@@RayQ101l had this thought too, but l think, the Authorities of this Island should not allow in bad weather conditions, or under any conditions let people hike alone there. It should be a requirement to be accompanied. I found, while wandering in Mountains with ravines, deep jungle like forests with small paths, and boulders all alone ones gets all types of crazy, or insane, or mysterious thoughts. So sorry for the parents to have lost a son like this. But this tragedy is a result of their son’s choice & decision. To me, mountain climbing or even hiking a trail in the mountains is really very risky. While many may have successfully done this activity, it is a fact that many also lost their lives and never to be found. There are just too many risks especially if the climber is alone. It’s the wilderness and the weather could get too cold because of the altitude and environment. When the climber is lost or gets into an accident, it’s almost if not always the end of life. If the climber can get back or be found alive, that’d be extreme luck. This adventurous spirit wanting to challenge himself in this mountain has made his family suffer a great deal because he’s never found, it’s so hard to accept the reality, it’ll never end the pain. There is no evidence of a dead body but of course, he’s most likely gone. My prayers are for the deceased to rest in peace and the living parents to find comfort in accepting the loss of their beloved son. May they just continue to live well.
I hope somebody finds their son before they pass away. And I also hope they get psychological help, both of them. They have no will to live. Him being their only son, the pain is completely understandable.
43:50 I'm glad the parents re-opened their restaurant. Nothing is going to make them feel better except finding their son, but at least by working in the restaurant they can be busy and have contact with people. Moving on? How can they move on when their hearts' have been ripped out of them? But stopping everything and slowly dying isn't good, either. I hope for the best for this family and that people around them, their customers provide continued support and encouragement so that their burden is lightened.
Sending my prayers to his parents. Truly hope he’ll be found alive. Please don’t let them be in pain too long. Send him back to the awaited embrace of his folks.
My heart is aching for these parents. I hope their son just got lost, and living in a home somewhere in the forest. And come home one of these days. I also hope somehow they will find peace in their hearts to lessen their pain and agony. My heart goes to the Kims.
I have hiked this route, its easy to get lost during snow but its also easy to find a way out by hiking all the way up, i think he didnt because he couldnt somehow, also there no other houses or huts on this mountains abandoned in the middle of nowhere unless on the paths, so am almost sure he didnt made it, especially with the extreme cold and not proper gear. Its sad but it is also a lesson for hikers , dont hike alone, dont hike without correct gear and dont leave to late and check the sunset times. He wanted to arrive at 6 pm...that is far to late since sun sets around 4:40 which means in the woods you see nothing very fast.
I could feel the deep pain of this couple. It hurts to see them suffer like this. I will pray for your son that God will bring him back home.🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🕊️🕊️🕊️

This is heart wrenching. I can not even imagine the agony these parents are going through. There must be some organization out in the hiking world that can help these parents to find peace. Everyone needs to share this story in hopes that there is an organization that can help find their son....help bring him home. My heart goes out to his family. I will continue to pray for them and pray that their son makes his way back home 🙏❤️

One day I went hiking with my local guide in Japan, we found a guy who hid himself behind the tree facing the cliff. The guide told me to ignore the person and keep walking as the ambulance would come and pick him up later 😢. It’s probably common in Japan for those who want to design the end of their lives this way, leaving the world without letting anyone find their bodies.
I dont think he tried to suicide otherwise why write down your name? I think from the cctv he didnt had priper gear and he left way to late, winter in japan the sun sets an hour earlier than in korea, so at 4:30/5 its dark, he planned to arrive 6 and left at 11...way to late for this hike in my opinion , its sad but as a hiker we learn from this. And i am happy you hike with a guide, safety first

when the mom brought up the cat that’s when i started crying because it is a bitter sweet reminder of her son. why should life be so unfair ? she probably sees that car and feels conflicted. the cat is a piece of her son, but why should a cat live but our loved ones go ? she probably feels guilty knowing her son loved that cat & so to have those thoughts feels like a betrayal to his memory and to who he was. i am very sorry. and i am sure your son is too. ❤ may god bless you both and give you peace in this life despite this unimaginable loss.
i’m a bit irritated the visitors center/ranger station didn’t warn him about the weather conditions, and that even if he was aware he would need certain gear to be safe.
