The format of this was brilliant. Was great having one person know the rules and the other one be blind going in. Getting to see their initial reactions for it is great. Would love to see this as the standard going forward!

If I could add one thing I'd change, go through the universal rules first; Faction Abilities and Datasheet Changes THEN Detachments so they can plan around that.
The GSC one, if Nick knew about the global nerfs he would have been able to strategise around each detachment differently.
While this was a great review of an amazing sounding book I just wanna say that this format was very fun to watch. Having the mega fan not know what was coming was hilarious 😂
I feel like nearly all introductary review format content benefits from Experienced individual teaching Inexperienced individual. Nick's childish joy adds so much lol.
As an ork player I’m very happy sisters players also got a fun codex. It’s disappointing that we have a trend where half the codices are super fun and flavorful and half of them are trash.
Exactly. How do you go from Custodes to this codex? Seems like 2 completely separate game editions..

I’d say way more than half are trash. Let’s be real here. So far Sisters and Orkz are the only ones that are actually good and fun. I don’t count Necrons. Cause while they were good. They certainly weren’t fun to play as. They pretty much had two detachments. One required spamming Wraiths. The other required buying a monolith, and spamming C’tan.
Every other codex is just varying degrees of bad. The fact that of the 5 lowest performing armies right now, 4 of them have already gotten their codex. Is very depressing.
The CSM codex is also great. Still too much trash that got released
@@chaoticflanaganGW has always had a bit of a bias in creating codexii. If the team doesn't like an army, the codex just becomes either really bland or arrives really late.
It's not as bad as it used to be. But i think there simply isn't anyone currently on the design team that actually plays custodes

At least this puts to bed the Imperium getting bad codexes myth. But you do have to wonder when they can write codexes like this, Orks, Csm, how we are getting the Custodes, Admech and Dark Angels codexes, seemingly every codex that comes makes those ones look even worse.

A full unit of hand flamer Seraphim with a Fire and Fury Canoness wielding a hand flamer can spew out 9d6+9 Devastating Wound shots at once. That's, on average, just over 40 Dev Wound rolls. Which is an average of 7 auto-wounds, in addition to anything done by the non-crit S5 flamer shots, the 10/11 on average S5 pistol hits and why not the S9 Hazardous Plasma Pistol shot. That is pretty hot, right?
Summer is gonna be a hell of a ride.
Guess I'm switching a bunch over to indirect and volume fire.

One thing to note about Penitent Host. The way its written seems to suggest you MUST choose one of the buffs at the top of the Battle Round which means your buffs are always turns 1, 2 and 3. So its not flexible and rather predictable. It's still very good, it just seems a lot of people who have talked about haven't mentioned this.
I think a lot of people are anticipating an errata on that.
Turns out go fast turn 1 go kill turn 2 and go kill more turn 3 is probably just fine
@@alms07 I think if it doesn't get an errata, it's hands down the worst detachment. Relying on mostly squishy penitent models turns 1-3 and then having zero supporting rules in the end game is not great.
Remember that time GW made an entire detachment for Custodes about running characters and then gave them no battle tectics......good to see they got that out of their system.
Loved the format of one person in the dark about the codex. Let's you have q and a kind of built into the review. Solid stuff keep em coming. Quite interested now that we have hit all the announced ones when they will give us info on the redacted one.

Only watched the detachments but everything feels fun. Powerfull. And thematic.
Incoming nerfs? Very likley. But I wont mind them if they are points increases. Inwould rather have strong and cool units that cost more, than weak cheap ones.
Through suffering strength didn’t change, it also used to be if you’ve only lost a wound
Just ordered my Codex, the new novel, the Army Of Faith box set, and on eBay I got some converted Crusaders that look awesome (yes I know Crusaders are gone, I wanted them as a painting project) and a converted Hospitaller on a horse. My army got a pretty big boost today. Bit heavy on the air support but from what I've seen Seraphim are kinda busted at the moment since you can boost the damage on their hand flamers.

I bought into Sisters a couple weeks ago, I‘m hyped.
Same! I randomly picked up the combat patrol last month knowing nothing and I feel like I randomly stumbled on to gold.
Incredible detachments and strats, some of the abilities might be a little too good, but the internal balance of the data sheets was definitely needed

I personally love that sisters have cracked rules but like 80% of the army is T3, it's just very funny to me.
This seems like such a well rounded book. However you want to play your sisters, there is an avenue for you to take.
Having played 40k for going on 30 years now, 10th edition hasn't really had me excited. After watching this video I'm geeked much like Nick. I've always loved the Sisters fiction. I remember buying metal sisters in second edition for a comic book store and playing with them. One of my regular opponents growing up in his hobby was a dedicated sisters player.
I am so happy and genuinely excited about an army in 40k for the first time in a long time.
I'm pretty sure the wording of Light of Emperor actually does leave -Damage -AP intact. it's models and specifically calling out WS /BS from weapons

So the suffering and sacrifice any model that cant allocate the attacks to the nominated unit then falls under the "no longer eligble" category and can select new targets!

I feel like SoB are going to be getting SOME points increases over this, but this is a good codex. Surprisingly deep for a 4 detachment codex, but it doesn't feel like it's lacking anything?

I don't think Light of the Emperor works quite like John was parsing it. The effect specifies profile characteristics of its models and those are just the ones on the top of a model's datasheet. The weapon characteristics are separate and the strat specifies only the WS and BS characteristics are effected. So I don't think LoE lets one ignore modifiers to damage, unless rolling damage because that seems like it would fall under the last bit ignoring modifiers to any roll.
One thing I think wasn't brought up might of been missed by people. On the army of faith auras if you move out of 3" and time you lose it.

Yep, so likely move faster turn 1, +1 attack and strength turn 2, fight on death turn 3. Absolutely broken if you go 2nd into melee armies
no its 3 out of 5 rounds you can choose which turn you can use them

Not gonna lie, I'm a filthy casual and never min/max the game, but some of the stuff you can do with this is disgusting, I love it. It all kinda depends on points, of course, but still, I audibly said "EW" at least four times, and I'm a Sisters player myself.

These detachments seem insanely fun and interesting on top of (Almost certainly) being incredibly strong.
Meanwhile Custodes is just uninteresting and not good.
Why is strands of fate nerfed into the ground but sister ls get a billion miracle dice that they can use on multiple units a phase?! GW has gotta make them be closer to each other bc one is vastly superior here

Oh wow. Sisters took the full nerf hammer on the points. Just about the most brutal nerfs I've seen. Melee units up about 50% on avg killed penitent host. Melee Sisters completely unplayable imo.

The first few things discussed here alone just make me sad for my Custodes... I get to explode on 5's ONCE per game, weeeeee!
EDIT: And they're also apparently better with flamers and meltas than my Salamanders. Man GW sucks at writing consistent codexes.
The flamer detachment for sisters is genuinely annoying. They just lifted the army rule and some of the strats straight out of Firestorm, word for word in some cases, like the get out of a transport and shoot back and the dev wounds for torrent (except they get it for 1cp instead of 2 for some reason) it's just a strictly better Firestorm. Lazy, lazy, lazy.
These changes sound a bit ludicrous. 3 great detachment rules, great strats and enhancements everywhere, buffs to a lot of datasheets, the addition of an Infiltrators unit, and much improved rules on which characters can join which units. I can only assume Sisters are going to need a pretty sweeping points increase, I mean they're at 52% win rate as it is.
This is the complete opposite of the Custodes book. Good rules and detachments that synergize with the theme of each detachment.
Someone with a brain wrote these rules.
