I was there! Britt DID play for like 10-15 minutes by himself. Aside from yelling at him, security and cops couldn't figure out HOW to STOP him. In their eyes, Britt had weapons (drum sticks) in his hands! It was intense!!

I think out of ALL of the Britt stories that are out there. This one is easily the coolest.

Glad to be able to say I was there. The PoPo were menacingly twirling their side-handle batons, trying to find the beat to jump through Britt's flailing arms and grab him. I think Pajo undersold the flying crutch part. I have always marveled at the commitment it took to surrender a medical device out of anger.

Every time i hear an anecdote about Britt Walford the mystery grows. What an iconoclastic and mysterious individual

Earlier in the night Crain played, and Britt was dancing on stage with another guy near Jon Cook during what was going to be Crain's last song. A bouncer with the club (The Grand in New Albany) slammed Britt up against the brick wall at the back of the stage, as if to punish him for being on stage. Jon said they'd play one more song that night, and it was dedicated to bouncers, and they went into 'Hey Cops!' Ironically, I saw Britt slammed up against a wall twice that night, the second time was end of the night. Someone was trying to reason with him to not go back in and play, Britt kept trying to go back in and had to be held back. I remember walking past to leave and hearing the guy say "you (Britt) made a lot of people happy tonight," he was right. One of the best shows I remember from the 90s, despite being in Indiana.

    This animation is incredible

This was an excellent wee short film. I loved the animation and it really took me back to gigs in Glasgow when I was young in the late 80s early 90s. Barrowlands in Glasgow is famous for being an out-of-control venue. It always has been. The song Ballroom Blitz is written about a gig there in 1973 that turned into a near riot. Beastie Boys shot a film of a gig there.
Anyway, the animation in this is brilliant and the way he told the story really brought back that feeling of adrenaline and excitement when a gig teeters on the edge of mayhem.

Britt Walford has somehow ascended to God like status among the indie rock Pantheon. Also I remember being super surprised that Evergreen played at that battle of the bands (St Francis?). They never played all ages shows so it was epic to see them before everything went to absolute batshit.

Funny when Dave was talking about the dude from the other band getting all sincere about how important the battle of the bands is . He said the guy is like a politician or something now haha.

I was watching this video over 2 years ago and I paused it, and it just jumped to the next video, and it had become unavailable. I woke up today and typed "slint show story" and glad I found it again. Imma rip it in 480p and put it in my miyoo now.
