First of all, one of the best stories I've heard in a looong time. Masterfully narrated as well. Really kept me on the edge of my bed, couldn't even fall asleep till I heard the end. I even cried. So very damn good! Edit - can't stop harping about it - if this were adapted into a movie, it would get all the Oscars in this day and age, particularly because of the advent of AI. Edit2: played it again just now. I almost never do that. It's just that darn good. Thank you from the bottom of my souls.
Fantastic audiobook! The story kept me engaged the whole way through. Can't wait to explore more classic sci-fi tales! By the way, I've recently started my own 3D animation project in the sci-fi genre.
This was such a wonderful story. One of the best i heard in years.. please more sci fi from the Golden Days . If u narrate my absolute favorite book rendevouz with Rama i go and pay för patron directly. You really must love this because this is real books written by pionerns. And its amazing how thoose writers from the 1940-70 got so much right about our civilisation today❤ you are really awesome love u guys .. pls do Rendevouz with Rama its a fantastic book series have then all in papperback . But havent found any good narrated pls ❤❤❤ love you guys
Totally agree. Great story & I'm loving this channel, but that backing track is really quite distracting - I thought the fans in my PC were on the fritz at first, lol. Please don't make a habit of doing it, it really doesn't add to the story and is pretty annoying at times.
At the book stores in the magazine section, you can still find some of the old publications, if not these exact ones. They have Asimov's short stories at my barnes and noble. A lot of the stories like these came from magazines like these. Good luck.
Great, but next time reading no rush, tell a story. Music or sound effect good idea really, but not every time, only to point some aspect: scarry, sadness, mecanical, happynes or quriosity moments. Please reader, you have greate voice!
Finally something besides I'm from a weird (insert job or place) and they have weird rules and or I'm from (insert job or place) this is what happened or there's this weird thing.
@@mr2981 right it's hard to find good genuine material without just doing a n audio book. I was on a Twilight zone radio show kick for a long time but I've heard them all now it was good to help me sleep for a while though
joke's on you, it's one of the best narrations I've heard, and I've heard thousands. not to mention the story itself, it's a real gem. Edit: I can't stress this enough. It's not like some _other_ narrations on this channel (I believe you know the ones I speak of, I don't want to insult anyone). I do love Theo myself, so I know where you're coming from. In fact, so far I only really enjoyed ''his'' stories on this channel...until this one. This Ben guy really breathes life into these characters, something that an AI would really struggle to do. Especially the robot character, it sends chills down my spine. I just listened to the whole story again, and I very rarely do that. And I cried both times. And I'm a ghetto dude.
To durereee, since I cannot see your post anymore. Look, I am not trying to be mean to anyone but I think that to be honest is to show them a certain respect. No, the joke is not on me. I listened to a couple of minutes and I know what I am missing. Among the thousand(s) of audiobook narrations you've listened to, I don't know how this could be among the best. R.C. Bray is so good, he elevates even mediocre prose like Michael Mammay's. Ian Gordon consistently narrates classic horror beautifully, though he definitely has 'a style'. I just listened to Tom Hiddleston read J.G. Ballard's High Rise. Theodore is so good I wish he was real. So the best out of thousands? Come on.
Oh this Theodore you speak of is an AI voice?? I've never heard one as good as a human on an audiobook reading. Can you give the name of a story which has this Theodore? 🤖
@@mr2981 Ian Gordon is my main guy. I said it's one of the best, not _the_ best. But anyway, since you know so much from just 2 minutes I'm not gonna bother you anymore high and mighty one.

I agree!
Done
Actually finally an original, a good one of a kind book.
Incredible work Guy! I can't wait till the next episode 😊
Loved the twist at the end
Great book and great narration

Cheers to your project!

Tinnitus folks dont have to worry about no background noise lol x)
Fing sweeeet!❤
BRAVO
thank you for this. please consider removing the buzzing soundtrack.

I wonder why they were added. To avoid youtube copyright? To add "atmosphere"? If it's the latter I'd definitely not choose the grating sounds used.
Great story!
Good story. Very well read, very enjoyable, except for the droneing
Sound in the back ground.
There is a reason why dogs are man best friend
Don't hurt my dogs because we will all go together.
Excellent scifi
Let's goooo!
might have been a good story but could not do with the droning background noise
Your loss, it's a masterpiece.
Wow make a second part
Are those old sci-fi mazagine still around
Not in print, maybe in some obscure library.
Thanks

Yes its so hard to find a good voice , I wish the reading was slower
A damn good story damn I love my dogs

Yep, most of that stuff is junk. And by most, I mean all. Bad writing and bad narration.

Yo that sounds just like Tom greene narrating this storry
Craaaap you've put that forever in my mind lol good ear
Hi-a Rover! Good boy!
Great book, great reading but that background is annoying.
😢
Without the annoying/droning background Noise. Yikes.
This may be the best story ever written.
Aug 21 2024.
I only regret that it did not continue.
And now we know why Elon Musk warned us bout AI and that we should have oversite limitations on building robots.😅
cause we'll treat them like shit?
Boo