Perhaps this is naive, since I know Japanese forests can be impossibly dense, but have there been drone searches? I hope they find their son, this made me cry very hard...
Wow this is so heartbreaking. The mother crying in the beginning just tore my heart to pieces and the pain the father must feel to try and hold it together for them. I feel so bad for the father doing his best and all he can do to try to find any clues. I pray for them to bring their son home for some peace of mind and closure. I can’t imagine the overbearing pain they must feel. I’ll pray for your family.

They are truly by themselves, it’s awful. I am by myself also with my kids but if something like this happened I think their friends or some of my family would help. At least I hope so The mum is right, keep asking for searches, keep pushing, do tv interviews, do flyers, keep publicly putting his name out there. @@mimsydreamsyep, that’s exactly what this person is saying. There are many other comments by this person saying Koreans shouldn’t visit Japan, Japanese people don’t help Koreans, and they even suggested the poor guy was murdered. Definitely some deep-seeded hate for Japan there :/
@@LR-yt2yy I know Japan and Korea have a horrible history (comfort women/sex slavery), so I understand the distrust in the Japanese government. But the people who offered this family to keep looking on their behalf, were Japanese citizens. I wouldnt judge the whole country, based on these cops who refuse further investigation. Like any trip to a foreign country, no one should travel alone. Accidents can happen anywhere and being alone just means people can't find you or know what happened. Even locally! In the USA, people go missing on our hiking trails and mountains ALL the time.
I wish and pray that the parents continue to be strong for their own sake. It's a relief that they try their best to move forward by living their lives, even without their son in physical sense. In my belief, the son suffered from hypothermia due to the unexpected change of weather, got disoriented, got lost in the deep of the forest and passed... doing what he loved.

As another experienced hiker said, many people when lost or the weather turns bad will try and go down the gorge. The gorge is extremely rugged and people fall and injure themselves and succumb to their death. In the camera video, when he is signing in, you can tell he is not wearing the right clothing for a sudden weather change. The cabin he was supposed to go to was not visited by him. It is extremely sad and heartbreaking for the parents especially because he is their only child. They just need closure and have their son found and brought home for a proper burial. The mother is in denial and the father has accepted the truth. If their son was dealing with mental illness and could have possibly run away, they would have talked about that. That is not the case here. When the restaurant opened back up again, one of the customers said something and I wondered if their customers even knew what happened? He said to the mother, "Where have you been on vacation that you're just opening your restaurant now"? Closure is such a big thing and it helps the heart and mind heal. It may be years or a few months before a body is found. I hope that day comes for them soon. I know how they feel in a little way. My brother was shot and killed in 2005 and the two men who were involved were never found. Those two men are out there having a life and have never been caught. It angers me and makes me sad. The gun that was used to kill my brother was found nearby but the fingerprints on it did not match anything in the system and the cameras nearby that captured the two men were too grainy to identify them. Love and Prayers to the parents. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏📿📿📿🫂🫂🫂♥♥♥
As a snowhiker myself that lives in japan and hiked this trail i can say he didnt had the correct gear and he left to late to be able to find the hut , its gets dark around 4:40/5 he said to be arrived at 6pm. . Its impossible with snow conditions to make it in time without any gear, its pretty steep to and slippery and muddy first then icy. I think he sadly underestimated the nature and didnt check the time since some think korea and japan have the same timezone also have same sunset times which is not. Korea the sun sets an hour later always. Its sad :( so sad
@@IOPE_ It's actually good to hear from an experienced hiker and one who had actually hiked this trail. I wonder if the people who work at the Registration Office (where he was signing in and seen on camera) give some tips to hikers. Such as making sure they have proper clothing bc the weather can turn very quickly, telling them what the sunset time is, and warning them in case of emergency if they get lost to stay off the gorge bc it is steep slippery, and dangerous. I just wonder if those tips are posted or told to them. If in the past, hikers have lost their lives, the only way people can learn is to learn from their mistakes, sadly.
