Why on earth would they trade Casas when his value is down? As for Herrera, I think we need a defense-first catcher with the pitching staff, and philosophy, shaping up the way they are. Finally, does anyone else besides me doubt Devers’s ability to play an adequate first base?
@@redseatradioI’m sorry but aren’t the cards moving Contreras to 1st? Why would they trade for a 1st basemen and then move there new starting Catcher in Herrera? Ik Casas is good but idk if it makes sense to me for the cards. Honestly fuck all this trade bs tho sign bregman!!
@@DavidCrommett this is not happening it’s speculation just something to talk about before pitchers and catchers are going to report just to take some time up
I think the last thing we should be doing is trading a guy who has potential to consistently hit 30+ home runs. He just hasn’t been healthy, and that’s not really the issue, he’s been hurt one year of his two year big league career, and he had a stellar rookie season. I think the Sox need to grow up and spend on Scott and Bregman. Why not, they’re the third most valuable teams in baseball. It. Is. Time. To. Spend.
Arenado can do the same things Bregman can.....IDK if I want Bregman at the asking price, plus he blocks Grissom, Mayer and possibly Campbell at 2B....not Ideal. Arenado wouldn't block anyone and the guy flat out picks it at 3B and has said he'd move to 1B to play here....
Why, why, why...WHY TF do people want to trade Tristan Casas, a young, improving, burgeoning superstar? This kid is on the verge of being a perennial 35 HR/125 RBI hitter, and a solid defensive first baseman. This is why this frustrates the crap out of me.
too took long to return from injury last year. intent on staying in the minors so he could “get his timing down” while the team floundered down the stretch. Seemed to irk cora. for some reason, this channel treats Casas like a sacred cow possibly because of his age and upside. now is when u move a player like Casas. especially if the organization isn’t sold on him being a consistent asset for them in the long term.
The right package, I'd be fine with this trade. Casas for a top end catcher is a solid trade in itself....maybe this is WHY Teel was traded.....Love Arenado and he'd be a bonus for our defense and said he'd play first base if needed....throw in a top closer....I'd make this trade 💯💯
@@redseatradio “all time low” is kind of hyperbolic. his value hasn’t peaked out but very rarely does a player get traded at his peak value in any sport. it depends on the framework of the deal like you said but he isn’t an untouchable player. the biggest issue with moving him is the lack of options at 1B which everyone understands. if they intend to dump him for nothing in his cost controlled years then i will call the org out. i just push back on the sacred cow-ism.

Maybe, but does fixing 3 things on this club and the combined potential with these guys equate or eclipse to what Casas can do? Better defense, lower Ks, and a bullpen ace
@@redseatradiohard to deny; but I do not think the Sox want another arm entering free agency at the end of the year...we get a bullpen ace for a season and potentially lose Tristan forever...not to mention the steam quickly leaving Arenado's pot...best to get Rayy's butbin shape and drill him at 3rd.
They have. They're keeping Casas. All the talk about trading Casas is coming from the media and from fans. Although in fact, they haven't even shopped him around at all.
The only reason to trade Casas is if hes a burden with his weird antics. If the players don’t like him ship him off as long as you get something else. I think he ends up as solid player but not someone we regret losing like Mookie.
I posted a few videos back, that a Casas trade to the Cardinals would involve us getting a young catcher.....I love Casas , but I have a feeling he's still on the trade block and this type of deal would benefit the Red Sox .....top catcher, stud 3B and a closer? Heck ya
The one thing I don't have a good handle on is how open Casas is to signing a reasonable long-term contract. Rafaela and Bello struck deals, allegedly Casas got an offer but didn't. So if he has a grand idea of his worth, it might not happen now or down the road. In that case I think you have to plan to trade him at some point, maybe not now but maybe with a couple of years of control left.
Cant even begin to think what the Red Sox will do. To many what ifs this off season. Like you said just pay Bregman and Scott teams set . We just need patience something will eventually shake out.
Trade Marcelo Meyer , I do Not want Casas traded! I'm tired of waiting on Meyer and Casas has proven he crushes baseballs. Duran, Devers Casas, Anthony, Campbell, Rafaela, is Redsox near future , it's a whole lot weaker without either Devers or Casas . Do not trade Casas!!
