Personally, because it's an unsympathetic Patton story *and* being told by Remus, I'm inclined to believe that this is a story he made up. Because of, you know, the whole near baby drowning thing. I can just picture Remus getting more and more excited until Logan shows up.

Mushroom Chicken personality I think Patton is going to be the bad guy, but I don’t think he’s a bad person or side but he is controlling. he doesn’t act like it on camera but in the latest sander sides episode that wasn’t a “Sanders Aside” it shows a patton does have a controlling side. Anything he doesn’t feel as good or things that make Thomas seem like a bad person he eliminate from the equation and that’s not right, I do understand why he’s doing it but that’s not healthy or good for Thomas in the long run.

I love it when people make Patton the villain. The art style is magnificent. How you made Remus the narrator was brilliant, absolutely brilliant! Making Logan the sympathetic one was a bold move, but it was absolutely suitable to the story told through this short animatic. I'm unsure what the species were that Dee and, what I guess was, his mother were, but the design was very eye catching and very original. This animatic was bloody brilliant, I tell you. I hope to see more soon!

To fit into Thomas’ mind, I think he was meant to be the other part of Thomas’ conscience. Like, on one hand, Patton, as morality was being far too drastic to protect Thomas, while Virgil, as guilt, was forced into silence and could only silently watch as Patton did his terrible deeds.
He is the statues in the movie when he looked up the angels were frowning virgil just looked like the gargoyles thought that would be a good concept for them

What is there to say about this? The art? It’s incredible, expressive, and the characters look beautiful. The characters? They fit perfectly. Even though I don’t like an unsympathetic Patton I have to admit that it fits, and it looks dam good. Deceit being seen as different as everyone does in the series is incredible. The list goes on. Hello yes, Patton staring up at the crying and obviously beaten-up Virgil in horror gives me shivers every time. Their wide eyes show so much emotions, I love it. Everything fits so perfectly, but that scene is just perfect.

Roman: I have yet to receive my invite to the pity party! Unless he’s supposed to be the lady in red, which would be interesting since creativity/imagination is a form of deception, calling one thing something else and whatnot. Also, I think it’s an interesting story if you imagine Remus telling this story to Roman. Romans not in it, so maybe he’s seeing it like we are. I don’t know, this is a beautiful animatic that leaves much to the imagination. I would love to see more if this became some kind of AU or something, but this on its own is magnificent. A couple of seconds in, I thought, "Will Patton be Frollo?" and I was already SO excited to find that he was, and the Virgil part just sent it soaring above my expectations; well done.
Seeing Virgil gave me chills, like everything about this is freaking amazing! Literal chills! And just thinking about it, like they know Virgil as the angel/eyes for Notre Dame I'm assuming but what if the part of Esmeralda is also Virgil. They have the same name and are similar, so Patton likes(obsesses) over him because he's like 'An angel, a literal angel is here.' or thinks that Virgil is a reincarnation of the angel of Notre Dame and thinks 'I must save his soul and keep him.'
I must say I love the angel idea and especially your interpretation gives a whole new context to their relationship. I bet you imagine him as still real nice right? Least until everything starts going to Hell. For once pun not intended(maybe😜) Like the fake syrupy kind. What I thought of is pretty similar. Virgil is an angel and does interact with the characters though near exclusively Janus as his own gargoyle quote on quote leaving by the end as Janus doesn't need him anymore as he starts his way to becoming a priest himself. Also my headcanon is Virgil taught him those parkour skills half for his own amusement as much as granting Janus a means of escape that he then uses to don a thieving persona. Why? Because it's Dee. So anyway that's how my mind works. Do with that what you will.

Roman: Let's face it twenty years on your own like this scorned and belittled, beaten over and over again with his mutated word of God. I'd be surprised if you were sane. Ergo that's why you saw an angel. In your mind the impossible needed to be possible as you were constantly escaping. What many would see as imaginary or delusion was all too possible too someone in your shoes. Of course no less real but you don't need to do so anymore. You're your own man who can begin to make his future.

Hear me out Roman and Virgil fought, and it ended up with Virgil dying (I'm saying they fought because even if I ship them, they're the one who are the most often in conflict. Also, Roman is the only one with a sword, and since Remus is the one telling the tale, is the only one who could've harmed Virgil, since our little boy seems quite beaten up) Since Roman and Remus are brothers, it's safe to assume Roman is a dragon, and therefore, Patton would blame all dragons for what happened. I'm 100% sure that's not what you intended it to be, but I just thought that could sound cool (Also, I know it would make more sense if Virgil became Esmeralda and Roman Phoebus, but I'd love to see a Roman as Esmeralda. Because (yes, this comment is becoming Hella long) since the gypsies are dragons in this story, and Roman is the only dragon we haven't seen yet, shouldn't Roman be Esmeralda?)
I- just completely FELL in love with your animatic ?? How can this be THIS perfect ? Firstly the music is already itself suffice to make me cry but oh dear the expressions of everyone was pure gold ! The way you presented them too ?? The confrontation between patton and janus is so good and patton's gloomy face vs the face lighted by the sun of janus, incredible. Fun fact! You know how when a side pops up they have a short music thing that accompanies them? Virgil’s is actually a rendition of Dies Irae, which is Latin for Day of Wrath. It’s used in many things to foreshadow death including The Lion King when Mufasa dies, Star Wars when Luke’s aunt and uncle die, in this when the gypsy mother dies, and more recently in Frozen 2 as the freaking siren call, signifying that the mother is dead.
I like how even with Deceit's name drop this still fits- A name that means two-faced- Janus- :D or maybe he'll name himself later- idk. I still would kill for a fic of this dkdbwkxjw

