Awesome tutorial. I have been making custom cakes for about a year and avoided the figurines....I loved our tutorial...going to try out what I learned today!!! Thanks for Sharing ....Terri in Nova Scotia, Canada!!!!
Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial. I have just finished making my very first figure and he turned out great for my first go. Thanks for taking the time to teach in such an easy step by step way.
Thanks for the kind words, glad you like the video! I store the figurines in a box with a tight fitting lid. They can be made weeks in advance as long as they are stored properly. Do not put them in the fridge and keep them away from moisture and condensation.
That's brilliant to use uncooked spaghetti! I was using toothpicks which kept falling out, and they were never the right size. This way I can adjust the size that I need with a snap! Thanks!

Make the sleeves with flesh coloured gum paste, this makes it a bare arm, then flatten the end to make the hand and cut thumb in the same way as for the separate hands in the video. Cut a thin rectangular strip of gum paste the same colour as the t-shirt, get a craft knife, cut little triangles out down one of the long sides to make it tattered. Wet the top of the arm where it joins the t-shirt, stick down the strip as a sleeve with tattered end pointing away from the shoulder, cut away excess.
Love your video and will help me greatly but was wondering if you had any advice on making a long beard to attach to the head? I'm so not sure what to do for my client, any tips would be great. Thanks for making awesome videos.
Thank you you are very easy to understand. I was wondering I have to make my little boy with a tattered short sleeve shirt. How would you do that? Its going to be a pirate
@GirlArmy21 I'm glad you liked the tutorial! Figurines can be a intimidating at first, but once you get started you'll love it. Send me some pics of your figurines if you can, would love to see them!
I used a calyx cutter for the hair, it's a cutter used in sugarcraft to create the calyx at the base of sugar flowers. The one I used in this video was a rose calyx cutter and is available from most cake decorating stores.