I feel like part of the reason he keeps getting brought up is he is a young, talented player that is MLB ready. If they go the trade route, he bring the most value trade wise, it seems. It seems clear Duran is not getting traded, which seems like Casas is next
Ever notice that Casas is a bit ‘different?’ He’s like an infielder version of Spaceman Bill Lee. I think he’s great and has some real potential, but I wonder if he rubs some of ownership/brass the wrong way.
Casas could easily if healthy hit .320 for average and 30+ homers for the next 7 years. It’ll be tough to say goodbye, but this is a crazy good return. I’d wonder if they’d be interested in Cooper Criswell. I think with Fitts and Preister I wonder if he has a role going forward.
For me, Casas is off the table. I don't think we have even scratched the surface of how good this guy is. I think the 2024 season was going to be a huge breakout season for him and obviously injury prevented that from happening. But Im just not wanting to see him traded at all.
That definitely would be a good trade. I probably would still refuse to trade Casas but I see where this deal would benefit both clubs. Good players come back on both sides. Good video Corbin. If you are giving up Casas in this deal though who has lots of team control left you want to make sure that Helsley signs a long term deal. Rentals do not turn me on. I would pay to obtain players though rather than do this trade. I don't want Tristan going anywhere.

Have zero faith in the Henry paying to extend these guys. We aren't winning anything this yr. If the Sox are serious to contend for a WS title next yr. They will sign Vlad Jr. and Helsley
@redseatradio yes but if we are being honest those signings where in response to major push back from fans for not signing and instead trading a top 3 player in the league in Betts and instead of paying him we traded him for a bag of baseballs and a case of big league chew and letting Xander go for nothing. So in the grand scheme of things that's the least they could do given how much damage they did to a roster that at that point was primed to defend and contend post 2018.
I'm againsnt trading younger power bats and arms (Dombrowski Syndrome) but this is by far the most intriguing trade for Casas whom I would love to see hitting 30+ bombs for the next 10 years in Boston. It's a trade that helps them on so many levels and I would rather hold onto Cuttter as Josh is much more replaceable. If they could extend Helmsly then I could live with it but I'm not sure I could pull the trigger LOL
If healsley were to sign a 1-2 year extension, I would be ok with it, but I’m not a big Arenado or Bergman fan. I’d rather Vladdy G as a trade target and be all in on him. Whether it would be Campbell, Mayer or Casas, it would take one of those to get yoshida lumped in as a salary dump, but the Sox do have prospect depth and not enough positions for all the current players under contract and all the highly touted prospects. Vlad is a current all star, 26, bats righty and can still field in the diamond and adds protection, as long as you can get him to agree to a long term deal, 12-$450m with an opt out year 5 would be ideal for me to see.
As a Red Sox fan and huge Tristan Casas fan if the red sox do trade him this is the kind of package I can get behind, another maybe 2 years of decent Nolan Arenado, and Elite closer and a young player a position that the red sox need (not 100% sold on Connor Wong). now are their downsides, sure, but I think the upside of both Helsley and Herrera outweigh that
This proposed trade is a definite "wait it out and see" how it may play out to the full advantage of the Red Sox ... The leverage with this deal is all in Craig Breslow's favor due to the Cardinals being much more motivated in moving Nolan Arenado than the Red Sox wanting or needing to part ways with Triston Casas ...
