanford, former goalie coach of the Abby Canucks
Why is there only one guy in the NHL doing this? Or are they all employing similar tactics, but he outweighs them all?
Every team has a guy. For example the Rangers have Benoit Allaire. He's been kinda successful (Lundquist, Shesterkin, Talbot, Gregoriev, Raanta).
That was some elite goaltending last night by Silvos😂
Everyone has bad games, hes still young
Skinner as well 😅😅
Luongo didn't have him, Rolly I believe

Luongo was good long before he came to the Canucks.

2nd😢
these four goalies have 1 thing in common as of today: 0 stanley cup won
All those guys were good before they even met him.
Bobrovsky's play was significantly improved in Columbus of all places, and even he attributes it to Clark.
There is a difference between good and great
Yes, but these guys developed into elite goalies.
If good is all you want.
