Wonderful Event. The British continue to demonstrate to the World their unique ability to orchestrate profound pageantry, patriotism, sacrifice, heartfelt dignity, and respect. Greetings from "The Colonies", and may God Bless the USA, UK, and the Commonwealth.
And what if you don't believe in god? Not at all, or in another one such as Krishna, Allah, Jaweh, Ganesha, Hanuman or any of the thousands of other gods or godesses? This event forces all present to participate in a very christian service, including hymns and prayers, while (statistically) a large proportion of the population and of those present does not believe in this or any god. Isn't there something as separation of church and state? Realise that this is THE national event to remember and honour the fallen so keep your god out of it!
To. Tell. What. A message that came from an elderly gentleman. The conversation came about as i asked. Can You remember everything you seen and how it effected you. His answer has stayed with me. Just an old Soldier telling. How a war changed his life And. Body. But not his Memories
I was at this event. My wife accompanied me and we displayed with honour the family awards of 3 generations including both world wars and conflicts since. A very happy day of proud remembrance.
I first attended Remembrance 6 years ago and I’ve been doing Remembrance Sunday ever since I was 15. Everyone in Wales knew I’d be a great Queen and I took the role at 20. I’m glad Woody.EXE made this happen and he’s about to do the 2nd Festival of Remembrance during his reign in the coming days from now. I can’t believe how far Woody.EXE has come in the last 15 months as he pays tribute to me his Queen after having a tragic year and he’ll also pay tribute to the victims of United 93 in this year’s remembrance event; when he opens up about my 3 weeks illness, I will for sure cry. I’m so proud of Woody.EXE right now
As a member of The Royal British Legion Cork branch RI. I try to watch every year. It makes me so proud to see HM Armed forces past and present Remembered and Honoured. May God Bless all whom serve.
To the uploader, Leslie, I say thanks, very much. I am retired UK military living in the USA and not having a good time here. This makes me proud to be British and a former member of the Armed Forces. I am not a fan of war or the modern rescource wars of today, but I am very proud of the UK Armed Forces. Thanks again.
I want to thank you for your service as well. Without that immense effort of persons like you neither I nor anyone in western and middle europe could live in peace and freedom.
The passchendale segment always gives me chills just a waste of life and even for the most seasoned of veterans at that time just not wanting to go over because they know they may not come back is just harrowing to think the things that that generation went through is purely awe inspiring because they managed to survive true hell on earth God bless the lost generation
Opening with that version of "I Vow to Thee, My Country" was a tearjerker for sure, and even Her Majesty approved. The Muster was great as always, and at 1:13:05, another tearjerker moment.
Formidable, sensationnel, merci à tous les militaires anglais pour leurs participations héroïques aux deux guerres mondiales. Un ancien sergent instructeur de la Force Aérienne Belge
May we remember always and be forever grateful. While having worn the red poppy many times I do not think I have ever seen such a splendid ceremony honoring those who, like Americans, have given their lives in defense of our freedom. Wondering whether the project that I started to design at my University with one of yours ever happened.
Definitely. I went to Belgium on a school trip going to the major memorials and cemeteries. Including Menin Gate service at 8pm. I can't wait to go back and am trying to persuade a few friends so we can all share the driving etc.
"I am not sure with what weapons the third world war will be fought, but in the fourth world war they will fight with sticks and stones."- Albert Einstein (and he is so right..)
Wonderful event indeed. At time 1, 16.40 I am astonished over the similarity to the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus(1594-1632) written psalm Our God (Förfäras ej du lilla hop), but of course they lent melodies and words across Europe. Here =Our God, Our Help in Ages Past" is a hymn by Isaac Watts in 1708 that paraphrases the 90th Psalm of the Book of Psalms. It originally consisted of nine stanzas; however, in present usage the fourth, sixth, and eighth stanzas are commonly omitted to leave a total of six (Methodist books also include the original sixth stanza to leave a total of seven). In 1738, John Wesley in his hymnal, Psalms and Hymns, changed the first line of the text from "Our God" to "O God." Both Watts' wording and Wesley's rewording remain in current use.--The hymn is often sung as part of the remembrance day service in Canada and festive occasions in England (Wikipedia)
Be still, my soul, The Lord is on thy side Bear patiently, the cross of grief or pain Leave to thy God, to order and provide In every change, He faithful will remain Be still, my soul, thy best thy heavenly friend Through thorny ways, leads to a joyful end Be still, my soul, thy God doth undertake To guide the future as He has the past Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake All now mysterious shall be bright at last Be still, my soul, the waves and wind still know His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below In You I rest, in You I found my hope In You I trust, You never let me go I place my life within Your hands alone Be still, my soul Be still, my soul, the hour is hastening on When we shall be forever with the Lord When disappointment, grief and fear are gone Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored Be still, my soul, when change and tears are past All safe and blessed, we shall meet at last In You I rest, in You I found my hope In You I trust, You never let me go I place my life within Your hands alone Be still, my soul In You I rest, in You I found my hope In You I trust, You never let me go I place my life within Your hands alone Be still, my soul Be still, my soul Be still, my soul
The Londoner Chill... I was just scrolling through TH-cam and I found a video of his performance by itself, so I went looking for the original video. So Tom Odell actually is the reason why I was watching the video. Also, I’m Italian, so I don’t get why I would have to be so patriotic for a different country than mine. Music can be interpreted in different ways, respect the other people’s opinion as well. I’m free to listen to music and comment on a TH-cam video (not being disrespectful in any way, contrarily to what you say)... free will right? Your way of thinking isn’t and should never be everyone’s. And with this I’m out. Your comment is so useless it doesn’t deserve any further attention.

Be still, my soul, The Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently, the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God, to order and provide
In every change, He faithful will remain
Be still, my soul, thy best thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways, leads to a joyful end
Be still, my soul, thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past
Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake
All now mysterious shall be bright at last
Be still, my soul, the waves and wind still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below
In You I rest, in You I found my hope
In You I trust, You never let me go
I place my life within Your hands alone
Be still, my soul
Be still, my soul, the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored
Be still, my soul, when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed, we shall meet at last
In You I rest, in You I found my hope
In You I trust, You never let me go
I place my life within Your hands alone
Be still, my soul
In You I rest, in You I found my hope
In You I trust, You never let me go
I place my life within Your hands alone
Be still, my soul
Be still, my soul
Be still, my soul
