      if you get the chance try and get the Tom Evans microgroove x £600 but second-hand would be a lot cheaper nothing is better under £1,000 then that.
      another candidate second-hand should be good the dynavector Mk 4. £1000 new and is a current gain phono stage not voltage gain. that's only applicable really if you got MC at very low voltages, would benefit more or less.

    I’ve been running my end-game phono/pre-amplifier for many years and that is a Vacuum state FVP-5 preamplifier which has what I consider to be one of the finest Phono stages built into the preamplifier. I have a resister installed on the inputs and I am using a Audio Technical step up transformer as my heavily modified Nakamichi MC1000 reference pickup’s output voltage is only 0.2 mV with an impedance of 3.5 Ohms. its also dead quite and makes sweet music on my modified Goldring Lenco with Syrinx PU3 Arm. The Phono stage can be purchased separately from “Custom Analogue Audio” in Australia for just AUD $1550 it’s the JLTi phono preamplifier Mark 5B an absolute bargain. See the review in the Stereophile 2015 review and recommendations. Thoroughly enjoy your videos, keep them coming.

    If I were in the market for a phone preamp I would love to hear the Audia. I must admit that I am more than satisfied with my PASS XP-15 phono preamp and XP-22 line stage pre. The only issue that I have with this combination is that my prior tube preamp the AudibleI Illusions Modulus 3B with the John Curl phono board had just the slightest amount of air around the instruments that the PASS does not.

      try and keep away from tube phono stage's especially in the first gain stage, just stick to the preamplifier being tube and solid-state for the phono stage.

    I have a D. Klimo LAR Gold Plus phono stage, although not original. I bought a kit of it from AliExpress and after lots of research and time, put the unit successfully together. I wouldn't dare run it on an MC cart as it would most likely end up being too noisy, but the MM cart I have is only slightly audible from close up on my Avantgarde Acoustic Duo Mezzo XD speakers (107db sensitivity). So I consider this a successful project. Very much enjoy the sound.

    Hey Guido, congrats, great piece of equipment. Lehamnn Black Cube is one of the best products on the market for price to perfomance. I'm taking a look at the Gold Note PH 10 with additional external PSU and an Auditurium 23 step up transformer: I'm enjopying a lot the sound from the old and trusty Denon DL 103 and I believe the upgrade from Lehmann to Gold Note+AU23 will be a big, important step up.

    WOW!!! I know you do not usually recommend something this expensive, but I can clearly tell you frigg'n *LOVE* this l'l puppy! 😁 And, coming from YOU particularly, that is very good to know, thank you sir! By any chance have you been able to listen to the IFI Phono 2...? I happened upon some stellar reviews, similar in tone to yours here, and I was able to find one new although they've been discontinued. I was able to get one for about $450. The newer model, the IFI Phono 3 is $1000! BUT... along with many other reviewers, I have been *VERY* impressed with this little phono amp. It has like a million micro switches for both MM and MC which gives you a lot of choices, AND it is Class 'A'! The sound on my system is quite impressive, very dynamic (which you mentioned about this one) and the soundstage and separation is excellent! I wish I could post a link to my system so you could get an idea how it is set up, but usually any posts with links are automatically removed. Just briefly, my system is comprised of two tall completely open baffle dipole line arrays with 13 drivers a side, each channel powered by a separate amp (dual-mono) A third amp, a Crown 2502 400/side drives the two 15" dipole woofers. The system is obviously designed with a very large and spacious soundstage in mind. But, this little baby you are talking about sure does sound tempting! I would LOVE to hear it! 👍

  • @unityoc
    @unityoc ปีที่แล้ว +1

    7:15 why do so many manufacturers hide load settings on the back of the unit, behind a door and selectable via jumper? Is there some sort of audio quality reason for that? It's awkward as hell. I'm not for one second suggesting my Pro-ject Phono Box S3 B plays in the same league as the Audia, but at least it has loading and gain selectable on the fly on the front of the unit with a little light indicating what is currently set.

    • @anadialog
      @anadialog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it is extremely expensive to make a selectable knob in the front. The whole project is redesigned to allow that do if you are using jumpers and plastic switches you aren't going to want them in full sight....I would for convenience! ;-)

      It's all relative. I used to have all balanced Pass Labs...after diwcovering my single ended mastersound preamp (not phono) I sold the whole thing immediately

    It would be the end for me if a had a wife and she find’s out how much i pay for it. i could go to a south American on a sex trip of my life for this phono preamp price 😂
