This OVA and franchise in general is actually great, but for some reason, they had an edgy 14 year old rewrite the script and hired shitty voice actors for the english dub.

Crybaby was actually a step in the right direction and the acting, animation and story were all pretty good imo. It’s not “edgy”. It’s also a little bit more faithful to the manga.

I unironically love the OVAs, but a large part of that charm comes from the bad dub. It's mostly just nostalgic if you're in the right mood for this era of animation, I don't think it lessens the experience to watch it dubbed rather than subbed.