@@Moodboard39 Unfortunately, Racist people exist everywhere so it doesn't matter if he was Korean or them being Japanese? I think Hikers have a love for nature and share that knowledge with all. I don't know what he was told and if they did tell him any warnings. I don't see why he would ignore it. Telling someone about the dangers of nature is an honest truth and what would a racist Japanese person gain by telling a lie about it? Death? That is just pure evil then. It is really sad what happened and I think he made mistakes, simple mistakes that caused his demise. I hope with fatalities that happen on the trail. They put up warning signs to watch for or preparation for the unexpected when hiking that trial.
@@demijour1234 normally the sign in is just a post box, he signed in at a station where a person was there, when I was there i was very early like many are ,most slip the note in post box. I think the giy at the office didnt think he would hike all the way maybe?... Since he was so late in start, they normally not ask what route etc you will take some are short some are long but you write it down. It gets checked only afterwards. Two years ago l saw a video about Aokigahara, Sea of Trees, a forest on the northwestern flank of Mount Fuji on the Island of Honshu, called Suicide Forest, as many suicidal people are visiting there. And in the past many died there. 54 people succeeded till now in 2023 there.
Yes! 100 percent. Never go in winter!
Watching this is so heartwrenching. No parents should experience this. I may not have a kid yet, but i do know if my parent or my dog were to go missing, I'd be extremely devastated. I really really hope her son will be found, be it dead or alive. My love and prayers go out to the family. ❤️🙏🏻
The pain and the agony of not knowing, having to endure the lost of a loved one. I pray that he may be found and reunited with his family. May God give them strength and courage ❤
My heart breaks for this family. I can't imagine what they are going thru, it takes your breath away. Im so happy the mother has been able to gather her strength and reopen the resaurant with the hope her son come back. I hope their son is found soon. I'll keep them in my prayers.
The moment the mother talks to the cat brings me so much tears. I cant get rid of this sadness watching the parents in agony. My sincere and deepest hope if someone would help out in the search. I dont understand why the Japanese authorities seem not to be so cooperative and helpful. Please mr @beastrunners help the parents out. I hope you will see this. Im also willing to help if there is gofundme. Prayers
It is heartbreaking to see the parents to go through such pain. I pray for his safe return soon. 🙏📿
This is so heart wrenching. May the son rest in peace, and the parents find peace. My deepest condolences.
If anyone is curious about his text to his friend it said … He is still alive. the rain hit. and his cell phone is cutting out. his friend says “rain wow!”Then he sends his location . His friend responds with “good”.👍🏼
Prayers for the Kim family. It's October 1, 2023. The sadness I feel for his parents is overwhelming. I hope the Japanese find Kim Sung-jin somehow. These parents need peace of mind.
There are no words to take away their pain other than that their son wouldn't want his parents to suffer like this. I hope they can find peace ❤️
Prayers to the father and mother. Nature is forgiving, hiking in the snow is dangerous even for experts. I truly hope they can recover/find the body.
May they just continue to live well.
very sad...i pray that the parents will finally have peace and acceptance in their hearts..
I hope somebody finds their son before they pass away.
And I also hope they get psychological help, both of them. They have no will to live. Him being their only son, the pain is completely understandable.
I feel so sad for the parents 😢 May God bless them and protect them. May their son return one day. Pray for a miracle.
Praying for this family. I could feel their pain. Hope he is found soon.🙏
Dear god please let these heartbroken parents bring their son’s remains home to give him a proper burial 😢🙏
So heartbreaking. I can't imagine the pain of losing your own child. 😢😢😢
There's this Taiwanese i think, who helped find missing hikers. He has a youtube channel called Beast Runners, i hope you will try to contact that person, maybe he could help.
Praying that your son will come back soon. Be strong both of you. I know it's hard but God will give you strength & wisdom.
It seems like every free moment the mother gets, she is praying. I'm certain her prayers will be answered. I wish the parents to keep holding onto each other and support each other through this. Their love for their son is greater together.