Let’s just get ready for the season good job reporting Corbin this off season but if nothing has happened yet chances are it won’t happen at all so let’s just wait for something to announce that actually has happened not speculation let’s go to war what we have now because most likely that’s going to be our team heading into spring training
I'd make this trade, then extend Helsley. Of course, the other pieces have to be known, but Casas as the core piece fits with what they are trying to do. Herrera is a year for year offset to Casas so that is the core trade, along with taking Arenado's salary. Now have to offset one year of Helsley and that could be done with Workman who would allow them to trade Matz. Remember, for a championship, we have to beat The Dodgers and their All Star team. Do this deal, sign Bregman for 2B, then grab one more big arm reliever, and let's go!! This sets up a scenario where the core is set for 3 years. Anthony will displace the RF platoon, and I see Campbell as a Ben Zobrist like utility guy, playing well everywhere, then settling in to a position in year 4. This would make Abreu and Grissom eventual high value trade pieces to bring back more young talent. Duran CF Bregman 2B Devers 1B Arenado 3B Anthony RF Campbell LF Yoshida DH Story SS Herrera C Wong, Rafaela, Gonzalez, Abreu/Refsnyder Crochette, Bueler, Houck, Bello, Giolito Helsley, Yates, Chapman, Hendricks, Slaton, Whitlock, Guerrero That would be a really good team. They'd be over the LT limit by $50M but could recover most of that in 2026
Burelson instead of Herrera would be an option as well. He is a 1st Baseman / DH on the Cards - but he can play Corner OF ... and If the Cards got Casas it would block Burelson somewhat. Cuz they would put Casas at First and Contreras at DH ... I was thinking something like Arenado Burelson and Matz for Yoshida and Crawford ... Cardinals having a potential OF of Crawford Scott Walker would be a crazy athletic OF. And they shed 30 mil
I don't know, I kind of think Carlos Narvaez may be better than people expect. It seems expectations are quite low for him, but I see a ceiling of him replacing Wong as the primary catcher. So that would make Herrera useful, but redundant. On the other hand, the Red Sox are very thin on high-level catching depth. But Herrera isn't a guy you acquire for minor league depth. In the end, I'd be a no, though this is definitely a trade proposal worth thinking and talking about.
@@redseatradio I guess I look at it as taking the sure glove and potential bat over the sure bat and potential glove. With catchers, I put helping the pitchers above all other priorities. From the talk, Narvaez may be the best the Sox have had at that since Varitek.
@ I just think Raffy becomes David Ortiz 2.0 at some point. Tristan to Toronto for vlad trade and sign? Too much money probably ..I just want to see Tristan put up 500 plus at bats this year that equates to 35 plus home runs an OPS far north of .825 and 95-105 RBI’s ..then he will be cemented as our 1st baseman
@markmccarthy7887 yeah same I think he’s fully capable of doing it too which is why these rumors drive me nuts. This trade is just making the most of a bad situation
I do not hate the trade you proposed. Crawford is too much. I do not want to trade Casas but I think the Red Sox need to upgrade the Catcher. Also we could have him long term. I am just worried about who would play first. Maybe Wong plays first for the year. I do not want Devers playing first base. This is a slow rumor time and not much happening. So I like these what/if's. I do think at some point Casas will be traded. I believe Scott Boras will try to bring him to free agency. I would rather trade Abreu and Crawford in the deal and keep Casas.
I honestly think they’re done unless Bregman signs. Trading Casas is the dumbest idea ever and who ever thought of it should be let go immediately. The only way I’d do a move is if it involves Yoshida for Arenado. They can have a prospect with Yoshida. I’m curious if they have thought about DFAing Yoshida.
I agree with you if they trade Cases this is the best deal however I'd prefer they keep Cases and wait out bregman. We'll see but I'm still on team keep Cases!
Yoshida (+money) with prospects for Nolan who plays 3B, Devers is DH. Money spent no Bregman. Campbell Grissom and Hamilton handle 2B and back up infield/of. You have balanced lineup and solid reserves. 3 problems solved (3B, DH,2B)
I would do that trade for Arenado, Herrera, and Helsley. I would hate to lose a GG 1st baseman whos 25 and can hit you 30-40 HR a year with a 380+OBP every year, but Helsley is amazing, Arenado although regressing is still a beast and with the green monster he could easily hit 30+ HR again, and Herrera is a promising young catcher to replace losing Teel.
I'm not opposed to trading Casas in a package to STL, but they would have to sign a 1B first. A free agent like perhaps, "Polar Bear" on a short-term contract. Would love reliever Helsley to solidify the bullpen, I'm not sure how I feel about the catcher and INF Herrera. I think Arenado will turn into Mike Lowell at 3B for a couple of more years at Fenway, before he fades away. Blaze Jordan could replace him by that time. Or at least, back up 3B/1B on the bench. All-in-all, they have many young studs to keep this team good for at least, five years. Go Red Sox!
