Nice rendition. This has to be one of Genesis' highest compositional achievements, along with the whole Selling England by the pound. Genesis is a constitutive part of my life and will always be. Thank you.
Freaking masters of 7/4 rock, Steve Hackett is the best and most productive guitar player ever (100+ albums!). A one man hall of fame, surrounded here by master musicians all of them! Absolute genius.

Sublime drumming. Like a cross between Phil studio with the intricacies and the live with Phil plus and Bill Bruford 1976 type.
There is a natural harmony between the magic of mages and vampires, and Nad puts some of the darker magic back in that Peter pressed into the early years' performances.

I saw this in total awe in Luxembourg in May 2019. Fervently hoping to be able to see it next year or whenever post Covid - guess we’re all going nuts when live concerts are back again!

And it goes right down inside your soul! I saw them last night Oct 5 2019 in Chicago, the fire and liquid was flowing like a river through the Grand Canyon and floating as it should with Genesis performed live.

I met Steve in 93 at the El Mocambo bar in Toronto. he asked if anyone remembers his early shows in Town. I replied with his first show in 1979 at the Okeefe Center. He called me a oldie.

Just saw them NYC last week. Gary was great but Craig really brought a new sound to the rhythm section and the Bonzo solo was outrageous
@@mikemustang3791 I saw them last night in Chicago, I totally agree, Craig has the fire that is needed, still he is not as good as Phil and Chester, but Craig is very good, and he is just getting started, Chester got better after playing with Genesis a few years too.

Best Prog band? Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd ( maybe too much of a mainstream rock behemoth), ELP, Rush..? Genesis made the most beautiful, esoteric music.
I think so too though I like the others very much in different ways. For me the most evocatice romanticism was in Genesis. Rush had great longevity. Wish I had seen them. What a power trio! I did see Yes but quite late on, thankfully still with Anderson. Unique.

Hearing rob Townsend play the flute solo backs up Steve's theory that genesis should have got other musicians in to contribute to their sound and increase the colours. , the beatles, the who and others saw no shame in using outside string and horn players to widen their pallete. Indeed gabriel saw the light once he was out of the common room..

Came here to hear craig Blundell, England's premier drummer. He's fab here. There. and every where (try: Frost Towerblock live!)
I was already in awe of Roger King, but now that I see the little "fck brxt" sign on his synthesizer, I love him even more.
There are many more here and there, especially on the flight cases. They may be easier to spot on other videos... have a glance.

Can anyone tell me the make of the double-neck the bassist is playing? Much obliged.
As mentionned in Reingold's own blog, it's a Shergold/Richards Double-neck guitar. As far as I know, they only make custom instruments, and can go up to 12-strings guitar upper-neck + 8-strings bass lower-neck combinations !
Mike Rutherford used to play one as well, but with a slightly different combination. And sometimes he even played modified models with detachable "halves" to be played as a standard single-neck one.
I'm curious on the exchange at 8:56, looks like "fuck off". Anyone? :)
Performance is great but filming is on the poor side ! The musicians deserved a better coverage
Most shots of the drummer are framed way too high : too much space above his head + many hits are not visible as they disappear at the lower edge of the frame.
Those zoom-ins and zoom-out are horrible, and soooooo shaky they give nausea. Cameras also pan right or left in a complete out-of-control manner.
Also, around 5:00 the mixing for the bass lines are way too high, in a way they crush on the lead voice. This bass guitar is a custom-made model and has a powerful built-in pre-amplifier, it takes a more discrete sound mix to merge it into the music.
Too bad... all this penalises the great work those talented guys produced.
