How about finding a RH hitter who can play 1st base and 3rd base, and not hit .130 like Bobby Dalbec? When Casas comes back he wont be able to play every day, and Devers obviously needs some rest.
To play devils advocate on this… Williams is a veteran who knows what it takes to pitch in the MLB where Criswell and Winc are both young and inexperienced and Fitts is a rookie and a total wild card. A rental for very little prospect capital doesn’t hurt the Sox at all.
Again would I rather see them do something like that? Of course who wouldn’t but based on everything we have heard from the front office surrounding the deadline which one is more likely?
Nats fan here, Davey figured out how to use Trevor Williams effectly. He only uses him 2 times thru the order. Once that happens he will take him out if its 5innings or not. He is really keeping the ball down. The sweeper was from tinkering with Josiah Gray's slider grip. Sox could get him easily for a low level A prospect. Especially a lottery projectable(meaning a guy whp throws hard but may have control issues) bullpen arm. We are willing to trade, playoffs dont matter to us. 2025 is the year we are targeting
I would be surprised if they get a starting pitcher who doesn't have control past this season. Corbin, you again make only reasonable statements and great points. I would be thrilled with a deal like this, but I just don't know if Breslow will acquire talent just for this summer/fall.
Sometimes I wonder if the sox see the same opportunities that you do. He is a nice piece. However remember Washington is well aware of the fact that he has turned a corner as well. It has possibilities. Judging from the video he looks like he has some good stuff to me. Very nice under the radar view!!! I see things like this as smart moves because your not giving up your crown jewels to improve the team. Nice call Corbin!!!! Joe
Yeah that’s the big thing. They know he’s valuable, they also know that there is a real shot of them making the postseason even if they finish a couple of games under .500
oh, i love Trevor Williams, his advanced statistics are borderline elite and that's right down Bailey's lane. bailey could probably even increase Trevor's velocity a few ticks as he's been able to do that throughout the season. I Like This a lot!
Depends on how much he makes and how long they have to pay him. Ownership isn't going to pay a 34 year old big money or years, although that philosophy seems to change with the wind for them.
Anderson looks good on paper but his underlying metrics are terrible looks like he is due for some serious regression and Fenway park would really speed that up in my opinion
Idea for a future video. Addressing trade rumors of teams wanting to land Red Sox players. I just heard the Dodgers are interested in David Hamilton. I do not see that happening because Story is out for the season and Mayer is still developing… but if the Dodgers were willing to over pay what would a trade look like?
Williams sounds like a good idea they definitely need another starting pitcher these bullpen games are a bad idea. Hopefully Breslow will do something that helps the team!
I think trade values is ok to figure out baseline for a trade but the thing they often get wrong are pitchers and particularly pitchers on expiring deals. There’s always a contender looking for more pitching at the deadline and willing to pay 200 cents on the dollar or more if they think that’s a playoff starter for them. Williams is a solid bet as a rental I would absolutely love it if they could get him. If Washington doesn’t want to sell Erick Fedde is a nice name as well. He can def pitch in this rotation, he added a sweeper and his numbers have been incredible. He’s got another year on his deal which would be the replacement for Pivetta if they decided to go that route
My hesitation on this one is that Williams has rarely pitched a lot of innings. Last year he pitched 144.1, and that was by far the most he had pitched in 5 years. Seems like a lot to ask him to throw a lot of innings to make up for other pitchers who may not be able to..
A lefty starter like has been mentioned would be good. Dalbec has great defensive skills but he's too much of a detriment to the line-up so a right handed bat and versatile in the field would help. Have a great day Corbin!! "Let's Go Red Sox "!!!
Williams sounds good, and I'm in... the only question is how much the Sox should give up if the trading-deadline, feedingt frenzy takes off... as it probably will. Sox won't trade top prospects, but they may have to overpay with quantity of the 3rd tier.... guys like C. Coffey and then some.
Yeah but I think that’s is going to happen at some point anyways wether that be now or the offseason, plus with the draft coming up it may be the right time to over pay a bit
Whether they play at the top end or end of rotation, they need another starter. Crawford, Pivetta are no where near what they were in April. Bello simply has not taken the steps forward we were expecting to see. Criswell has done a good job, but has yet to have a quality start… and they are thin… perhaps Winckowski if someone gets injured. I would look at Tyler Anderson on the Angels. Not sure what we would have to give up to get him.
Hey Corbin my favorite national League team is the Mets my favorite American League team is the Red Sox I followed this guy when he was with the Mets and he is awful he's one of these guys that is really good on a contract year and then stinks it up after I wouldn't touch this guy!
