I am using the MWE 450 variant of this unit. The problem is that, it trips my circuit breaker during turn on. So, I had to add an additional 5 Ohm NTC Thermistor in series with the PSU, and the problem was solved. 450 variant does not have the relay - so I am restricted to use a low value NTC, which is always ON. Why don't they use a higher value NTC, if it has the bypass relay! I also had this issue, with the MSI MPG A750GF - 80 Plus Gold PSU.
I bought Cooler Master MWE 750 Bronze (probably v1) , has some coilwhine in certain scenarios, 12V rail on my pc (overclocked 9700K + 2060 Overclocked) drops only 1.4% to 11.872 V I wouldn't go overkill on it, but it gets the job done for 95 euros, especially when there are not many available PSU's on the market these days. I don't recommend Sharkoon and Gigabyte, had both of them, gold 80+, cables melted.
Coil whine depends on your hardware. It can be severe with some setups and lower in others. Other parts of your system can also do coil whine and make you believe that it is the PSU, with the VGA being one of them. Some PSU-VGA combos can also have increased coil whine.

What would be a good substitute for the MWE v2 in the same price range? The Corsair CX? Where did you get the ripple measurements from? I looked up some reviews and the ripple looked good.
Hello, Aris. I think in this review you have first version of mwe bronze (non v2 bronze version). You can ask me why i said this? First, main cap is elite. I saw pictures of another psu's with mpe-xxxx-acaab label and they have capxcon as main cap. But maybe CM just replace elite to capxcon. Second at time 4:48 you can see red color element with sealant (i dont know how it named), this is third element from top to bottom from main cap side (first element is main cap, second ..., and our red target with sealant). On pictures of another psu's this is gray element with cuboid shape. Maybe exist and others differences but i can't cleary said what those elements are. Sorry for my bad english.
Finding electronic parts is super difficult during this period, so many brands change the parts they used with whatever they can find. This is not good, I know, but it is the only option to keep the production going.
Great video I think I'll get this one in my first PC build. I'll pair it with a Ryzen 5 3600 and the best graphics card I could find in the next month.
I'm Brazilian and I follow some of your videos, I didn't understand the language of the video very much but I could see your review, I bought it to hold an rtx 3060 and an i5 10400, am I safe?
Hi Aris, I hope you are reading this. Did you do any protection testing on this unit? You said briefly that you "couldn't get any reading" I mean I am confused, what does that mean? Do you mean that it is just that the OCP is too high, but why weren't you able to "read" it? Or do you mean that the protection is completely malfunctioning and you weren't able to test anything? Please clarify! I want to recommend this PSU to others but I need to get that out of the way first...
Protection Features: All basic protection features are present, including OTP. No MOV. It has an NTC thermistor and a bypass relay. OCP needs tuning. OCP triggering points were high in my sample. This is the case in most PSUs I have seen so far.
@@HardwareBustersGR So I assume every protection feature that you usually test (OCP, OPP, OTP, and SCP) was tested on this PSU and there were no problem?
@@HardwareBustersGR Thank you! so it means that its quiter compared to the unit that you have right? is the 550w and 650w has the same components? unlike the corsair CV series, where 550watts is group reg and 650watts is dc to dc

Hi! I have the differences in the video description as well. Differences with V2 - Full Range: MPE-6501-ACAAW. This seems to be the version sold outside of Europe. The main difference I could spot was the different fan speed profiles. The non-EU version also has a different cable configuration with short ATX and EPS and only a single EPS, while the EU version has two EPS connectors. So if you want 2x EPS go with the EU version.