You don’t see a lot of sympathetic deceit often but I’m LOVING IT!!! Everyone is so quick to judge him but I just rewatched SvS, and it’s so clear how much he’s genuinely looking out for Thomas. Showing the center of his morality’s, well, morality, being brought into question is absolutely fascinating. Also the bells of Norte dame is a massive BOP so there’s that’s too. Applause on all fronts!

This is....I have no words for how....AMAZING!! THIS IS!!!! I love the characters styles, Virgil is just... and my baby Deceit....and Logan... wow. I’m speechless. I absolutely love the choice of Remus instead of Roman for this. It just fits. I’m just gonna...I have to watch this again. I’m not a big Patton fan, I wouldn’t say I hate him but he’s not in my top 5, so I’m loving the unsympathetic Patton.

To fit into Thomas’ mind, I think he was meant to be the other part of Thomas’ conscience. Like, on one hand, Patton, as morality was being far too drastic to protect Thomas, while Virgil, as guilt, was forced into silence and could only silently watch as Patton did his terrible deeds.
He is the statues in the movie when he looked up the angels were frowning virgil just looked like the gargoyles thought that would be a good concept for them
What he is is incredibly haunting and terrifying.

This is amazing!! I love how you placed Remus to be the storyteller, and the scene with Virgil just,,, LOOMING, and the look on his face had me pretty shaken up! XD I felt so bad for Deceit, the panel in which you could see his dead mother, and then when Patton pointed the spear at his forehead, even as he cried...

The art? It’s incredible, expressive, and the characters look beautiful.
The characters? They fit perfectly. Even though I don’t like an unsympathetic Patton I have to admit that it fits, and it looks dam good. Deceit being seen as different as everyone does in the series is incredible. The list goes on.
The idea of this I adore. I want more. No I need more. Please make more! This is so good. I need a Patton singing hellfire. Really I do now.

Their wide eyes show so much emotions, I love it. Everything fits so perfectly, but that scene is just perfect.

Unless he’s supposed to be the lady in red, which would be interesting since creativity/imagination is a form of deception, calling one thing something else and whatnot.
Also, I think it’s an interesting story if you imagine Remus telling this story to Roman. Romans not in it, so maybe he’s seeing it like we are.
I don’t know, this is a beautiful animatic that leaves much to the imagination. I would love to see more if this became some kind of AU or something, but this on its own is magnificent.

A couple of seconds in, I thought, "Will Patton be Frollo?" and I was already SO excited to find that he was, and the Virgil part just sent it soaring above my expectations; well done.
Seeing Patton as Frollo and then a flash of yellow amongst the dragons made me scream with an intensity I didn't know possible. I loved it!
Seeing Virgil gave me chills, like everything about this is freaking amazing! Literal chills! And just thinking about it, like they know Virgil as the angel/eyes for Notre Dame I'm assuming but what if the part of Esmeralda is also Virgil. They have the same name and are similar, so Patton likes(obsesses) over him because he's like 'An angel, a literal angel is here.' or thinks that Virgil is a reincarnation of the angel of Notre Dame and thinks 'I must save his soul and keep him.'
I must say I love the angel idea and especially your interpretation gives a whole new context to their relationship. I bet you imagine him as still real nice right? Least until everything starts going to Hell. For once pun not intended(maybe😜) Like the fake syrupy kind.
What I thought of is pretty similar. Virgil is an angel and does interact with the characters though near exclusively Janus as his own gargoyle quote on quote leaving by the end as Janus doesn't need him anymore as he starts his way to becoming a priest himself. Also my headcanon is Virgil taught him those parkour skills half for his own amusement as much as granting Janus a means of escape that he then uses to don a thieving persona. Why? Because it's Dee.
So anyway that's how my mind works. Do with that what you will.

