@@lcminikisses It was explained to me that insurance will only pay for it if you are having infections or something like rashes from your apron, which I don't, so no insurance for me.

Thank you for the information. I was shocked when my surgeon suggested a mini tummy tuck, I thought I just needed a little lipo because I am only 110 pounds. But I look pregnant when I don't hold in my stomach. which I do all the time because I look 3 months pregnant when I don't . I had very little extra skin, but I realized that I had muscle separation after 3 kids and no matter how fit I am (because I am a runner), I will always have this pouch. So I had a mini tummy tuck with an umbilical float 10 days ago. The umbilical float allowed my doctor to fix my abdominal muscles all the way up. Can't wait for 6 months to past so I can be completely healed and wearing form fitting dresses!

So why is the Panniculectomy more expensive than the tummy tuck if there's less work done? I'm still confused on that. I see from different sources, the tummy tuck ranges from 5-7k dollars, but the Panniculectomy is 8-15k dollars... what gives?

Probably because they can charge insurance and they’ll recoup less if they initially charge less. 🤷🏻‍♀️

While this video is 3 years old I want to be a witness that a lot of insurance policies do cover the full abdominoplasty now. A full abdominoplasty is the muscle repair (plication) belly button transposition, mons lift and skin removal above the belly button. Always refer to your SPD (summary plan document for ur insurance plan and read the exclusions). If skin removal of any part of the body is an exclusion u will ALWAYS get a denied prior auth. No matter how much u medically need it and meet the criteria/ W
When you go into these surgeon offices know what ur talking abt because most will only push for the panni when ur plan will cover the full tummy tuck. Advocate for yourself. Also, with the way most PS's do a panni now I am seeing more women having very nice and flat results because most doctors reposition the belly button just for aesthetic purposes. So before u say yes to one doctor who is not to your standards, shop around and choose the one who u are comfortable with and ABPS certified.

Very well explained and thank you for this. 30 plus years ago I had 2 c-sections; the first one being emergency c-section due to labour complications along the bikini line and the second which was a scheduled c-section that my Doctor assured me would be done the same way on the bikini line. Unfortunately I woke up to find the Doctor had cut me the other direction. Over the years I have had a lot of trouble with rashes, etc. And last year it got so bad in that area where both scar’s joined that it started to bleed. Now it’s a medical issue and I will be getting the Panniculectomy. The mons issue will be addressed at the same time because I think it would look awful not to do that too. Looking forward to not having the rashes/soreness anymore.

Hi, if u see this comment was wondering how your procedure went? I’ve had 3 c sections and suffer from the same thing. My tummy just hangs even though I’m not obese. My back hurts took how did u go about starting the process?

    • @deebrake
      @deebrake 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@maymaypooch it’s 100% better than it was. Went to ER actually when it was actually bleeding. Got the right doctor who referred me to a specialist surgeon. After meeting with him it didn’t seem to be the right fit so I went to a female doctor I had seen previously for something else. She accepted me as a patient again. It was done last May. I have an amazing husband who helped so much with my aftercare. I did pay a bit extra to get a small bit more repaired in that area but it was totally worth it. If you are only getting the Panniculectomy then if you had same medical reasons it should be covered but double check the policies of your area. Keep going to doctors until someone hears you and good luck.

I am debating between just getting the (insurance covered) panniculectomy, or paying the extra for the full abdominoplasty. I don't have a lot of money so I'm really debating if I want to spend that. Will it really make that much of a difference? I'm going to ask my surgeon if he will address my mons pubis if I get the full abdominoplasty, because that is a big problem area for me. He didn't mention that at our consultation. Not sure all plastic surgeons do the mons during a tt (?) But that alone makes me want to pay the extra. And lipo. But just the muscle repair part of it, meh, if I'm being honest, not sure that part alone makes me want to drain my savings. Others may or may not agree. But everything combined may be worth it. I'll be so upset if my surgeon says he doesn't touch the mons area for an abdominoplasty 😭

Why do insurance companies not pay for an abdominalplasty if the patient had an underlying issue with the abdominal muscles being separated causing other medical issues like back pain, incontinence, and weakness in the core? I’m struggling so bad with these issues as well as a massive amount of loose skin and it blows my mind that the procedure that would correct MORE medical issues isn’t covered….

I appreciate your explanation of the difference between the tummy tuck and panniculectomy. I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. Your patient comes to you, multiple pregnancy, excessive weight gain and loss, multiple hernias, one repaired and reoccurred. She has diastasis recti, needs 2 hernias repaired and a panniculectomy. Her insurance will not cover the abdominal wall repair. It does say it would cover a tummy tuck if medically necessary. What would deem a tummy tuck medically necessary? Also, what would the end results look like just getting the hernia repair and panniculectomy without fixing the diastasis recti?

