Just watched this with my girlfriend and we were amazed at the split personality in this video, it was so amusing. I have never seen someone hate the luck of an imaginary player that they themselves played :D Rahdo, we love you, seriously :D
Richard,I am sure you were frustrated with Jen's "out the butt" doubles... Lol You have almost forgot, every time, to re-roll your retrieved, bumped workers. You have to roll them as soon as they are retrieved and bumped. I count 4 times you pulled, bumped workers and used the same pip to do the next action... to many to list by time. Maybe just a blanket annotation that you forgot to roll workers immediately... ;)
At around the 11:00 min mark (just before), Jen moves twice in the tunnel...but the miner never leaves his spot (unless you fix it later...typing as I watch).
Ya know, Richard, when you "blocked" Jen with your "4" die on that Generator space, THAT'S when you started rolling consecutive doubles. I believe they call that Karma.
At 29:20 I do not think Jen gets a food because (also at 31:48 either) she has 1 artifact card (she got it at 10:28) off the the right of the board, which you hand blocks the view of til 29:28
Was waiting to comment on this, but no one else caught it. The Allegiance tracks bonuses are only for matching face-up recruits. Meaning at 39:30 you could only get a gold OR an Artifact since you do not have a face-up Euphorian recruit, even though you did not because you could not have another Artifact card. You caught it at 02:37 that you did not get 3 Electricity because you did not have a face-up Euphorian, but that goes for ALL the Allegiance track bonuses not just Commodities. I can only hazard a guess that those myriad of doubles really threw you off your normal game, sorry about all the corrections.
Double down house rule decrease the luck of rollout doubles. The rule is you have to pay 1 moral to reroll each die that is double, of course the first is free.
Hey Rahdo, sold me again. Just picked this up and can't wait to play it, after I get through my copy of Concordia. Really enjoy your reviews. Have to say I enjoyed this particular one the most though. Shouldn't laugh at your misfortune with Jen's lucky rolls, but it was rather hilarious none-the-less. Anyway, keep em coming :)
OMG Those dice are not in your favour. ( still laughing) You really got upset. And actualy you got upset to yourself :D ( You roll better as Jen then for you :p)
You caught that you have to always roll your bumped and retrieved workers 06:02, I mentioned on the Runthrough you did not roll Jen's bumped 2. So her doubles were still powerful but not as powerful as you said, because they had to rerolled as soon as they get bumped, each time.
aargh! can't believe I missed so much in this vid. thanks for keeping me honest, notes added (for this, and all the other stuff you've sagely pointed out!)
yeah, he caught himself that he was supposed to reroll bumped workers...and then immediately forgot again and continued to play without rerolling the bumped workers
At 28:20, you placed on a construction site that had someone there already. I believe you can't do that because you missed out on the market in the Euphorian area that prevents you from placing in construction sites that have a worker already.
Hey Richard, if you ever going to do a Video, that shows a series of "the most special moments while a Rahdo Runthrough" than this time marker here should be in it (16:57) ;)
At 02:06 Jen should have gotten a bonus fruit, along with her 3 energy, because of her recruit's power. "Corrected" Richard has a recruit that gives -knowledge
good catch on the fruit. note added i was able to reduce knowledge because i had gidjet the hypnotist (icarite faction), and that's her special power :)
Jen was certainly on a roll!!, great run through as usual. Game looks a blast to play. Was that Descent 2.0 I saw sneak view of ready for next run through?
i rarely get to go back and play games we like after i'm finished filming them, as i'm always having to cover new games. that said, we have played a few times since, and i've kept the game because we do really like it
Richard, it seems to me that doubles are overpowered in a two player game since it only requires two resources to create a market. When playing with two players I would eliminate the benefits from rolling a double (at least on the market)
there is a variant rule where you can require a player to pay morale if they want to place double workers and if they can't pay the morale, they can't do it. when I first read that rule, it seemed dumb, but after watching this, I think it probably should be used, at least in 2 players.
Question: at around 24 minutes when you finally get your own pair, couldn't you have spent a water and used the first worker to start building the tunnel from the undercity to the wasteland, thus getting a steel (or whatever those round things are) and then used your second worker and spent the steel to finish the market Jen had started, thus getting a point and preventing yourself from getting hit with the negative?
At 43:42, you say you won't get the "and" because you don't have a Euphorian, but as I read the rules, they do not say this benefit only applies to those having the appropriate faction. That is only mentioned in conjunction with the commodity benefit. Is there a correction to the rule book? At about 44:28 you say you need one teddy bear to fight the establishment, or two artifacts to contribute to the dystopia. But I think the rules clearly say that you may either pay the one bear or two of any artifacts and then choose which you want to do.
Any benefits from the allegiance track (the commodities, the tunnel, and the stars) only applies to people with a "face-up" recruit of that particular faction.
I just realized that nobody has gone hard after Artifacts in our half-dozen or so games...have to try that next time if my Faction supporters help with that.
Jason, The Ethical Dilemma cards all have a different first cost, it is a specific artifact card (i.e. Balloons) and the second cost is any 2 artifact cards. The flavor text is also different on each card but it does not change the 2 things the dilemma cards can do. Once you pay either cost... 1. Draw 2 recruits and keep 1. (This can be hit or miss, maybe if you draw a same faction and you already have that faction allegiance track all the way to the Authority Star?!). 2. Place an Authority Star on this card. (I have seen games lost by 1 star and this not being done... so YMMV). Very highly recommend this game... ;) Big bonus, the reference legend is printed on the back of the 6 ethical dilemma cards... good thinking Jamey!
At 28:40, you place a star, so shouldn't you have gained an intelligence due to the Theater of Revelatory Propaganda? I think you actually forget this every time you place a star for the rest of the game.
Just watched this with my girlfriend and we were amazed at the split personality in this video, it was so amusing. I have never seen someone hate the luck of an imaginary player that they themselves played :D