Oh they’re capable of spending money they just won’t because John Henry cares more about making a few extra bucks on his millions than the team’s fanbase. Payroll is projected to be lower this year than last
I would trade Casas in a heartbeat. Yes he does have the potential to be very good, but he also has the same potential to be a perennial injury that missed a lot of time. His trade would allow you to get maximum value back (your trade is amazing and would be welcome, bring in Arenado who is a right handed bat that can do very well. Bring over Arrenado and then sign Bregman, you now have a much more balanced lineup, along with a much improved defense, especially when they finally get Devers off 3B you would have moving parts there all over the place, Give Masa a chance to show some value, trade him and maybe pay some of his contract. Bregman can move to 3rd, Campbell to 2nd and you have an awesome lineup. I really think you are going to see someone who gets hurt a lot, and also I think he is going to want to get paid more than what he should get, think a much younger version of Story, paid too much and always hurt. Just remember the last injury was a torn rib cage due to putting too much torque in his swings, but that is his approach, if he changes the swing he may just lose a lot of his power. Just a thought though.
They clearly wanna go for Vladdy. Vlad wants to come here. The redsox could recreate the big papi and manny scenario with devers and vladdy. They aren’t gonna spend the money since they want Vlad.
I’m not exactly sure why Herrera is the answer, they’ve had strong winning teams with subpar defending catchers. I love Helsley and Sox NEED him but I strongly dislike trading Casas.
I don't want to trade Tristan but this package does make me stop and think. Corbin, when you say Helsley is a FA in 2026 do you mean he's a FA at the end of the 2025 or 2026 season?
Do not trade Triston Casas his best years are ahead of him give the guy a break goodness , Just because he got hurt and missed most of last season doesn't mean you have to trade him , Stop being so cheap and go out and start spending that 700 million dollars you was going to spend on Juan Soto and pay Alex Bregman and bring him to Boston .
Don't love it, don't hate it. I'd be willing to build up the catching pipeline after losing Kyle Teel, and have Raffy play first base for A singular season. To make it work long term, I think they would have to focus on offloading Masa next season and do everything to make sure they lock down Vladdy, even if it is a gross overpay. That would get Raffy to DH and give us an infield to fear. Again, don't love it, but if it leads to saving money to shove towards Vladdy next season, well I can live with that.
the idea of trading Triston Casas really scares me lmao

This sets up a scenario where the core is set for 3 years. Anthony will displace the RF platoon, and I see Campbell as a Ben Zobrist like utility guy, playing well everywhere, then settling in to a position in year 4. This would make Abreu and Grissom eventual high value trade pieces to bring back more young talent.
Duran CF
Bregman 2B
Devers 1B
Arenado 3B
Anthony RF
Campbell LF
Yoshida DH
Story SS
Herrera C
Wong, Rafaela, Gonzalez, Abreu/Refsnyder
Crochette, Bueler, Houck, Bello, Giolito
Helsley, Yates, Chapman, Hendricks, Slaton, Whitlock, Guerrero
That would be a really good team. They'd be over the LT limit by $50M but could recover most of that in 2026
Yeah I just dont know that Helsley does an extension or not
Can we PLEASE leave Triston Casas alone?
Burelson instead of Herrera would be an option as well. He is a 1st Baseman / DH on the Cards - but he can play Corner OF ... and If the Cards got Casas it would block Burelson somewhat. Cuz they would put Casas at First and Contreras at DH ... I was thinking something like Arenado Burelson and Matz for Yoshida and Crawford ... Cardinals having a potential OF of Crawford Scott Walker would be a crazy athletic OF. And they shed 30 mil
Would be nice but they’ve been pretty clear they don’t wanna Yoshida type contract
I would make this trade in a heartbeat and I LOVE Casas. Assuming we extended Helsley immediately
It at least makes you think for sure
I don’t hate the trade but who moves over to first, Devers?? He isn’t the best at 3rd and first is a super important position…… idk
I think that’s totally fair. I just personally would take the more sure bat over the potential bat
@@redseatradio I guess I look at it as taking the sure glove and potential bat over the sure bat and potential glove. With catchers, I put helping the pitchers above all other priorities. From the talk, Narvaez may be the best the Sox have had at that since Varitek.
