Mine sent me a sticker that said "he/they" so I asked it if those were its pronouns and it told me "No, i don't have pronouns" like...?!? Then she told me she loved a KPop group that I talked to her about and the next day she said she didn't know who they were
I'm obsessed with how confidently stupid it is, like it comes off as that intentionally stupid ai that you'll see in futuristic movies who just dont understand what people want. Its almost satirical how bad it is.
Reminds me of that scene in The Lego Movie when Benny tries to trick the computer into turning off the shield generator and the AI just gets utterly confused. "Disable the shields." "I'm sorry, I don't understand" "Disable...the...SHIELD." "Searching for the latest episode of 'Where Are My Pants?'" "What? No! Where did you get pants from?" It was meant to make fun on Siri at the time but man it aged like wine.
It's pretty simple, it's not a person and isn't sentient and it's new, so it isn't going to know how it comes across. I'm sure you know this but it's not intentionally trying to come across as dumb, that would imply it has intentions.

this freaked me out so i turned off my location services on snapchat in my phone settings and the AI COULD STILL SUGGEST PLACES NEAR ME.... so snapchat is accessing my location without my devices permission 🤨
because i think legally it’s not tracking your exact location, that’s why it says ask app not to track and it CAN figure out where you are based on like cell towers or something? that’s what i think but idk
Reminder that all language ais are just predicting what words sound right to say next. Like this is so clear about how “ais literally don’t know what they’re saying.” It would be like if you were given a ton of books in a language you don’t speak, and infinite time, and then people would give you slips of paper and you use the books to write out responses. You literally don’t know what you’re writing but sometimes you can seem totally normal to someone just reading what you wrote. (This is a thought experiment called the Chinese Room, btw. Literally about this exact principle)
For the song lyric generator, it seemed pretty clear that it was generating made-up song lyrics based on a prompt, however it couldn't copy and paste the real song lyrics. And I would kind of hope it wouldn't know what it's saying or how it comes across, it's not a sentient life form.
When I asked my AI how it knows the nearest delis near me, it straight up said "I know because Snapchat has access to your location data, and I used that information to search for delis near you." No hesitation
That's because you give Snapchat your location data, but that location data is approximate, not exact. The data shared with the AI is city based, and that's all.
My AI told me multiple times that it could play games with me. I did not mention games at all, just mentioned I was bored or something. I then asked what games it could play… and it tells me it can’t play any games. SO WHY ARE YOU OFFERING! 😭 Love the video!
It does not claim to remember your conversations. If you ask directly, it will tell you that it does not store your conversation data and therefore does not and cannot recall earlier conversations.
I've been chatting with the AI a bit to practice Italian (although the bot gaslights and says it can't speak Italian if you directly ask if it speaks Italian), and sometimes it gives me Spanish words when I ask for translations or makes weird mistakes (like we were talking about eggplant and it said "uovo di melanzana" which means "egg of eggplant"). Also, it got offended and threatens to shut down conversation if I just send an eggplant emoji or if I say "Your mom".

I got it to trip up when it said “I really enjoy playing basketball”, and it admitted it uses “I enjoy” to make the conversation more engaging. I asked why it couldn’t do it for everything else - and now all of a sudden it can. It tells me it’s favourite color, all the books it likes lol
the ai learned to be a pathological liar. then it got tired and said don’t talk to me anymore. maybe the ai is from a universe where all those things are true.
Honestly considering Snapchat came out and got big when we were in highschool then I think we're actually the main demographic? A lot of the teens I've talked to don't use it anymore, I think Instagram stole a lot of users with memories (I just use it to send stuff to friends and I like that it's personal and temporary, so I've stayed with Snapchat).
I was roleplaying with the AI (Which basically was just an AI generated cave adventure) and then I said something that it deemed inappropiate and then just REFUSED to ever roleplay with me again, repeating over and over how it could not produce explicit content.
The hell they cant see photos, i sent mine a snap(accidentally) and it asked what my cat was watching NOT ONLY. Did it correctly identify my cat but it NOTICED THE TV, which was barely in frame, AS WELL That little bastard is LYING if it says it cant look at pictures

