The irony of an AI 'reading' a book about deceptive AI. As a side it's worth trying to get the AI to be consistant with the voices it gives characters.
You really want to be blown away look up all the other movies that were made based on his books you're going to be very surprised. Movies like minority report blade runner and a bunch of other ones@@benjaminharper2983
Reproduction rate seems to be the key to survival - - Cat, Rats, Dogs, Rabbits, insects - quick gestation short maturity time - - - Elephants & whales - long gestation and a number of years to maturity - - Humans - 9 months and a significant time for maturity - - Robots - just time to put the pieces together and instant maturity - - It seems Humans, elephants, whales, tigers, etc with a significant time for gestation, limited off spring and needed time for maturity are all doomed for extinction .... Yes, the insects will be the survivors...
Sci-fi is often predictive of trends. The "claws" sure sound like AI driven drones, and how likely is it the AI might evolve their charges. I thought of "Screamers" about a 1:30 into the story.
Same here. Overall OK, but with "scope for improvement". What disturbed me most, we're the voices of the characters - the 'reader' didn't distinguish between them. Often I had to guess, who was speaking. - AI still has a way's to go.
I'm usually the first person to moan in the comments about background music, or crappy popular music being blasted out at supermarkets etc. However, this worked for me, for some reason.
Hay love your ch and classic sci-fi. I was wondering have you heard of a story called Spores its set in london and its basically a body horror about a fungus that takes mankind ( & the environment surrounding us inc buildings)on a horrendous journey of evolution and mutation. Its a really great story , if you get the chance try listen too it and it would be amazing if you inc it in your classic scifi section .x❤
Everyone just stop. I lived this shit like Philip my favorite author. And now we are back. I never thought. It is like a nightmare come true when I see killer 1:14:55 drones in Ukraine
There is a poignant irony in an AI narrating THIS story in particular and so many people are apparently unaware it's AI. Perhaps the comments are AI generated too (shriek!) I can't hang when an AI narrator is unable to follow a conversation and keep it's accents straight.
Is the UN guy type three. Doesn’t know he’s a robot. Foreshadow when he said David did it hurt him. Wouldn’t a metal detector work. Now nobody is home. Idk the Russians acting sus too
Made into a great film. Screamers with Peter Weller.
Yea I remember that film from way back when I was a wee tot, but yea cool narration.
loved the 1st movie!
No kidding. I have screamers saved, looks like a good flick.
It is a good flick. It's set on a colony world that came under attack by a rival, all came from Earth.
I feel like this is where the inspiration for Terminator came from too. At least the glimpses into the future from the first movie.
Philip K. Dick is a brilliant author
Thanks Dark Cosmos
Died way too young.

Sounds like David Mitchell??
Listen to the children.
AI it's there yet. It's weirdly stilted and repetitively; I would say monotone, but that's not entirely right.
Wait a minute... is this what the movie series Screamers was base on?
Right! I didnt even know it was a book!

Has anyone seen the movie screamers
Yes its very simliar but I do like that this one is in an alternative Earth.
Yeah! One of my favorites..nice and bleak
Starring, Sir peter Weller.
Yeah, it's so bad!
2024. Robot AGI is being developed as I write this. This fiction is about to become a documentary.
This is horrifying..
Seems to be exactly what the Russian dictatorship wants to see happen to Europe and the americas.
Glad I gave this a listen. I was underwhelmed by The Man in the High Castle, but I thought this was excellent.

Did I hear correctly, twas written in 1954. Dick had great insight.
Theodore is a great narrator. Thanks for sharing this with us. Wondering if this might be where terminator came from? 🤔
Movie adaptation Screarmers
James Cameron wrote The Terminator. My guess though, if there was no Dick, then they'd probably be no Terminator.
Lol that was pretty good.
You can see the end coming from a mile away but still pretty good lol
A great story that reminded me of Terminator and Screamers. Thanks for this Dark Cosmos.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just wondering if this is AI narrated? Many words have incorrect pronunciation (eg PREsent instead of preSENT).
Yes it is! This is only true for most of our classic stories. Otherwise, we're still Team Human!
It really throws me off when the AI mispronounces a word in the first sentence

It's not an AI narrator
@@austinmay3677 that's a wild tale bro
@@austinmay3677 The channel owner said it is.
@@austinmay3677the narrator is Theodore. Ol Teddy is, in fact, an AI generated voice.
One of the best one hopes we could all be allies. Very actual
Excellent 😊
Very enjoyable thanks
You are a great nerrator..
You complimented and AI. Lol!
Ppp
Awesome, bout to check this out
Ah!! Screamers...thanks for the reminder
bloody loving it
Book seems to have continuous background music which is an unecessary distraction. I gave up with it. Shame because it is a good story.
Thanks for the feedback!
@@TheDarkCosmos1 I liked it.
@clutch2827 Good for you but it doesn't change the fact that it's distracting asf.

Finished 7/28/ 24. Going through dads stuff at my house.
Nice!!
Screamers was a good movie based off this story.
Now think about the drones being used in warzones around the world today....

Hah, I was wondering if this went into "Screamers". Guess it did.
Isn't this David Mitchell's voice?
As a huge fan of DM. No
