Use a small plastic bristle brush to clean drywall knives makes them look brand new and takes every little bit of mud off fast. IKEA do a good cheap set of plastic bristle brush used for washing dishes…
I've got a 4 inch Anvil, and a 6 inch Marshalltown because I'm a cheap SOB, lol. I'll be getting a 10 inch so I can try your wet texture scraping technique. The entire house ceiling is mop textured, and not at all pretty. Wen makes a new mid-mounted 9 inch sander that works great, but holy hell does it get heavy after a while. I used it to sand down the ceiling in my 12 x 14 bedroom, and it all but killed me, lol. That mop texture is just too much work to sand down. Once I scrape it all off I'll use the sander for smoothing out my skim coat. I've never done a skim coat so I need all the help I can get. The two questions I have are; do you think those corner rollers are worth trying for inside corner joints? Is it ok to use AP mud for skim coating, or does it take too long to dry? I skipped out on skim coating the bedroom, and went with a PVA primer, which seemed to work ok, but I'll have to hit a couple of spots that I didn't see. My house is 43 yrs old so the drywall isn't in the best shape, but I can't afford to redo the whole house ceiling. Thank you for everything you do, sir, I, for one, greatly appreciate it.
