My grandmother kept telling me that she was going to die soon when I was little. I only worked out now that she was around 55 years old back then. She is still alive at 84, doesn't wear a headscarf but has a carpet on her wall.
Wave Rider my grandma also has a carpet on her wall XD
OMG my grandma has a carpet on her wall XD
Why does she have a carpet on her wall?
HHAHAHHA LEL TRUE
Aww enjoy your tine with grandmothers as you possibly can. Mine passed away when I was a teen and I miss her so much. She was a wonderful woman and tough and strong and just the strongest woman I ever known in my life. My mother is the same way tho. haha.
I'm Russian and I approve this 100%
I'm lithuanian and my grandmother do all this thing, specialy about food :D

russian winters are quite cold ... so the walls are also cold . rugs are hung on walls above beds or couches to block cool air which radiates from those walls. in the times of the USSR rugs were also investment + status symbol + wall decorations ... for example Persian rugs are famous all over the world and very expensive
very interesting , thank you
If she doesn’t give you kampot something wrong
TamerOfTheCats BAHAHAHA OMG SO RIGHT 🤣🤣🤣
TamerOfTheCats OMGGGGGGG TRU
Kompot

Brazilian' grandmothers do the same. And for food.. They force feed you until you become obese!!
By the way, my grandmother (father's side) had one carpet on the wall. Was a nice piece with a roaster on it. It is art! :P

Very much like Hungarian grandmothers...
+Ava Hendricks really? That's interesting :)
Zahar Panda yep. This vid really reminded me of my grandma and other Hungarian women in my family
aren't Hungarian people slavs too?
No, but we share a lot of history. (I mean with us Czechs and Slovaks who are Slavs)
Hungarians are related to Germans/Austrians if I'm not mistaken.
My great grandmother came from Russia I was very young but I remember her well! Watching this brought back so many memories! Thank you
honestly, getting gifts from your Russian grandma is always the best 👌
I wanted to say that this really reminded me of my grandma when she was alive. She came from Poland but was just like this. She was 95 when she passed two years ago. Thanks for making this :)
Omg this is so true BAHAHAHA!
Why are there ALWAYS rugs on the wall?
It's an ancient secret of "Russian Grandmas"
Its because russians live in shity houses so rugs stop wind
2ez 4me cause it's pretty
Yea, i know cause i live in Lithuania and its kinda like Russia
Idk... tradition? In Western Europe, they had gobelins. In the East, hand-woven wall carpets. They are a nice decoration and a sign of wealth. I guess poor Americans just can't afford them (or even wallpaper), so they're stuck with plain drywall.
still one of my favorite of your videos
One summer when I went to my grandma's house for a month and when I went home I had gained 4 kilograms
I am Bulgarian

*my grandma is almost exactly like this but without the scarf*
I’m Russian but lived in America my whole life, and my grandma is ALWAYS COLD I never understood why since she should be used it but idk lol, this is what she says: Здесь дует идём садится там, Здесь тоже дует ой, Спросите если они могут выключить! Me: Бабушка на улице жарко 🤣
My polish grandma says these exact same things
Can someone explain why Russian grandmas wear scarves
It is more like a headscarf. It`s kind of a part of traditional women`s costume in Russia. Of course, not all granmas wear these, but those who have lived their whole live in a countryside in a village or smthn would wear this becouse of traditions. For example, both of my grandmas are from the city, and they dont wear a headscarf.
It's a Russian Orthodox Church thing
it's called platok, and it's very cosy and warm...
It's like saying Indian women wear sarees all the time.
Slavic tradition (mainly after christening) allowed only little girls and unmarried to be seen with uncovered hair. It's comes from the past, nowadays it's fading and is really required only if a women entering the church.
BTW Russian girls was ought to have only one hair plait before marriage and two after. Twas a lot of such cultural traditions.
I've always wondered what the carpet on the wall was meant for. Great video though!
My Russian grandma always asks if I want something to eat 😂
My grandma is also sad about me not being fat. She once sayed "Now my life is useless, so I will at least do justice to food."
Omg my grandmother is Ukrainian and acts the same way. Even now she is 98 yrs old, but still gardens , cooks, cleans and refuses anyone trying to help her, even tries to shovel snow.
Totally my grandmother
we have carpets on our Walls because most of The time The carpets Are near beds, so when we turn over we don't get cold (or hurt ourselves)
r.i.p. my grandma
also we have carpets on our walls in our house
Oh my goodness! I have the same exact mirror

Russian 🇷🇺 Caviar I love you so much
ковры на стенах это круто
Согласна. Твоя аватарка напомнила мне о моем детстве.
Wave Rider Kinder Surprise, коллекция львов
Vasya Kurolesov
NOOOOOOO WHY IS THERE A WALL CARPET I AM NOT RUSSIAN SOMEONE HELP ME I AM DYING FROM THIS CLIFFHANGER.
My dad said to keep the walls warm... but we never had one on the wall... so
russian winters are quite cold ... so the walls are also cold . rugs are hung on walls above beds or couches to block cool air which radiates from those walls. in the times of the USSR rugs were also investment + status symbol + wall decorations ... for example Persian rugs are famous all over the world and very expensive