Kristo Vaher You have perfectly described exactly why I watch this channel...
I never thought I'd hear rahdo nerd rage. :D

sounds like an intereting game. Thanks for review Rahdo

Nevermind, you just fixed it. :)
Ya know, Richard, when you "blocked" Jen with your "4" die on that Generator space, THAT'S when you started rolling consecutive doubles. I believe they call that Karma.
LOL good point. instant karma's gonna get me, gonna knock me off my feet
Yeah, but you'll still shine on.

clearly this is needed to prevent luck from winning the game

pretty funny how many doubles YOU rolled as "Jen" lol
When Jen came home that day did you give her the cold shoulder for all those doubles? ;)
OMG Those dice are not in your favour. ( still laughing) You really got upset. And actualy you got upset to yourself :D ( You roll better as Jen then for you :p)

At 9:37, shouldn't you have also increased your standing with the icarians as well as taking the two artifacts? (benefit of breeze bar).
noted... thanks :)

Following you on G+ now and not sleeping...Lol

i'll get it in front of the camera before too long :)
Has this game seen more play from you two, after the video? Thinking of getting it. Amazing video, as usual.
i rarely get to go back and play games we like after i'm finished filming them, as i'm always having to cover new games. that said, we have played a few times since, and i've kept the game because we do really like it
This comment must have been a blast from the past then. :D Tnx for replying!

i'm inclined to agree...

I've never seen you more frustrated in a game than when the doubles kept coming up for Jen!

Whoops! Nevermind! You noticed it!

Where is this written?
Page 7, on the part pertaining to allegiance track.
I just realized that nobody has gone hard after Artifacts in our half-dozen or so games...have to try that next time if my Faction supporters help with that.
Jen has an artefact card. She got at least 5 unjustified free food ;)
would have been good to see the dilemma's used. Not sure how those work, but they should powerful.
Jason,

so funny how he gets upset playing against himself :D
"SO unfair!"
When Jen spent the gold and brick to open the first Wastelander market, shouldn't she have gotten a bonus to her morale for using a gold?
oops, was that a bonus she had at that moment? aargh! do you remember when that happened so i can go in and add a note? thanks! :)
At 28:40, you place a star, so shouldn't you have gained an intelligence due to the Theater of Revelatory Propaganda? I think you actually forget this every time you place a star for the rest of the game.
i believe you're right! good catch, will add a note :)
When jen bought second market she never gave up the gold.
***** was literally 20 seconds after i commented on this he said that.
I would like to meet this... "Jen"
check faq.rahdo.com #1 and you won't be disappointed :)
Every time you've placed a star you didn't increase your knowledge per the penalty...Or am I missing something?
nope, i just forgot a bunch of stuff while filming this... so much going on! do you remember a time where i goofed with that, to help me add a note :)
Sorry I had to down vote it for that rant about the double 2s ha ha ha!
Hmmm a board gamer with am imaginary girlfriend...Hmmm...Any how thanks for this.
