Great review. I bought this during Amazon prime day for $50.. great bargain and you’re 100% right about the other models (240/360) having issues. Currently using it on a 9700k with a 6950xt and it keeps the 9700k cooler than my previous H100i 240mm. Upgrading to AM5 as soon as it drops so I’ll follow up with my thoughts on it when I receive it! Cheers!

Hi, Mike. I hope you're feeling better. I don't believe AIOs are worth the trouble. If money is tight, stay with a good air cooler. Water cooling is for crazy people like me who don't mind spending over $1k for a professional liquid cooling setup.
I was thinking about something to invert the flow of the liquid from time to time to prevent clogging. Liquid moving always in the same direction will likely push the trash at the same place and get clogged after a while. Inverting the flow could prevent that.
Interesting unit and noticed the rotating logo compared to the one you reviewed on the live stream. Assume the pipes are long to accommodate front panel mounting but does losing rear fan impact on cooling? Great gain in temp charts and would that mean noise levels are lower compared to air cooler? Thanks for reviewing Mike and Kath👍
@@mikesunboxing You could also (while I know this will look shitty, but it will still perform) mount the rear fan on the outside of the case, blowing cool air into the case.

Hi How can the orientation of the "ball bearing" fans affect its life span: horizontally- rad mounted at the top of case vs vertically- rad mounted at the front of the case? Also the way the pump is integrated into the rad, when the AIO is mounted at the top the case, the pump cable will continuously be exposed to hot air exhausted through the rad out of the case. While if the AIO is mounted at the front of the case the pump cable won't be getting as toasty due to fresh air being pulled through that side of the rad. How does this affect the health of the pump cable in the two different mounting positions over a long term of extensive use? I feel like this could be a reason to mount the AIO in font of the case, which takes me back to the original question of the fan orientation and their life span. Great video! Thank you.
ball bearing fans have a contact area that is similar to the principle of a hula hoop. it isn't totally snug all the way around, and with the grease or oil that erodes over time the bearings wear and get noisy and the bearings themselves will generate heat. with gravity pulling down and the weight of the fan, when vertical the slack is more pronounced to the bottom of the fan, it is very small but there. with the fans mounted horizonal the slack is more evenly distributed across the whole bearing and casing. With regard to the pump, they are often exposed to high temps and the ones that or mounted on the CPU get the extremes of heat from the VRM and the CPU itself. With the pump incased in the cooler water from the block and also with a constant flow of air actually keeps the pump cooler than it would if block mounted.
@@mikesunboxing Hey! Thanks for the explanation on the fan bearings! My other concern was regarding the pump "cable" and not the pump itself, since a portion of the cable is kinda touching the aluminum fins on the rad, and the cable does not have any heat resistant sleeving, won't the sheath be damaged due to continuous exposure to the hot air and the heat directly from the fins when mounted at the top of the case? or can it sustain the heat through multiple years of use without getting damaged?
Ahhh these coolers have major early life failures. I have one that's 9 months old and kaput. They put the wrong liquid in it and they have microbial growth which breaks the pump. Especially the 240r and 360 models!
depends what eco system you are in or looking to use, there isn't much between them in performance, the msi will likely be cheaper and is compatible will almost all rgb lighting the corsair is locked into icue unless you modify the cables

i think a good number of people have had a poor experience with these and the whole clogging issue that was supposed to be just the 240 and 360mm versions.
How is it in comparison to 240mm aio from cooler master or Corsair or deep cool? I think when you benchmark these kinds of products, you must do against similar but expensive aio like 240mm or 280mm nzxt. I have been planning to buy aio for long and have been watching your videos and you do very good work when comes to comparison and benchmark. Just this video was a bit off. After watching the test results I'm unsure if that's a good result or a bad result. I m saying all this because an average buyer like me relies on you or other youtubers to make a decision as we can't buy and test it for ourselves. Anyways thanks for the video. I usually have 10 browsers running with 2 tabs open on each while I play games like far cry 6, red dead redemption 2.
i see what you mean, and i should do better. the truth is most aio's and coolers of a similar size perform within a very small margin of each other, so actually validating the results means using the system in a very unnatural way, with locked processor speeds and fan rpms, which in the real world no one will do. I like to look at other aspects like ease of use, build quality and mostly price or value for money. But thanks for the comments and it is something i am considering changing or at least standardising in some way
I think my 280R is defective. I've never run a benchmark, but just playing Horizon Zero Dawn on my Ryzen 5800X the CPU is getting up to 90 degrees C and it's only showing 20% CPU utilization. Maybe in a cold case with cold ambient temps, overclock results are often unexpected and you might need a lot more voltage to reach those speeds, mostly overclocking is mostly pointless as they run turbo boosts and other things to squeeze the most out of the chips, undervolting is probably a better idea
