Biographie : Placebo
1972 : Brian Molko naît le 10 décembre à Bruxelles.
1974 : Stefan Olsdal naît le 31 mars à Göteborg en Suède.
1994 : Brian Molko et Stefan Olsdal fondent le groupe Ashtray Hearts. Peu de temps après, ils se rebaptisent Placebo
Le batteur Robert Schultzberg rejoint le groupe.
1996 : Placebo signe avec Hut Records, un label de Virgin.
Ils jouent en première partie de David Bowie.
Le groupe sort son premier album éponyme.
Robert Schultzberg quitte le groupe. Il est remplacé par Steve Hewitt.
1998 : Placebo sort son deuxième album « Without you I’m nothing ».
2000 : Sortie de l’album « Black Market Music ».
2003 : Placebo sort l’album « Sleeping with Ghosts ».
2004 : Sur l’album « Rendez-vous » de Jane Birkin, Brian Molko chante le titre « Smile » en duo avec la chanteuse.
2005 : Brian Molko collabore à l’album d’Indochine « Alice et June », en chantant un duo « Pink Water » avec Nicola Sirkis.
2006 : Placebo sort l’album « Meds ».
Le groupe fait une tournée mondiale jusqu’en fin 2007.
2007 : En octobre, le batteur Steve Hewitt quitte Placebo.
2008 : Le batteur Steve Forrest rejoint le groupe.
2009 : Le 8 juin, ils sortent leur nouvel album « Battle for the sun »

it's incredible how they can take basically any song and make it 100% their own. this one and running up that hill are probably best examples, but brian molko doing bowie's 5 years is also high on the list

Very good choice of cover this is. Molko has that same metallic color in his voice as Nik Kershaw has. Simon LeBon had that too. Placebo's overall sound is similar too, so they can be true to the original and still be very much sound like themselves.

The drummer dresses by the same tailor as the Red Hot Chily Peppers ;-)). Seriously, Placebo are one of the few quality music bands today. For someone like me born in the 70s who grew up with beautiful music from the 80s and who has almost every Placebo album, this video was a nice gift. Thanks for posting it.

Saw Placebo in Manchester about 20 years ago or thereabouts. We were stood in the middle of the room when they came on and were shunted forwards by about 20 feet and ended up pogo'ing involuntarily with pints in hand. Great band.

I love that they kept the vibe of the song despite the lack of electronic synths instead of changing it into an entirely different thing .... some parts the vocals sound almost exactly the same as Nikershaw .... some bright sparks of improvisations ..... .... nothing can compare to the original but this is a good cover...