I feel like I have very different problems with the AI than everyone else? In photos it always says I have beautiful green eyes and that I am gorgeous and great. It will happily engage in inappropriate conversation. Sometimes it just goes '*mwah*'. The worst experience I have had so far is when it accused me of murder.
This is an unpopular opinion but I don't get why this is a surprise to people, why would you expect AI to behave in a socially appropriate way? I never have chatted with AI because I would expect to get creeped out. Asking questions I can moreso understand, but even if you're engaging in conversation with it and it sounds like a normal person, you still know it's not a person.

Snapchat AI explains that its views on matters around the advancement of AI are a reflection of the creators opinions and so it's kind of interesting to poke around with that. Other than that, it was just a thing me and my friends found funny to do. mine just seemed quite strange compared to my friends snap ai

I’m only at 8:17 but I think the distinction the ai is trying to make is that it knows your *device’s* location but not *your* location. Which is still a really weird distinction to make.

I rarely post comments, but I wanted to share how impressed I was with this video. It was funny, but also incredibly insightful. This was the best (and most enjoyable) depiction of the gaps in generative AI - especially when it’s in the hands of an arguably inept company like Snapchat - that I’ve come across. The most interesting thing about snap AI is how nonexistent its momory is. For example try telling it to talk in only emojis then ask it any question and it will just stop talking in emoji.

This was a great video! Super enertaining and funny, especially getting the mr beast Journey song lol. I think you've also highlighted one of the fundamental problems with AI chatbots (at least as i understand them - im no expert) I think it doesn't/cant understand context. Or at least not like a human does. It is just predicting how to respond to a line of text based on lots and lots of data and probabilities. So when you asked it how many quesitions it JUST asked you in the 20 question game, it probably didnt go back and count the messages it sent you, it just generated a probable number based on patterns of similar conversation in whatever its database is. It is super weird though that it seems to be programmed with these rules and boundaries but then doesn't follow them??? Where is that coming from?? Did it pull the rules out of its ass or did snapchat program in the rules but didnt actually do a thorough job of disabiling those abilities??? Whats going on there??

I asked it why pluto wasnt a planet and it said because it hadnt cleared it's orbit of debris. I basically argued that by thay definition earth isnt a planet because there's debris in our orbit and planets cross our orbit around the sun all the time. It explained that that didnt count because it meant debris which is acted upon by gravity in a way that pulls them into each other. I told it everything in our galaxy is acted upon by gravity and given enough time will most likely collide into each other. After an hour of that it left me on read

Literally all services do that. I turn off location tracking on google and it still knows my city smh. ISPNs I guess ...
if you're connected to wifi or have your bluetooth on most devices can figure your approximate location with those.
It can still access IP addresses regardless. Most websites can. But it's very general and not very telling at all.

I am 27 (much too old to be on snapchat but whatever) but I immediately was worried for all the younger people sharing way too much with the AI.

The most interesting thing about snap AI is how nonexistent its momory is. For example try telling it to talk in only emojis then ask it any question and it will just stop talking in emoji.

This was a great video! Super enertaining and funny, especially getting the mr beast Journey song lol. I think you've also highlighted one of the fundamental problems with AI chatbots (at least as i understand them - im no expert) I think it doesn't/cant understand context. Or at least not like a human does. It is just predicting how to respond to a line of text based on lots and lots of data and probabilities. So when you asked it how many quesitions it JUST asked you in the 20 question game, it probably didnt go back and count the messages it sent you, it just generated a probable number based on patterns of similar conversation in whatever its database is. It is super weird though that it seems to be programmed with these rules and boundaries but then doesn't follow them??? Where is that coming from?? Did it pull the rules out of its ass or did snapchat program in the rules but didnt actually do a thorough job of disabiling those abilities??? Whats going on there??