My gosh, this was absolutely gut, wrenching hearing that mom sobbing for her son 😢 Prayers for comfort and strength 🙏🏻
Don’t watch this if you’re in a public place .. my heart breaks but at the same time I’m blessed with their love to their son .. hope they will reunite healthy and safe x
And i am happy you hike with a guide, safety first
Why go to Japan?.
@@Moodboard39 the nature, and leas cold for hiking in winter season compared to korea
My prayers n thoughts for this family. I felt their pain n cried while I watched. I pray that their son is found
What a wonderful father...so sorry to hear about his loss.
The father had tried to staying strong in front of his wife... but when he was alone in the lodge, he cried calling out "Mom"... that makes me so sad... I wish there would be a miracle for the parents...
This WON the Best Documentary Award at the 48th Korea Broadcasting Awards. The director shared it is about 'Why Humans Live.” The way the mom clutches her heart every time she mentions her son 😢
So sad . My heart breaks for them. 😢
true
What unbearable pain. My twin sons are now 50 & they are still my babies. He will always be his mother's lost baby. What a nightmare.
My heart breaks for the parents. I pray for the Lord’s joy & strength and a MIRACLE where the son walks through the front door, calling”mom, dad, I’m home” ❤
Now I do understand about my parents worry everytime I go out of town or overseas for longer time, the harsh reality for having only 1 children. I sincerely hope they can make peace whatever the closures is 🙏
My heart breaks, their pain is profound 😢 May they find peace and solace in each other’s hearts 🙏🏻
I pray that her son will be found and be send back to her 🙏🏻
when the mom brought up the cat that’s when i started crying because it is a bitter sweet reminder of her son. why should life be so unfair ? she probably sees that car and feels conflicted. the cat is a piece of her son, but why should a cat live but our loved ones go ? she probably feels guilty knowing her son loved that cat & so to have those thoughts feels like a betrayal to his memory and to who he was. i am very sorry. and i am sure your son is too. ❤ may god bless you both and give you peace in this life despite this unimaginable loss.
This is heart-wrenching
I hope that ... father and mother find strength... their son must be in safe place.... Stay strong Amma Appa.
Hiking in an unfamiliar area and in bad weather is very dangerous especially alone
Why even go to Japan
This is so heartbreaking. Prayers to the family. I hope they find their son soon.
i’m a bit irritated the visitors center/ranger station didn’t warn him about the weather conditions, and that even if he was aware he would need certain gear to be safe.
Perhaps this is naive, since I know Japanese forests can be impossibly dense, but have there been drone searches? I hope they find their son, this made me cry very hard...
Im cry so hard. I hope their son comes back, whether dead or alive... stay strong eoma appa
I cannot imagine that my son can be missing. I cant live with that.... I send my prayers to the parents. 😢
the fact that I've also hiked here before gives me chills and feelings of sorrow. Pray that they will find him in time
Seeing this breaks my heart for these two loving parents. Sending love and hugs to both of you
It's heartbreaking to see both them just crying that's the only thing they can do, Hoping and Praying for your son he will comeback
Oh my heart. No one deserves this kind of pain. I cried for this family.
Omg I feel terrible for this man at his age doing this by himself. How lonely. I wish he had a big support team to help him, it makes me very sad. I would help if I was not in another country. They are truly by themselves, it’s awful. I am by myself also with my kids but if something like this happened I think their friends or some of my family would help. At least I hope so
The mum is right, keep asking for searches, keep pushing, do tv interviews, do flyers, keep publicly putting his name out there. Mum don’t give up, dad you have to support her in anything she thinks will help bc it’s her boy her son and her heart is broken as is yours but don’t dismiss her wishes, feelings, emotions pls. Come together and stick like glue.I’m praying for you both. 🙏
The Japanese government should be ashamed of themselves for not sending out massive search parties for this young man.
Sad sad sad. So sorry 💔
Lots of prayers. This really breaks my heart, the parents especially! I cried.