Roman(uncertainly): What are you doing up here? You know priests get their own lodgings...?
Janus: Of course I do. What do you want?
Roman: The archdeacon(Logan) was looking for you wondered and I quote, "what did you do to my sweet baby you unholy wretch?!"
Janus(barely containing laugher): Did he really?
Roman: I may have taken some liberties.
Janus(sighs): Son of a bitch left me high and dry.
Roman stares at him in confusion and just a bit of worry.
Janus rolls his eyes.
Janus:(deadpan)Our dear angel from above. Virgil.
Roman: Well if he truly was then perhaps his task was complete.
Janus: Explain.
Roman: Let's face it twenty years on your own like this scorned and belittled, beaten over and over again with his mutated word of God. I'd be surprised if you were sane. Ergo that's why you saw an angel. In your mind the impossible needed to be possible as you were constantly escaping. What many would see as imaginary or delusion was all too possible too someone in your shoes. Of course no less real but you don't need to do so anymore. You're your own man who can begin to make his future.
This fits so much better now that "Putting Others First-Selfishness vs Selflessness" came out. Like, SO GOOD.
Honestly at first when I saw your doodle on Pinterest w/ Deceit as Frollo I thought “OMG they made a animatic who’s gonna be Quasi? Anxiety? Logan?” Then when Judge Patton came up I’m “...wha.” Anyway this is so awesome! I love and adore your work always ❤️🤟🏻

Roman and Virgil fought, and it ended up with Virgil dying (I'm saying they fought because even if I ship them, they're the one who are the most often in conflict. Also, Roman is the only one with a sword, and since Remus is the one telling the tale, is the only one who could've harmed Virgil, since our little boy seems quite beaten up)
Since Roman and Remus are brothers, it's safe to assume Roman is a dragon, and therefore, Patton would blame all dragons for what happened. I'm 100% sure that's not what you intended it to be, but I just thought that could sound cool
(Also, I know it would make more sense if Virgil became Esmeralda and Roman Phoebus, but I'd love to see a Roman as Esmeralda. Because (yes, this comment is becoming Hella long) since the gypsies are dragons in this story, and Roman is the only dragon we haven't seen yet, shouldn't Roman be Esmeralda?)

I- just completely FELL in love with your animatic ?? How can this be THIS perfect ? Firstly the music is already itself suffice to make me cry but oh dear the expressions of everyone was pure gold ! The way you presented them too ?? The confrontation between patton and janus is so good and patton's gloomy face vs the face lighted by the sun of janus, incredible. Remus as clopin is a perfection, there is not a single frame i would pass i can see how much time you put and thought for this animatic ! Really bravo bravo à toi.
Fun fact! You know how when a side pops up they have a short music thing that accompanies them? Virgil’s is actually a rendition of Dies Irae, which is Latin for Day of Wrath. It’s used in many things to foreshadow death including The Lion King when Mufasa dies, Star Wars when Luke’s aunt and uncle die, in this when the gypsy mother dies, and more recently in Frozen 2 as the freaking siren call, signifying that the mother is dead.
I like how even with Deceit's name drop this still fits-

listen i know i have already commented here but. Just back to say. That I rewatch this alot and I cry and I just love this so much. One of my favorite Sanders Sides animatics of all time. Everything about it- the art style and the way you chose to do the different frames and just the whole concept of it I just. I just love it a lot

I’m loving this idea of villain Patton especially since he and Frollo both are judges of morality and take things too far to do what they think is right. Obviously Patton isn’t to that extent, but it is still a really interesting concept and your animatic greatly portrayed that.

Virgil as the eyes of Notre Dame was a good idea, but in the overall story of the Hunchback I would see him as Esmeralda, considering he was a sort of outcast in the beginning (also I'm a huge Prinxiety shipper and I can totally see Roman as Phoebus sorry)
And Remus has big Clopin energy, I would sell my soul to see an animatic of you with Remus singing The Court of Miracles!
Dark Patton is very interesting especially with the explanation in the description. It can kinda make sense in a way. Frollo kinda is like if Patton had corrupt ideals and acted on those corrupt thoughts
Plot twist: this is Remus retelling the story to Patton to spite and torture him after Janus defeated him
... This is SO GOOD. The art is beautiful and as much as I love Patton I can absolutely see him taking purity so far, and the choice of characters for everyone in this is amazing.

I've heard the soundtrack and its artists like this who can take something that's been created and build on it. the idea of this. just wow. and its a tale being spun by Remus of all sides Logan defending Deceit the idea that Janus was born by Dragons and then lost. I want more. its incredible. you well deserve every like on this. i'm just stunned.

All of it!! Especially, with how you portrayed Virgil as being notre dame itself, with him crying like it truly hurt him to see Patton commit such an act. Not to mention you made him look like he held more sway in the moment putting fear into evil Patton. I just love how that corrisponds with him being the embodiment of fear and anxiety And how you had Remus being the narrator! That just suited him so well!! And Logan as the Priest, being the logical voice of reason that what Evil Patton had done was doing was wrong. Then there Evil Patton, the thought of him being evil just sends chills down my spine. And poor baby Janus! I wanna hug him.

You don’t see a lot of sympathetic deceit often but I’m LOVING IT!!! Everyone is so quick to judge him but I just rewatched SvS, and it’s so clear how much he’s genuinely looking out for Thomas. Showing the center of his morality’s, well, morality, being brought into question is absolutely fascinating. Also the bells of Norte dame is a massive BOP so there’s that’s too. Applause on all fronts!
I love the implications of Virgil being the Eyes of Notre Dame! Especially if it means Patron would always be anxious or frightful about whether or not his decisions make Thomas a good person or not if he were to resort to killing baby Janus.
Ironically, the whole 'Patton giving Deceit a cruel name' still works with regards to Janus.
