This man is a national treasure. I'm so so so glad he's still around with us! Saw him play with Go4 two years ago and was BLOWN AWAY. One of the best to ever wield an axe, and an absolute sweetheart to boot!
i was lucky enough to hang with David backstage at a Gang Of Four show a few years ago and i can confirm he is one of the nicest, most thoughtful and genuinely chill dudes on the planet...kinda blew me away
Just wrote a 20-page-long paper on Spiderland. This guys creative journey and playing has had an immense impact on me. A true inspiration. Thank you for this guys
@@inaijik It's not in english, though i might translate it someday, but not right now. I think a lot of people might find it interesting. Perhaps even Pajo, who knows. If he asks i'll probably prioritize it
Could listen to him talk music for hours. Sweet, cool, gentleman who happens to articulate his passion for music very well. Thanks for this one, Amoeba.
Pajo- fricking legend, we are so fortunate he's still with us alive and well. All his band work rules but def check out his solo albums under Aerial/Papa M- Live from a Shark Tank is a classic.
David Pajo - What's In My Bag? 8.4.24. most other folk waxed about their musical likes for a good while. Thus dude is succinct.....he's either the keyboard player from sparks or a mugger....
One of my favorite guitarists of all time. As much as I love Slint, I hope more people check out his other works, especially his solo work. Very incredible stuff.
I never am not absolutely surprised and blown away at these things with respect to learning and enjoying, and this is one of the highest in both ways….
Man, this guy is a music head. Been following him since Slint, his 2009 album 'Scream with Me' is just one of my favourites albums ever. And he starts with Impetuous Ritual damn...
Honestly one of my biggest guitar heroes. He doesn't overplay, is a master of the emotional content of his playing, but also he uses quite harmonically dense ideas with triads and extensions, dissonance. More players should study David Pajo's playing.
One of my biggest regrets in life is missing that tour where he played with Gang of Four. I did get to see him open for Sunn O))) once though. The man is a living legend and a pioneer of rock.
LMAO “I feel like I’m just picking obvious stuff” and goes on to pick some of the most eclectic albums I’ve ever seen in one of these amoeba videos 😂😂😂
great guy,who explained his picks very well and 90 percent i loved ,im getting that steve cropper, and blue cheer i saw in the day ,ounce with hendrix and they were so good ,i feel they never really had gotten there due, moondog yes very cool and out there.thaksDavid godd luck thru life always👍🖤💜
Listening to Washer always makes me think of Can, in terms of a band that has achieved a complete mind meld and can contour dynamics in total synchrony.
This WIMB was, as always, both entertaining and informative. Hope you can get Ian Hunter to do one of these soon. He has another album coming out this year and is such a legend.
More David Pajo everywhere please
Amen!
You can have biden or trump or DAVID PAJO!!!

I love it when Amoeba has guests that know something about music... life experience, unashamed of their tastes, diverse tastes....
A true legend.

I met him at the recent leeds show and can confirm that he is indeed a very nice guy
His guitar playing on Spiderland is beyond inspired. Such a huge part of that record ❤
Listen to his Aerial M and Papa M solo stuff. Just as good, more chill and reflective.
His guitar playing for Tortoise as well is absolutely stunning

Huge respect for David. I hope he’s doing well these days.
That blog post was a tough read. It defenitely stuck with me
@@lRedPosionhad no idea about that stuff am glad he seems to be doing well
I like literally everything that David has played on, then he starts his picks with Impetuous Ritual!! What a legend.
exactly, any other guy, would pick CAN or Funkadelic and leave the cavernous death metal to the very end, not him!
What a laid back, magical guy fully immersed in music of all styles/genres.
I lol'd at ' I feel like i'm just grabbing obvious stuff'. Well pitched Dave, have no fear.

Cool guy & incredible musician with a charming and humble personality, nice to see this and know such people exist
Such great recommendations but I'm so happy to see and hear David any day, his music has always healed my spirit since early high school days!
What a legend, always a joy to listen to him play and speak

Saw him play w/ Gang of Four a couple years ago. Right around the time I got into Slint and stuff. Shouts to Mr. Pajo.

David Pajo seems like one of the coolest, kindest people ever. And what a terrific musician.

Excellent. An absolute to pleasure to listen to such a lovely, talented man.
It’s always Christmas morning when amoeba posts new vids.

This guy has created a bunch of my favorite rock music.
Really love this kind of enthusiasm for music from someone who has being making it for a while. All the best to David.
legend and still evolving/inspiring!
I could listen to david talk all day. he is the coolest
Apart from being an incredible guitarist, he's always seemed like a totally lovely person that you'd be lucky to have as a friend.

Fantastic to see you so well and healthy, keep it up david, the world needs talented artists and great human beings such as yourself. A massive fan.
What a career!! And the epitome of cool to boot, thanks for everything Dave 😊
I bought that same Moondog record when I was in Ameoba a few years ago. Now I know I have ok taste.
David has been part of several of the best and most forward thinking rock acts of the psst 3 decades. Legend.
Some great choices there from bands in my vinyl collection!
Amazing musician & always so genteel & cool 👍 what a dude!
Masterclass of underground essential music history here, pretty incredible talk, unexpected, wow
After all these years I'm finally learning the proper way to pronounce "Pajo"
Yes, I was also quite clearly taken aback by his mispronunciation of his own name.
@@andrewmoonbeam321wdym, he said it the right way
Golden rule with names. Throw that rulebook in the trash, pronounce it however you feel.
@@andrewmoonbeam321 Why is the Spanish pronunciation incorrect? I'm from the southwest, so that's always how I assumed it was said.

It’s nuts that such an incredible musician is also such an amazing open human being.
Thrilled to see this, just more evidence of what a kind, smart, nice guy Pajo is.
Some great picks, what a really nice guy.

Saw David Pajo perform in São Paulo few years ago what I can only describe as "ambient guitar music". Pretty amazing stuff!
He seems like such a lovely human being 🇬🇧✌🏽

Great selections. Seems a cool guy too
love this!

Didn’t realize he was the Slint guitar player, duh! Now I have to check out more of his discography. Thanks, great takes.
He's done all kinds of stuff, my favorite of his is Papa M's Live From a Shark Cage.

Being embarrassed to admit you like CAN because they’re so mainstream is something.
Maybe not mainstream, but they're easily one of the more enduring and popular bands if you're an avid music listener.
Tbf he said he was 16 when that happened. He's long grown out of it
Awesome selection and a sweet guy... great to hear about Jon King and Parliament in the mix!!
legend
Met David pajo while working for gang of four at Leeds o2 Academy. Very nice chap and great player
Slint! David is so great, nice picks
Knowing one of the guys who made spiderland likes Beyoncé is weird but not in a bad way
Interesting history, I did not realize David's location history! I've listened to Slint and GOF, for years. Cheers from Louisville / J-Town, KY!

Pajo you are the best!!! 🧡❤️💛
Saw David with Gang Of Four @ The Roxy a couple years ago & he was absolutely flawless.
Totally brilliant man. Hope he is doing great.
So cool they let the guy from Zwan do one of these!
They should do one with Paz next...