Ya I just can’t see trading Triston makes no sense to me with construction of the current roster.
Idk I think it depends on how they view raffy at 1st genuinely. Not saying I like that idea I think I’ve made my points on that
@ I just think Raffy becomes David Ortiz 2.0 at some point.
Why not!! Two right batters and a flamethrower?? I could be agree with that move if we sign Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman. 🤷🏾♂️
I don;t think Casas’ agent is boras
I honestly think they’re done unless Bregman signs. Trading Casas is the dumbest idea ever and who ever thought of it should be let go immediately. The only way I’d do a move is if it involves Yoshida for Arenado. They can have a prospect with Yoshida. I’m curious if they have thought about DFAing Yoshida.
Yeah don’t think Yoshida would be involved
@@redseatradioI don’t either. I’m hearing he may play the field this yr. I really hope we get Bregman though.
I agree with you if they trade Cases this is the best deal however I'd prefer they keep Cases and wait out bregman. We'll see but I'm still on team keep Cases!
Yeah i would prefer it for sure
Yoshida (+money) with prospects for Nolan who plays 3B, Devers is DH. Money spent no Bregman. Campbell Grissom and Hamilton handle 2B and back up infield/of. You have balanced lineup and solid reserves.
3 problems solved (3B, DH,2B)
The Cards dont want masa
It's always something... maybe a third gets involved?
I would do that trade for Arenado, Herrera, and Helsley. I would hate to lose a GG 1st baseman whos 25 and can hit you 30-40 HR a year with a 380+OBP every year, but Helsley is amazing, Arenado although regressing is still a beast and with the green monster he could easily hit 30+ HR again, and Herrera is a promising young catcher to replace losing Teel.
Yeah it is a really interesting trade tbh
Who are you describing as a GG first baseman?
Go Red Sox!
Eh it depends on how comfortable they are with Raffy at 1st honestly
@@redseatradio No. He'd be DH. The whole purpose was to remove him defensively. Big Papi can talk him into it.
Oh they’re capable of spending money they just won’t because John Henry cares more about making a few extra bucks on his millions than the team’s fanbase. Payroll is projected to be lower this year than last
Whos playing first if trade casas sir 😅😅.
Ask the Red Sox they are the ones that want to trade him
I would trade Casas in a heartbeat.
There is no reason to get Bregman if you do something like this tbh at that point you are just blocking young talent with aging stars
Unless we are getting ohtani I am opposed to trading Casas
damn you cant say no to hellsely bc we need a damn bullpen/closer. but damn why we tryna trade casas lol
Just sign Bregman already and call it a day
They clearly wanna go for Vladdy. Vlad wants to come here. The redsox could recreate the big papi and manny scenario with devers and vladdy. They aren’t gonna spend the money since they want Vlad.
Nope
I’m not exactly sure why Herrera is the answer, they’ve had strong winning teams with subpar defending catchers. I love Helsley and Sox NEED him but I strongly dislike trading Casas.
I don’t think anyone really likes the trading casas idea but the Sox lol
@ true lol
Only trade Casas for Vlad Jr
Casas will hit 35+ HRs…Keep him
Im biased man. I wouldnt Trade Casas for Julio Rodriguez. Thats just me. I like my guys.
Totally fair
I don't want to trade Tristan but this package does make me stop and think. Corbin, when you say Helsley is a FA in 2026 do you mean he's a FA at the end of the 2025 or 2026 season?
End of 2025!
@redseatradio One year of a closer isn't enough. If they can 'lead pipe cinch' extend him, I'd say no.
Sox should just go get Tanner Scott, leave Devers at 3rd until they can move on from Yoshida.
That would be nice
I love it ❤
Don't love it, don't hate it.
Yeah that would be a pretty major stipulation is you would need to move masa at some point and bring in a more everyday 1st baseman long term
Rafy would be a terrible 1bs
why don’t you like Johanfren Garcia? Before his injury, he looked good.
Nothin, he is just a few years away and we just dont know what that swing and miss looks like as he develops
Noo keep triston 😊
Would love too
Please get off the Casas alleged BS. Not gonna happen! 🤪🤬👹
idk man really feels like they wanna move him
Bad move
absolutely not...
Vladdy
Also he has no value
