    What a treat it was experiencing this Bigazzi BMW E36 STW beast back on track!
    Chassis STC95/031 was run in period by Bigazzi and won the 1995 Nürburgring 24hr, 1996 and 1997 Spa 24hrs, however since these victories
    hasn't been seen out on a circuit since.
    Now owned in 2021 by JRT it has been brought back to life and was seen testing at Donington Park in November. This is one of the most original Supertourers i've seen and I want to say a massive thank you to Andrew Jordan and his team at JRT for allowing me to spend some time with them.

      It's in absolutely mint condition! The Spa track map still on the ceiling is a great touch too! 👌

    Thank you for sharing this fantastic car on your video. This car with the S42B20 sounds quite a bit different (more refined) than the S14B20 engined models. What is the advantage for the S42?

      Ok M52 guy here. First of all I was not expecting a 4 cylinder under the hood. Secondly is this like a supped up 318 motor or is it like an e30 m3 motor? I ask cause I’m much more familiar with I6 bmw engines than 4 pots.

      @@IDJMK The S42B20 is a modified M42 318i engine, while the S14B20 is a modified E30 M3, both are 4 cylinders, both used in the E36 touring cars in 2 litre capacity. Good information on S42 engines are hard to come by, I do not know how many actual components are shared with the production 318i engine, probably only the block and basic cylinder head casting.

      BMW started to compete in STW with E36 with S14B20 engine. Only a few limitation were for the engine: max 2000 ccm, max 6 cylinder, steel crankshaft and conrods and the most important 8500 RPM. BMW soon realized that S14 has bad bore to stroke ratio for these RPM and that the engine with longer stroke would have more HP. Because of that BMW made S42(from M42) with 86.5 mm bore and 85 mm stroke. Last gen. of S42 ('98.) has 315 HP.

      @@IDJMK 4 cylinder is all you can expect in those cars especially these days. Actually E36 with an engine based on the 136hp m47d20 won 24h of Spa. A few years ago DTM downgraded from V8 to V4 engines

    Anyone advise on suspension?? How can the car setup so low and have a functional suspension travel/performance etc...? What spring rates do these cars usually run? Any good sources of how to set up suspension etc?

      Strictly its not 'low'. Stw e36 is not at all like the production car. All the suspension mounts are further up into the shell. If you get to see one look at the bonnet/inner wing drip runner channel and see how far it is to the arch... there is no drop down on the stw. And all subframes are totally different too. Outer panels swop over, but thats where the similarity ends.

      Thise are 19, as stated. But stw e36 alternated between 18 and 19 depending on tyre/conditions.

    Hello professionals. I want to buy a BMW E36 and I want to develop it for racing and I want to know what is best for handling and drifting is it a sedan or a coupe

    • @janbarc8042
      @janbarc8042 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stock coupe is lighter but sedan has 4 doors to change them into lighter ABS or glassfiber one so if you have money and time sedan is better. Sedan is stiffer too so i would choose sedan if i wear you.

    • @kevinmenard6792
      @kevinmenard6792 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@janbarc8042 first part is wrong. Sedan is better in every way because it’s ALSO lighter AND stiffer. It doesn’t really make sense but most 3 series 4-door are lighter than 2-door. I think it’s because they need to add more superficial crash structure.
