If I remember well there is a difference on line. In the 1990 Georgie asks to IT if balloons are floating and Pennywise's saying "Oh yes, they float Georgie... and when you are down here with me you'll float too". In the 2017 neither Georgie and IT are speaking about balloons making impossible to understand the line if you didn't see the previous IT or arriving to the ending of the film. It's just a very small thing btw, both movie and tv series are amazing.
The 90's version Pennywise was more approachable than the 2017 version. You'd think that he'd be more approachable so he could capture children easier.

I personally enjoyed both the 90's mini series and the 2017 movie. I enjoyed both versions of Pennywise as both brought something great to their respective adaptations. Tim Brought humor and a child like presence while Bill brought an aggressive and dark side which I enjoyed. People harp on the CGI but to me more often than not it was good. Bill even did a great job without it like in the scene with Gorgie and a few others as well. This is a demonic being and if you're going to do something like that in 2017 you're going to have to do a bit of CGI and to me it was the right amount. I think both Tim and Bill can co exist as the Peenywise they portr as can the mini series and this movie. I've read the book a lot and it does get far too silly with different creatures from early 50's monsters making an appearance and a Paul Bunyan statue and even Jaws the shark. That's not something I personally would want to see in any version. Also I'm fine with Beverly not giving herself to the guys on screen. I think the changes they made for 2017 were for the better.

3rd Coast Sports TV the main reason for that is the 2017 theatrical version focused strictly on the kids meaning there was no possibility of flashbacks which also means the movie went in chronological order. Chapter 2 in 2019 will have some flashbacks but not half as many as the 1990 mini-series did.

I really like the 2017 version. The only issue I had with it was the CGI at some spots. They either should of made it top notch or dropped it entirely as all of the actors in the film did excellent jobs in their roles.. especially Pennywise who was much scarier lurking in the shadows and talking.. rather then obvious CGI jump scare attempts.

Tim Curry's pennywise is like Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger Joker. It's campy, and sorta scary like Jack's Joker. + its not accuarate to the source material but it's a charismatic, different & memorable take on the character like Heath's Joker. Bill's pennywise is definitely closer to the books and his version is definitely more frightening. I personally still prefer Tim Curry's version and I didn't grow up w/ IT, so there's no nostalgia for me. Just preference.

He was good, but the way they handled him after he killed his dad was total crap. Obviously he isn't dead but I think they could (and should) have played it out the way they did in the book and showing the death of the other two bullies. The movie really fell apart with Bev being kidnapped and all that followed after. Total dreck.
What happens in your mind will always be more frightening than what you see, and this new film proved that. There are graphic deaths in the novel but they are eerie and not just startling. I enjoyed both adaptations, but the novel still reigns supreme.

You can't really help who you are attracted to in real life - you can tell how disappointed she was when she found out Bill wasn't the one who had written the poem, because she already liked him. You also can't ''be with'' someone just because they are nice to you and/or saved your life. It's not fair to either of you

Saw the movie the first time it was announced to theaters. You won't believe how many people were there, the whole building was packed. But the movie was lit tho, so was the actor for Pennywise. He fits the character so well.
I think the original IT was more scary. With the original, you are never really sure at first if he is evil or not with the new one it is obvious he is evil. I think it gives it a creepier effect to not know what to expect.

I think both ITs are good for different reasons and fit their movie eras better, respectively. Though I'll admit, the 2017 IT...the guy playing him? He's as scary as Curry's IT was funny. I think Curry was more about adding some campy/clowniness into the character. I never read the book so I don't know if that's how ITs is suppose to be.

I really like the 2017 version. The only issue I had with it was the CGI at some spots. They either should of made it top notch or dropped it entirely as all of the actors in the film did excellent jobs in their roles.. especially Pennywise who was much scarier lurking in the shadows and talking.. rather then obvious CGI jump scare attempts.

Tim Curry's pennywise is like Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger Joker. It's campy, and sorta scary like Jack's Joker. + its not accuarate to the source material but it's a charismatic, different & memorable take on the character like Heath's Joker.
Bill's pennywise is definitely closer to the books and his version is definitely more frightening. I personally still prefer Tim Curry's version and I didn't grow up w/ IT, so there's no nostalgia for me. Just preference.

Obviously he isn't dead but I think they could (and should) have played it out the way they did in the book and showing the death of the other two bullies. More gruesome doesn't mean better. The TV version did fine by fading out at George's death. We knew what happened and it was still terrifying.
What happens in your mind will always be more frightening than what you see, and this new film proved that. There are graphic deaths in the novel but they are eerie and not just startling. I enjoyed both adaptations, but the novel still reigns supreme.

None of them are scary enough, but Tim Curry's portrayal at least didn't make me laugh when it was supposed to be gruesome.
I like the modern one its a well done new interpretation and of course scary too but the old one is the one who really messes with your mind and deeply terrorize you. The original is way more natural and the unaltered footage makes the danger and fear more present to the viewer. Thats psychological horror that disturbs you I was in shock when I saw the original IT.

I just don't know what to say but of course it is bill because the old it was forming at the time then Stephen kings created a killer move by taking the new movie to the next level to make it much scaryer. Also, the new characters are very outstanding and extrodinary. The one who was the most out standing was Bill. He really wants to find his brother and he never gives up on it.
-I hate the way they minimized Mike's story in the new version. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the new adaptation, but Mike was basically the historian of the group. As well as the racism plaguing Mike and his family, it should have been included. It was a vital point in the book and film and explained why Henry targeted Mike a lot more and made him more than just the "token black kid for diversity points."-

I think the original IT was more scary. With the original, you are never really sure at first if he is evil or not with the new one it is obvious he is evil. I think it gives it a creepier effect to not know what to expect.

I think both ITs are good for different reasons and fit their movie eras better, respectively. Though I'll admit, the 2017 IT...the guy playing him? He's as scary as Curry's IT was funny. I think Curry was more about adding some campy/clowniness into the character. I never read the book so I don't know if that's how ITs is suppose to be.