Obviously your channel is great for MLB. Hope it is sorted soon but this show is still easily my go to for Sox news without the MLB highlights. I agree that Devers could use more rest but Raffy is very durable. And, knock on wood, Raffy only has 5 errors so far! When Casas gets back Dalbec can help with both corners in spite of that average. I would rather add depth to the rotation. Don't forget guys, this staff outside of Pivetta has not pitched a lot of innings in a season. I would hope Criswell and Winkowski would help in that respect. And if they get starting pitching in a trade I would rather they grab a solid 4-5 guy who has durability and is at least average as a pitcher. The other thing, as far as pitching, is Bello has to get better. If Bello gets better and Houck maintains then this team can kick ass as it is against anybody.
How about trading for a veteran left handed ace that doesn't have any injury history (or at least a legit number two starter if we can believe Houck's acelike status is sustainable over the long haul). It would take opening up the safe and spending some cash though, so it's unlikely. The problem they have is there's a lot of big dead money either out for the year or underperforming. See Story, Giolito, Yoshi, who are on the books this year for close to 50 million and are all likely untradable at this point. Kenley is doing his job, although he can be scary. 16 mil (less at this point, but they can't deal him away without paying part of his remaining contract this year. Might as well keep him around at this point until if or when Liam Hendricks shows he's ready and can actually pitch at a high level again after surgery. If you actually count Kenly's and Vhris Martin's salaries plus even Hendrick's salary, that's approximately 85 mil on the books this year that Henry would love to dump on someone and that's not even counting the half of Sale's salary he is paying out in order to dump him. That's a lot of dead money and Henry won't go over where he wants payroll to be at until one or more of them is traded, which other than Kenley and/or Martin is highly unlikely. If we have Meyer, Grissom, Yorke, Hamilton, where does that leave Story in 2025 if he actually stays healthy, it seems like he's blocking their progress unless he can be traded, which is extremely unlikely. Pray Yoshi hits at a high level (he sure can't play defense) and Gio and Story contributs anything in 25, so they can possibly move them. Unless they change their future salary structure, say bye bye to O'Neil, Pivetta, Martin and probably Kenley by the trade deadline and I don't see anyone but maybe O'Neil bringing anything of value. Maybe a middle type prospect for Pivetta. The few guys they've chosen to pay more have gotten hurt or aren't earning their money. It's the guys making next to nothing that are performing. Wait till Doran and Wong hit arbitration, if they want too much, they'll be gone too, which will be bad, but a reality, especially with Teel and Anthony in the pipeline for next year.
I think the Red Sox do NOR want a rental at all. I think they would rather go after a Cal Quantrill who has multiple years control. I think they also need to lock up Nick Privetta for a long term deal. Maybe 3 years. Otherwise, I see them trading him because he will have value. Overall I would not be against this trade. It is giving up nothing but I would think maybe Niko Kavadas or even better dump Bobby Dalbec and someone else. Dalbec cannot hit but he can play all over and is good defensively. The Red Sox need to move some of their AAA prospects to make room for all the AA studs who are ready to come up.
Eh I think anyone that would make a legit impact long term is gonna be worth more in the market than the Sox are willing to give up. I could absolutely see them going rental and then reassessing the market in the offseason
@@redseatradio I think it’s time to make that move…they have the trade capital …with Wilyer Duran and Cedanne the future outfield you can move one of the top 3 Roman Anthony to package with other prospects to get Garrett from the white sox

Yeah absolutely something the Sox should look into unless they are fully comfortable letting that be Romy
Dalbec isn’t on the 26-man roster currently. Romy Gonzalez is on the roster and he can field both of those positions and put together good at-bats.
Blaze Jordan man.
Or Chase Meidroth
Love Bobby.. time to send dfa him..triple a woo is his home
I would suggest looking internally first. My list would include Fitts, Winchowski or Criswell.
Criswell and Winck would make 5 Fitts isn’t ready yet
To play devils advocate on this… Williams is a veteran who knows what it takes to pitch in the MLB where Criswell and Winc are both young and inexperienced and Fitts is a rookie and a total wild card. A rental for very little prospect capital doesn’t hurt the Sox at all.
We need a lefty starting pitcher, sir. If u going to make a trade . Go all in .
With you 100%.
Again would I rather see them do something like that? Of course who wouldn’t but based on everything we have heard from the front office surrounding the deadline which one is more likely?
Absolutely, may I suggest the guy that started against the Sox today.. Nick Lodolo, his stats look good. And he is a young lefty.
I wouldn’t be mad at getting him adding another reliable arm in the bullpen would be very useful
Great video Corbin! Trevor Williams is just the type of under radar trade the Sox should be looking to make. 👍
Agreed!
The Nationals are 1/2 game out of wild card race with 2 teams in front of them that have big injury problems so why would they sell ?
