This week, we visit a special 3-room resale HDB at Everton Park sized at 770 square feet. Homeowners Lewis and Jeanna both loved retro designs, and it was a straightforward decision that their home be vintage-inspired as such.
They fell in love with this particular old resale HDB at Everton Park over many of the newer flats that they viewed, particularly because of the old terrazzo floor tiles (and yes, of course this was kept!). As well as the original envelope that the house keys first came in!
They've also transformed the layout, so instead of 2 bedrooms, one was knocked down to extend the living room instead. Every piece of art in the house is totally unique, and we especially like the art pieces that were given by Jeanna's mum.

Source around. Usually those experience contractor/ID with good plumbers will have experience doing it. It is possible but gotta see the layout of the house.
@@LordBagdanoff mind sharing who is the contractor who helped build in the 2nd toilet? This will help to save alot of time asking around the contractors. Best look for one that has experience.😊

Hi! 1st to comment. Reminds me of our childhood home at C'wealth Dr. BTOs gives you the 'wow' feeling but refurbished old flats really warms your heart. Brings back old memories when your eyes began to wander around the house. The gate, the room doors, the kitchen, the flooring....they are all so familiar

What a fantastic design! Lewis and Jeanna could mix the old and new elements so harmoniously with great-taste art pieces and relics of the original house. Their vibes are also key elements to make this house unique. Anyway, Everton Park is a good place.

I love the old hdb style/layout. When i went for house viewings, those newer flats with full height windows doesnt feel homely to me.

Whoever thought of full height windows will be a good idea, clearly never cleaned windows their entire lives. Plus, little to no privacy with full height windows.
@@SukrinoRahman It is a matter of personal preference really. Good thing about it is that more light will come into the house, but they just doesn't feel homely to me..

They do a box up behind wall to conceal the sewer pipe. Eventually combine into a single vertical stack.

The art in this couple's house may not be the taste to everyone but it's uniquely their style and their story.

well.. for my BTO home I build it in a way to mimick my wife original Northern Thai home while incorporating rustic and cozy charms of a Thai home.
Very thoughtful to make it feel like home for her 🙌

they had two bedrooms n can install extra toilet bowl?
They removed the 1st bedroom to make it into a living room, so they only have 1 bedroom. regardless they did carve out a separate area for a lone toilet bowl.
For me I would have kept those old HDB door, they are really functional, I can't understand why people will throw away those door , it is very cosy decor, yes I would hack off the 1 room wall , but will make a glass fan door with a curtain , if there is some friend would like to stay for a night ,at least there is one extra room to sleep over . And also the room can be a study room, nice kitchen , my 3 room is similar with 2 separate toilet , one
bathroom and a toilet , but I have a extra utility room
Thanks for sharing that Jay! Yes it's good to have a separate room for guests to stay over, though some homeowners might not feel that it would happen (unless they have overseas friends or do stay overs!). They did convert the utility room into a study room which is behind the kitchen 😀

The terrazzo floor ah, after about 20 years you will notice sand popping out of the floor. I had to live with that torture for 14 years, it is not pleasant. You're going to be tortured with mopping the sand every 2 days.

I had this terrazzo flooring and hated it so much as it too high maintenance. Finally got it fixed with vinyl flooring and it’s life changing

The HDB is possibly young enough to outlive the owners, or maybe they'd sell before then 😀
@@StackedHomes short changed buyers... stay a couple of years as owners...sell to another sucker....and then start buying another hdb....and then beautify it and then sell it....and then buy a freehold attap and build a mansion and then sell it and then build another and then sell it....
Where is it gonna end.....if.its freehold hdb....will the owners have worry about....oh my god my flat lease is ending....can i give it to my grandchildren....no no no hdb says you cant do that....you must this you must that...i have to ask my boss....or you only can sell back to hdb.....then your children and grandchildren will have to earn and save enough to get their homes.....THATS WHY I ADVISE OUR YOUNG TO GET A FREEHOLD HOME....WITHIN YOUR MEANS...

spent almost 500k just for this 40 plus year old flat and a corridor unit at that? not very smart. soon they will regret to no end
50k lah, not 500k. It is a matter of time that it will be en-bloc due to the building's age. So the couple can relocate to the stuffy, boring new BTO flat (if they choose to) as stipulated by HDB.