I have it from my multiple pregnancies. I lost some weight, went from 162 lbs to 145, not sure that's significant enough for my insurance to pay for it?

Interesting. My surgeon has me down for a panniculectomy but he mentioned he would be doing lipo, suturing the abdominal muscles, and lifting the mons pubis, which all sounds like a tummy tuck in the end? I'm wondering if they just call it a panniculectomy for the insurance purpose in my case, but in the end insurance isn't giving me anything so it's all out of my own pocket.

I’m getting my Panni done in 2 weeks and now I’m having second thoughts because I was told it’s up to the doctor if he’d do the fleur-de-lis if deemed necessary. I've seen that some plastic surgeons can get the umbilical transposition approved with just skin removal.
I don't care about "the look" I personal. My husband loves me as I am. I have had 6 babies, surprisingly my abdominal muscles aren't awful. I haven't lost all the weight yet but my excess skin is so problematic.
I get painful ingrown hairs, and it gets very red and raw and I have to avoid sweating if I can't wash the area immediately.
My breasts area whole other issue. I can no longer wear a supportive bra because my shoulder is messed up and it's causing more issues to my neck and spine.
But I could never afford a mommy makeover. Nor could I justify the cost. Would be amazing though.

A dr I went to told me with the panniculectomy that I'd loose my belly button. Is that true. Ive had my belly button all my life and im not about to give it up now.
I offered to pay the difference to get her to reposition my belly button but she said she couldn't do that because of the way their system bills it out. She said they have a second or third party do the billing and it wo6ld be all messed up and insurance then wouldn't pay for the panniculectomy if the belly button repair was added to it. So I asked her to bill me separately but she said they couldn't so that either, so I'm not sure what's up with her and the belly button being repositioned during a panniculectomy. She said I wouldn't have a belly button and so I turned her down on the panniculectomy since I want to keep my belly button. I had weight loss surgery about 5 years ago and now I've been dealing with rashes for 5 years on the sides of my skin overhang, that I now have from weight loss surgery. I'm afraid I'm going to end up with an infection from the rashes because the creams and powders for the rashes don't work well at all. Is it possible to get a panniculectomy and keep the belly button? I dont have a long apron in the front, although it does hang some on the front, my problem is on the sides. Thank you for this video so much.

As a mom of 4 kids... each pregnancy being very large, looked like I was carrying twins despite only being one each time... because I had gestational diabetes, on top of how im built very short/petite... They stretched me out! There was no avoiding it! So my suggestions would be:
#1. Wait! Have your kids & tie your tubes when you feel your family is the right size! U know you're done having kids. And just try to stay as fit as possible in the meantime! So that when you are done waiting, you can go in & do that tummy tuck! This option sucks, because we wanna look good right now! But it's the smartest option since you have no clue how each pregnancy will be! If there are any complications that make you gain weight or stretch you out more than normal! PLUS!!! Each pregnancy will damage/stretch the abdominal muscles! That part she explained they "Repair" ... even if you have a low risk, fit, normal pregnancy - those ab muscles will be stretched out! And if for any reason you need a c-section, where they cut straight through those muscles (like they did mine 4 times) that also screws up the muscles that they repair during a tummy tuck! So it's best to wait until after you are done having kids, unless you can afford a tummy tuck TWICE! lol
#2. Have it done, and then just do everything you can, to stay fit & healthy while pregnant! But wait before getting prego, by Two or So years, to ensure you are fully healed & that your body is ready for massive major changes. And that you've had a bit of time to enjoy your post op body before enduring pregnancy!
Minimal weight gain, Working out safely, Eat right... Do stuff to help your skin, as it stretches... so that you can bounce back as fast as possible after giving birth! And in this option just hope for the best. And accept that your ab muscles may be damaged or stretched out some; but you feel like you can live with that!

Or a third option! #3. Have just the skin removed for now! The basic panniculectomy for now! It's a little cheaper, and sometimes it can be covered by insurance if deemed medically necessary. Recovery isnt as long either! And then save up & keep fit while you have kids! And if you feel a tummy tuck is needed after you are done with pregnancies, use the saved money to do it! And they will repair everything without you worrying it might get messed up!

Wait until you are done with childbearing!!!! It would SUCK to go through all that surgery, and then get pregnant again just to ruin all the surgeon's work!
