Aside from a tendency to self-aggrandizement, she is nothing nothing like the king. Their motivations are different. Her character flaw is deep insecurity. She shows off what she can do in an effort to prove her self worth, which she is made uncertain of because of her nature, bad experiences , and upbringing. This character vice of hers is used for comedy... all the characters have something to laugh at/with. BUT she never portrayed as anything less than a dedicated, loyal, loving wife. She's also a loving and involved mother. Your bullshit theory was tested when she thought she was being hit on by a very wealthy attractive man who she was a big fan of in Minsignor Martinez. She had not even a moment of struggle in denying what she thought were advances... and was also willing to leave what would have been a very cushy ego-stroking job as his childrens' teacher. Peggy is a generally good person imo, with a flaw i am sympathetic to. We all have egos and hers is simply particularly fragile and hurt... always trying to prove itself to itself and others. It isnt Real Pride. Her flaw is glaring though because its the kind of flaw that shouts at you intently and makes itself known. ------ 2. The role playing king in this episode on the other hand has a simple villian-like characterization. The joke is that he's taken his role/the act too seriously and has actually become corrupt and drunk by his power. His ego is inflated because he has been given control over other people. He is genuinely self-centered and impotent regarding self-control and the ability to restrain his dark side. Two very different characters... thats why i always disliked the peggy haters. She a very well written representation of exaggerated insecurity.
No matter how many times I've watch this episode, I always lose when Phillip breaks his character and says, "aw crap! I'm gonna lose my fair! I don't want to go back to selling real estate!" I just love how Alan Rickman goes from an English accent to an American accent 😂

I think it's an Arabic thing as well. I learned that from Batman: The Animated Series. He had to solve a riddle in a maze and the question was "which way to the eating place"? The correct answer was go to to the right because the left hand is used to clean one's self.
This might be a somewhat minor nitpick, but I always thought the "Renaissance Faire" looked aesthetically kind of weird in this episode. Despite supposedly being a representation of "1590," a lot of the trappings of the fair itself were more superficially similar to the Middle Ages than the Renaissance/Early Modern period, particularly as it related to England.
Propane is measured in both weight and volume, catapults were used alongside canons, commoners could and did wear purple just not dark or ROYAL purple.
A stone is not the same as a gallon, catapults by 1590 were rather rare, and purple pretty expensive so few commoners could afford it, plus they didn't have as wide of a spectrum of tints, so at the time purple was pretty much purple.

Purple due to its scarcity had a wide range of tints depending on the amount of dye used with royal purple being the darkest needing the highest concentration. The inaccuracies could be attributed to either King Philip or to just the writers themselves since most of what was in the episode has been how some of us were taught about medieval times, with kings, queens, jesters, wizards, knights, princesses, and dragons. Similar to the Spongebob episode where Spongebob and Patrick are sent to medieval times

Truth be told there is an episode, that I think counts as showing that Peggy can have her moments of being a good person, it's just the episode where she substituted at the high school, where more like by default was a decent teacher, to the star quarterback(also the essay that he wrote, for Hank yes he hated it because it made propane sound bad, whereas with Buck he just hated it, because it was terribly written)

The inaccuracies could be attributed to either King Philip or to just the writers themselves since most of what was in the episode has been how some of us were taught about medieval times, with kings, queens, jesters, wizards, knights, princesses, and dragons. Similar to the Spongebob episode where Spongebob and Patrick are sent to medieval times

Truth be told there is an episode, that I think counts as showing that Peggy can have her moments of being a good person, it's just the episode where she substituted at the high school, where more like by default was a decent teacher, to the star quarterback(also the essay that he wrote, for Hank yes he hated it because it made propane sound bad, whereas with Buck he just hated it, because it was terribly written)