Why so huge voltage drops on 3.3v mobo rail and on gpu vrm voltage 11.641v with low 150-160 watts load? In cybenetics test xpg pylon 650 dont have huge drop on 3.3v rail. I investigated in forums and here the PSU are very bad the "best" opción here are:
Redragon 500w
Gigabyte p450b
Aereocool (Cyclon-KCAS)
Corsair Cv450 and Vs450
Coolermaster mwe 550w bronze v2 (more expensive than other options)
And very last option it's a used corsair cx450
Wich it's the best in your opinion, it's worth to spend more on the coolermaster mwe v2 or i just buy one of the other options?
I would go with the Coolermaster mwe 550w bronze v2 as the first option. Second one either the CV450 or VS450. Third, the CX450 IF it is in good operating condition.
@@HardwareBustersGR if the cx450 were new it would be a better option than the coolermaster mwe v2?
I was thinking to buy this PSU in order to use it on a 3700x and a 3060ti setup. It is ok? Thanks
Yes it will be ok. They must have improved OCP in the new production units. The one I tested was more than a year old.
@@HardwareBustersGR what about the coil whine problem? Some people said in the Linustechtips psu tierlist that the mwe v2 model will have this issue. What do you say? thank you
@@lucasenfoco Yes I point this out in the cons. My sample has a bit of coil whine.
@@HardwareBustersGR I take the opportunity to ask you a question: What do you think about the gamemax vp series? They look competitive in the price range. I'll get the 700w MWE V2, a 650w thermaltake bx1 or and vp-700/800 from GM.
They are the 3 possibilities on my budget.
(My build: 3700x + 3060ti or 3070. I don't have the vga yet).
Have a nice day and thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it.
@@lucasenfoco I haven't tested this Gamemax unit yet so I cannot have an opinion. The Thermaltake BX1 I think I have one for review. From these units only the 700 MWE V2 I have tested, unfortunately.
Deepcool pm650d vs cooler master mwe 650 v2 230v vs Asus tuf 550b
I am highly confused.. Please suggest me best psu in term of Quality, reliability and performance
I would say the TUF550b if you don't need 650W, else get the Cooler Master (if you DO need 650W).
@@HardwareBustersGR my whole system require around 400w only...
Asus tuf 550b is good in term of Quality and for longer run comparing with other 2 psu?
And is this compatible with 12gen and b660 mobo
Thanks for your quick reply
What would be a good substitute for the MWE v2 in the same price range? The Corsair CX? Where did you get the ripple measurements from? I looked up some reviews and the ripple looked good.
CX is very good, yes. I conduct my own measurements in everything.
Thx for the review ,would that work on a ryzen 5 3400g and rx 580 or gtx 1650 super .
Yes it will
@@HardwareBustersGR thx for the reply🖤
This is not good, I know, but it is the only option to keep the production going.
ok
Great video I think I'll get this one in my first PC build. I'll pair it with a Ryzen 5 3600 and the best graphics card I could find in the next month.
What do you have to say for psu is it good ??
how about the 550w bronze v2 ? is it still using Elite caps? i'm ok with caps outside of japan like Elite, Samxon or Teapo. They are pretty good
Elite caps are good
I'm Brazilian and I follow some of your videos, I didn't understand the language of the video very much but I could see your review, I bought it to hold an rtx 3060 and an i5 10400, am I safe?
Hi! Yes, you won't have a problem.
@@HardwareBustersGR thank you!
so have coolermaster seen ur video and made improvements?
They do watch my videos and read my reports, yes.
Can you pleaaase tell me if this one is good enough for a rtx3080ti?
I wouldn't get a 650W PSU for a 3080Ti. I would go with a good 850W one, e.g. Corsair RM850x.
@@unrefillable As I write above, only OCP needs tuning.
@@HardwareBustersGR OK, gotcha
Do you think the 750 version of this is a good psu to pair with a 3070?
What are other good budget alternatives?
It is a good platform yes, and 750W are enough for a 3070-potent CPU combo.
Okay thanks also is the graphics card that i mentioned compatible with this motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H)
Amazing review! Just wondering if it would work with a Ryzen 7 3600x and a 3060ti? Saw that you're still responding so I thought I'd give it a shot
Yes it will be ok, 3600x isn't a power hog :)
Any chance of looking at the current post-2020 revision? It seems to address a lot of the low-load ripple problems you found with this one.
Yes I will do this at some point.
I bought this power supply today.how do i know i have the current post 2020 revision? Pls reply pls
Hello what is lambda standard? I saw in MWE 550watts Bronze V2 that it has a -A Lambda rating instead of S+
It is its noise rating, provided by Cybenetics. Check here: www.cybenetics.com/index.php?option=lambda-(psus)
@@HardwareBustersGR Thank you! so it means that its quiter compared to the unit that you have right? is the 550w and 650w has the same components? unlike the corsair CV series, where 550watts is group reg and 650watts is dc to dc

very good review !! what version is better ? ACAAB OR ACAAW
I don't remember now the differences between these versions. The report for this PSU and its serial number are listed on Cybenetics.
Please help: this vs XPG paylon 650B? both available on same price
CM I could say, more modern platform.
Im looking for a midrange psu. Corsair CV650 or this psu is better?
I would say the cooler master
Greetings!!
I got the option to choose between the eu and the non eu version.Should i go with the non eu version?i Bulkier caps or more rugged structure maybe becouse the wider range of voltage and amp?
@@HardwareBustersGR Thank You very much! That was a super fast reply!

are you recommending this and how is that psu's sound
It is a decent platform. The PSU is noisy. If you want something silent you must go to a higher efficiency unit
its 75 bucks here in Philippines and 66bucks for 550w

Actually only cx650 F available.
Hello sir,I already have this psu with 6600 xt and ryzen 5800 x, I would love to upgrade my gpu to 6800 xt, should I also get a new psu?
sir which one is better msi a650 bronze or this psu cooler master ?
I don't remember the MSI PSU, but the Cooler Master MWE 650 uses a modern platform and it is quite good.
Hello, Aris. I have a problem with new psu xpg pylon 650w:
octt power test 5 min
mobo 12v rail - 11.945v
mobo 3.3v rail - 3.265v ??? strange
mobo 5v rail - 5.010v
mobo 3VSB - 5.5v ??? strange
gpu vrm voltage in 11.641v
gpu vrm power out 72.656w
gpu chip power 61.89w
cpu power 94w
No throttling detected, full clock cpu and gpu.
So total power about 150w-160w and with 160w loads 3.3v rail drops from 3.285v(zero load) to 3.265v and gpu vrm voltage in drops from 11.92v(zero load) to 11.641v.
Why so huge voltage drops on 3.3v mobo rail and on gpu vrm voltage 11.641v with low 150-160 watts load?
In cybenetics test xpg pylon 650 dont have huge drop on 3.3v rail. But for my psu, if suggest that for every 150w loads 3.3v rail drops on 0.02 v then we got
3.285v 0w
Don’t take into account the main board volt sensors. They are inaccurate
@@HardwareBustersGR but what about asus anti surge message. With old psu i dont have this message.
@@koreanfanofficial4667 I don't have a clue how this works, so I cannot be sure whether is the PSU's fault. That said, the Pylon 650 is a good PSU so you don't need to worry. And I am not sure if this Asus surge protection does anything of importance anyway. Your PSU already has a MOV inside, which protects against surges.

750W Bronze gets highly stressed with the 3080. You should change PSU and get a more efficient one, 750W or even better 850W.
@@HardwareBustersGR thanks for the reply,, one more question please, do you think i really need to replace the psu? if for the fan noise only i can tolerate it coz the aircon is always on and it's louder than the pc anyways. other than the fan it really works fine, i even overclocked the gpub to test it and it was drawing like 380w just fine
