    Love the video. I wish you would have showed the wire harness that plugs into the gauge and more on the back of the gauge. But none the less great video.

    Kevin, I had to replace my fuel pump in Elkmont Campground, Smokies. Found the location to cut out the floor and landed right on top of the fuel pump. It was under the bed, this made it nice. Checked with mill supply, gave them the number off the top of the fuel pump and I had a new one in about two days. I believe the pump was $300. Used a 5-gal pail to put the old pump in as I took it out and walked it down the hall to outside. Everything worked great. My fuel pump did not fail but the high side outlet on top of the pump was cracked. Dealer in Knoxville was quoting once I was towed in about $ 1700 for the whole job. Keep your videos coming, 😎

    Kevin - Great advice. This type of gauge should be installed on all RVs!
    When driving our 2005 Winnebago Adventurer ( W22 chassis with ~ 80,000 miles) I began to experience back-firing. low power on hills, and a check engine light which kept coming on (same code - overheated O2 sensors on both banks - meaning the engine was running lean - and hence, too hot). Finally installed this gauge to see what our fuel pressure was - and it measured only about 40 psi. Way too low, as it should be about 55 - 62psi. Also indicated a fuel pump which was going bad. Could have totally failed at any time.
    So finally bit the bullet and installed a new fuel pump (as per another one of your videos - THANKS!). Immediately had about 60 psi, and and a MUCH better running engine. Just drove it south almost 1,000 miles - ran great, no check engine lights.
    So cannot recommend this gauge enough - especially for any Workhorse engine!
    THANKS KEVIN !!!!!

    I am SO happy that I have found your channel, you are a treasure trove of valuable information. I am curious if you have a 'plan' on how to siphon gas out of the tank before dropping the tank? It seems to me that there may be an anti theft device in the fill tube to the tank to prevent someone from siphoning gas.....if so, is there a work around to safely drain the tank?

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the chassis you could use the onan fuel pump to pump out most fuel. Or remove the rubber fill hose at the tank and insert a 3/8 rubber hose and siphon out. My cell is 606-875-0125 Kevin

    Hey Kevin, first thank you for taking the time to make this video. I'm curious as to why no fuel spewed out when you removed the schrader valve from the fuel manifold. Isn't the fuel lines always under pressure as it was at the end of the video when you were talking about the vapor lock you experienced in the mountains, and the engine was off? Thanks,

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you are correct the engine can sit for a week and still have 50 PSI on the fuel rail. Its been a while since that project but I think I remember slowly bleeding off the pressure by depressing the schrader valve with a small screw driver maybe 1 oz of fuel or less came out.

    Great video Kevin and thanks for showing me how. I have the same engine and will be buying the same gauge from Amazon and would like to get the schrader valve elbow adapter like yours. I saw that you had the 1/8 IPS coupler between the sender and the adapter. Can you tell me what the thread ID is on the connection to the schrader? THX in advance.

    Hi Kevin, Does the ScanGauge 2 have a protocol for the fuel pressure on a workhorse chassis?

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it does not that's why we have to use something like this. But it works great. Let me clarify workhorse does not have any fuel psi data sensor on the engine.. but other brands most likely do if so then maybe scangauge 2 would be able to display that data... but not for us workhorse owners

  • @jasondennis
    @jasondennis 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good idea. Does the ODBII port not show fuel pressure?

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jason Dennis sorry it does not I also run a scan gauge 2 that has I lot of data but not fuel pressure.
      see my video on the fuel pump by pass.

    Great video, I have a 2008 38J with the W24, 8.1, and am thinking about putting a fuel presure gauge in.
    How is your pressure going down the road nad also climbing hills? Just wondering how much drop, if any, I should expect.
    I have around 75,000 miles on now, and am wondering if it might be wise to swap out my fuel pump as a preventative measure.

    • @ktoutdoor

      62 psi going down the road hard pull high RPM maybe 58 psi text me sometime about the fuel pump my cell 606-875-0125 Kevin

      Super video I purchased all these parts and installed 1 year ago. My 8.1 has 60k on it and since the install at idle 49psi and under load 55psi. 5000 mile miles later no change. I carry an extra fuel pump sending unit just in case. You think this pressure is ok planning trip out west in Sept.Rig runs great.