As a parent I understand what is like to be going through this heart breaking situation hopefully one day you'll be united with your beloved son God will heal both of you slowly and gradually
Sending my prayers to you 🙏
Had to cry, when her sister was praying to their parents to please help in any way. This whole family suffers.
It makes me upset that the Japan police won't search more, but I understand it puts their lives at risk too. They are not trained hikers and mountaineers. I hope some people more brave and experienced will volunteer to continue searching.
They hard on their own people lol imagine a Korean ?
Well, cops have specialist to do that . Dude it's not even Japanese ..
@@Moodboard39 Are you saying they won't search for him because he's not Japanese? I didn't get that impression.
This made me really cry especially when tge sisters are pleading to soul of their oarents to help her sister.
Superstition.
Why don’t you add Japanese translation for this documentary? I believe more Japanese people can help them to find him.
I keep trying to watch this but it’s too heartbreaking.
Aww bless the parents i feel so sad for them its so heartbreaking to see💔 😢 not knowing what had happening to there beloved son 😢 i really hope a pray they will find some answers what had happen to there son 🙏 🙏😢😢
I want to go to visit them, give my hugs to them. I lost my husband in a year ago and understand their pain. However, I’m a strong woman and I believe that we all have a reason to meet each people in our life. Parents, sisters, brothers, husband and my children. Same as this mama, I believed Buddha and trusted everything is fate. Like my husband and me, only 36 years’ fate since I met him when I was 18. I hope they can stay strong and take good care of themselves.
It’s terrible when you lose a child, the feeling of not knowing what to do and where to look and the feeling is terrible. I pray that god gives this couple the strength and that they are able to find some closer for their son. My prayers for them.
The love of the parents will follow the child wherever he goes. Hope the son will show up eventually in any form to help his parents find closure and peace.
Please help this Mom and Dad they just want their baby boy back Home to their arms. 😢😢😢😢😢❤
This video is very very saddening for me to watch
I have 4 boys
I hope they find their son. The unknown is sometimes harder than the known.
It breaks my heart to see your suffering. 😢 If I could afford to do so I would travel to o Japan to help with your search for him. I understand the pain you must feel. Please try to fill the emptiness with good memories and know that your son would not want you to be suffering like this. I pray for you to find news if him and finally peace. 🙏❤️
Very sad but I hope other young people learn from his mistake. 😢
R.i.p. 🕊️
Leaving this comment here with the prayer 🙏🏻 - NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE BEEN SO FAR FOR THE PARENTS ….. may they find their son ASAP Healthy and well . As the mother cries “ I can’t do anything but pray” … ahhh Prayers are heard they are always heard ❤ Never doubt what one prayer can do !
My youngest son passed away 8 years ago. I can relate to the pain she is feeling. I wanted to die for the first year after. You never get over it.
❤❤❤❤ so sorry…I hope you have peace
I mean it’s sad but you can always have another child , imagine loosing your parents , you can never get another one of them

You must not have children. Plus, I am too old to have another child.
I lost my father 2 months after losing my son it was nothing compared to losing my child. I pray that you never know the pain that I experienced.
Somebody please help him trace his son! Its so painful to watch them suffering alone. Someone from Japan Someone from Korea please help them in search operations 🙏 friends relatives and family please help them
I could really feels their pain.. Really hope they could find their son & have a closure.. Sending my prayers to them.. Watched before a foreigner staying in Japan YT channel searching for missing people in Mountain. If only they could engage him…
As another experienced hiker said, many people when lost or the weather turns bad will try and go down the gorge.
@@demijour1234He's Korean . He could've have warned him. U think they did ? If they did would he listen ???
Some Japanese are racist didn't u know
@@Moodboard39 Unfortunately, Racist people exist everywhere so it doesn't matter if he was Korean or them being Japanese?
I think its to much work to check all upfront and give advice since hiking is very popular in japan. Its in the end your own responsibility to. Always double check and be safe. I always hike with to much stuff because of this .
This is heartbreaking. My prayers are with you. May God bring you peace and comfort you. Stay strong in your Faith and believe that with God nothing is impossible.
